  1. Great days racing up there today, and I'm talking through my pocket, stuck with my Westport runners that were a tad unlucky, superfast gorsey, sisters delight and boys invasion who I thought was a great bet given sat parked the trip Friday and only 4 lengths away from winner, few placings with fast lou and the diva.Weather very hot and good crowd
  2. Certainly suited some today, after following miss curious last few starts, let her go today after seeing her start favourite, crazy short odds I thought.
  3. Good fields for Friday, 11 races, anyone like anything
  4. Cheers for that, no sure why I thought it on the coast, but a good story with a happy ending, a very likeable boy Dean was, just one of the many fallen ones the industry has lost.
  5. Miles better placed 2nd in taats cup to coe placed 3rd in the 4x both in 82.
  6. Yep, you got me on a technicality there, I think Micheal either won or placed in one of the top Aussie race back in the day, do stand to be corrected though, the old memory not like it used to be, any idea who the horses are in the photo.
  7. Remember a young rider from the coast who slipped off the saddle, may have been at hokitika, looked nasty until one T.P Mathews who was along side grabbed him and hoisted him back on his horse, a time later he died riding a horse in a trial at Westport when the horse fell., Dean morel was his name, not a notable, but a nice pleasant young man, taken way to soon, was apprenticed to Ray Harris if my memory serves me correct, same as Tane Mathews, another tidy rider taken.
  8. Been along time since they had the semaphore board in centre track.
  9. Very true, not sure but he may have ridden mr ay bee and miles better in some of their wins, very nice family.
  10. Even the old whitebait an endangered species these day, according to the green party, and forest fish and bird sticking their oar in, or should that be beak, as for the poor old hoki races, all but a memory.
  11. Oh wash your mouth out, would I ever suggest such a thing.😊
  12. Interesting winner of the cup race, did have the perfect trip behind its stablemate, thought may have been a tad out of its class, but there you go.
  13. And also plenty of not so good ones that have been lost along the way.
  14. Floating around I see what he done there.
  15. Can remember some years ago a couple of trainers said the track was never the same after the changes made, and it was effectively a front runners course, shame really, when will they learn to leave well alone.Nice turnover, president pat did slip under my guard after following it over the coast circuit, never mind 12s I thought a little short, but was a average field.
  16. Never used to be a front runners course, only changed after they fiddled with it, before hand winners came from anywhere
  17. Top effort by horses and riders to avoid an accident, horses generally will do anything to avoid running over the top of someone, that person was a real wit, a f... wit, only takes one clown to ruin it for all, what next barriers like they have at the car racing, wouldn't surprise me, who is for watching races from behind a cage.
  18. None of this will apease the general public or the animal right protesters, better off with no whips across the board, even that wont be enough for protesters, as they want the whole shebang closed down.
  19. How did their betting end up overall, did they bet in all races or just a few.
  20. You never know, keep your phone on the hook, I'm sure you could do as good with a few of those royalty bred steeds, mind you we don't hear to much of those expensive ones that don't make the grade
  21. Plenty of hard luck stories in racing, and that one would be up there, grab that catalog and don't miss the next one
  22. Biff in abit of breaking in, and a prep for a 10k maiden, let's hope it goes on with it, certainly won well, and we most thank the post creator for breaking the spell.
  23. And old shad even gave it a mention, all you people must have got on, was quite discussed with the dividend, 2 minutes before the race was paying 12s, nice win, she wouldn't have been a cheap purchase.
  24. Maybe victorem can bring a change of luck tomorrow
  25. I believe draws are crucial in all racing, weather it be a sprint or a staying race, rather be tucked away on the fence than 2 or 3 wide the trip, anyday, I do find it surprising when you hear the odd comment, that the wide draw won't worry them.
