  1. I think armalight may have won her first race on the grass at Westport, back in the day, also our mana.

    AWT

Have to agree with that comment, I said exactly the same to my wife, even before lockdown hardly any patrons attended.
  3. Agree racing looked good there today
  4. Splodge which slipped under my guard on Sunday, also by roc de cambes, nice win fresh up.
  5. Thought I was on a winner with elusive empire, till casino princess arrived, very impressive win that was.
  6. Certainly not, not a criticism on my part, just the runners they have supplied over the years, will leave a big whole for sure.
  7. I read an article about the Taplins looking to move to Australia, they will certainly be missed when they go, have always boosted the horse numbers in the deep south.
  8. Had to take a rat test to visit my mum's recent stay in hospital, but the jabbed can walk in an out at will and could have it themselves, crazy, shame about the anzac rule, some of those old soldiers been through tuffer stuff than this, I did see one on TV last night saying he's not worried about it and he's over 100, covid a great excuse for just about anything, on the upside I am allowed to go back to work, glad I stuck to my guns looking back have no regrets, there a lot of three shot people out there that are getting knocked around bigtime by the lurgy.
  9. A bit like the raise the flags, high forty win 10 today.
  10. Nice field for the cup, might take wild Jack for a roughie, few at the top got to carry big weights.
  11. Once was a three day carnival, maybe they gave up to early today, even though time was running out, buggar had to change my syndicate bet to the trots tonight, before hearing of a reschedule, but that's nothing compared to some of the owners with regards of second day.
  12. When I seen the rescheduled of the last race around 6ish I thought crickey they would need lighting.
  13. Very scenic down there, and unfortunately were only there for a limited time, but certainly made the most of it, had a look around bluff as well, hopefully be able to stay longer next time
  14. Great fields and a punters graveyard, but always love having a bet down there, on a few roughies, there will be a few that sleep well tonight, punters and horses, attended the meeting in 2019 when we had a runner in the cup, he liked wet tracks, but to puggy that day, very much enjoyed the trip down there, even though the plane circled for what seemed and eternity, just as we had given up the hope of landing and a pending bus trip from Dunedin, we finally landed, took time on the Sunday to visit the surrounding tracks, invercargill, Wyndham Winton Gore, very enjoyable weekend, sadly now some of those tracks are unused.
  15. Thought wolverine was abit unlucky to be fair, mainly because of the ground she lost prior to the turn, when she was squeezed up on the the rail, that length or so may have made all the difference, that's racing for you, always need that luck.
  16. Another nice race from madam sequoia sequoia on Saturday. hopefully she's turned a corner.
  17. Shock horror one in Australia to,
  18. Yes who knows when or what will be next, maybe the return of smallpox, one can only hope to get back to work, for how ever long, poor healthy nurses waiting to get back to work are still waiting, insane that a covid positive nurse can return to work, as long as they're jabbed, this rule is insane.
  19. Heard an old story some years ago on the coast, where a jockey was questioned on his lack of vigor when riding a favored runner, to which he replied, there was no use in both of getting tired.
  20. Be interesting to see the riding tactics, this week.
  21. Fair call, be a lot of deaths we will never know the numbers and that just from the jab, read a article said of the 150 odd deaths in nz half were unvaccinated, rest made up of fully vaccinated boosterd and unknown, and of the 150 deaths, 40 odd were attributed to died from the virus, why now are the more accurate numbers are being reported, why not from day one, scaremongering I'd say
  22. Can recall being at motukarara and remembering one of the best performances I've seen, and it was from a back runner, can any remember, was around mid 90s sometime, from memory, a long time ago.
  23. Certainly interesting tactics, I was going to back her but left it a tad late, was waiting for her to toss the towel in ,but she kept on fighting, quite often horses ridden against their natural racing pattern, don't usually preform well, Good result, she may make a good broodmare.
  24. When are we going to get the real numbers on the reported covid deaths, as so many seem to be reported with rather than of, but nevertheless we never hear the truth, as usual, or even how many people have recovered, maybe they just don't want us to know.
  25. Certainly interesting hearing abit more on the breeding side which always interests me, and the list of very good horses owned and trained on the coast, do remember all of them, just good to have the old memory jogged, perecolini one of my favourites when he raced at riccarton, and always seemed to give his best in some very nice races, peligro may have held a track record at Westport some years ago, think I can recall cappiemore even racing at Wellington one day, may have be a st ledger, not sure, can recall a guy of Moffat riding him at some stage of his career, and in his jumping days would have been getting over the real fences, today they are certainly not the same.
