  1. Well done, do you know his other claim to fame, certainly better fields at mot today, be interesting to see if the racing is leader dominated, do recall being there many years ago and watched a huge performance for top galloper, loader, he came from last that day.
  2. Friendly to me today, thought the 17s in tarukenga over the odds, Id like to know a few of the friendly grass tracks, couple good days racing, not as many on course today, but the norm for the second day, good luck to reefton looks like the same horses lining, been some very good horses start and win at Westport over the years, armalight our mana just a couple, also top trotter that won two dominions trained there if anyone can remember its name, I'm sure brodie will he's always on the money.
  3. No like the media to exaggerate news
  4. According to my source, the dredge parked up at the buller river today, maybe on xmas holiday.
  5. Looked like a very big crowd there today, be interesting to see what the turnover was, apparently dexter Dunn was on course.
  6. Apparently they still have the dredge and it hasn't been sold, and is contracted out to various areas,
  7. Any other towns and clubs you could add to the list, just to keep things a little more balanced, the old coasters a resilient bunch, and can handle a few hundred mills rain, think the day they had the big one buller river peaked 12.5 metres, and interesting the flooding was from an off shoot of the buller river ,which was ment to work as an overflow and had done for years, trouble being hadn't been maintained for 20 plus years, getting back to the racing the club will still do a good turnover better than most, and probably in a better shape than most.
  8. Well, not much positivity in those comments, I'm sure some of the residents will have a different view, bit more to it than just the floods, hope the flooding is not coming to a town near you, wont be a lot of places where it's not, coast can handle more rain than most other districts.
  9. Very worrying times ahead, for a club that's usually have a abundance of horses looking for a start, be the worst fields they've had for many a year,
  10. Yes real shame, given their impressive turnovers year in year out, see a few of the usual trainers not coming, but as some have said cost and a sign of the times, nominations left open till today, but can't see that making to much difference, doesn't bode well for the circuit.
  11. The stable have never been afraid to bring down a few of their stars to race on the coast, can remember the good sprinter scapolo racing and winning there a few years ago, always good to see, grassroots racing at it's best.
  12. No excuses for the opposition, started from the very wide barrier and found the front, don't see to many do that and win,, well done to Pam and the team, hope some of you got a piece of that big dividend.
  13. Rarely does racing get coverage on tv1 news, and when it it does it's for all the wrong reasons, real shame the events of today, but I guess everyone went home in one piece, most of the younger crowd there for a big social outing or there for the fashion stakes, both of no interest to me.
  14. Be interesting to see how many trainers stay or go home with the rescheduling
  15. Crickey nothing like a feed of tripe,
  16. Two of real stalwarts of the coast racing, pity Frank wasn't around to see his horse matinee win its maiden,Don stood Hula dan as a sire at some stage.
  17. Yes I remember that day, had the joy of backing that winner that was tailed off with a lap to run, a horse called our spice at 60s fixed odds, trained by Don Fuge, always supported the coast meetings, and from memory trained a grand national winner in stormy night, was many years ago, 70s maybe.
  18. A few years back they loaded the horses in reverse order was a hokitika meeting, remember watching the race and thinking something did add up, only on coast, inside horses started on outside stalls, certainly won't happen there anymore.
  19. Very unfortunate that ones that weren't so much conned, just had to trade their souls to keep employment and provide for their family's or keep a lifestyle, that's so wrong, and now to hear of some paying the ultimate price.
  20. Very tough decision to make, especially when the pressure was coming from all corners, shame on schools for pushing the barrow as well.
  21. Bit sad when people get pushed into a corner for various reasons, and now find out many untruths, I managed to to ward the jab off, stayed at my job till the deadline was forced, alls well and things worked out.
  22. No one likes to see any horses or riders harmed due to the actions of the jockeys, but in a competitive game it's going to happen in some form, and I'm sure not on purpose. Certainly never got to see the best of oxford aunt, or her I'll fated son of zac, very promising horse.
  23. There a name from the past, remember him riding connan handy horse in his day, trained by Eddie Low.
  24. The good ole days, the best ole days I reckon,
  25. Top win by that horse, the favourite certainly not helped by the wide draw, worked the whole way, bookies probably be happy, good to see aegon back in form, didn't even know he was over there.
