  1. Old story what happens when you cut off any sports at the grassroots level.
  2. Seems odd that greymouth race on a Monday, and reefton a Thursday, opposed to their Wednesday date which they have held for a few years now, only Saturday date is Kumara, weather and track dependent, haven't attended Kumara since there first cancellation, many years back, very over rated for me, to be fair they have a few cancelled since, someone will know exactly how many, my attendance at the other two meetings may be limited, due to them being on work days and a busy time of year, shame really, mind you some racing better than none, as the future for racing on the coast looks dicey.
  3. Interesting all three coast meetings crammed into a week, looks like no date for hokitika, were they offered the opportunity to race anywhere else, or are they finished for good.
  4. Who knows, haven't heard anything, but you wouldn't bet on anything, I did hear that they had alot of rain over the spring, with one area recorded 700 mills plus some in the period from 1st Sept till 6th November, very damp whitebait season apparently, hopefully no porkers on the loose this time.
  5. What the heck going on with the odds on copperhead rose, thought she was so short on the tote, anyone know why, fresh up no form, msybecim missing something.
  6. We dare not mention track reconstruction, any one want to offer a few more that have been fiddled with , and ended up worse off, kumara one of the front runners for sure.
  7. That's a good call, you may be looking for a long time, ifvonly it was that easy.
  8. Like invercargill, our recently retired horse, won a 2100m race down, sitting 3 wide the trip, there a couple of years back, one of 7 wins and 25 placings, even took us to the New Zealand cup one year, and went a respectable race, these days battling away with a raise the flag 6yr old who has had many issues along the way, we live in hope of just getting him to the races, nothing a given in this game.We are all living the dream, in Christchurch today, was planning a day at the races, but alas sold out, I guess 40$ more to spent at tab.
  9. You sure they had the tapes in the right spot.
  10. Be happy just to get in, but looks like all tickets sold out, never mind 40$ extra to spend at tab, as for the irrigation, always a bone of contention, some will be happy and some wont, either way I will be watching on.
  11. Agree with your thoughts, southerners done very well, and good on them, as for the madam case, I really do think some notification for punters should have posted, as one who followes horses that have a change of scenery, I know the harness game has a few horse movements notified.
  12. Starts much more even, as least you get a run for money, two good reasons I say
  13. Interesting to hear the interview after madam du soir won the last race, that she had been with Danny Crozier for the past month or so, just wondered what the rules were on horse movements or caretaker roles, as I still thought she was still trained in the deep south, should we as punters be notified of this, or maybe I have missed a notification some where, I am talking through my pocket as I have backed her many a time, being by raise the flag, as I have one of that breed, had I've have known a change of trainer or caretaker, i would have taken her, sounds like her ashburton win was under new caretaker to, thoughts anyone.
  14. Entertainment all I can think of.
  15. 40$ to get in, put a few people off, as for a family need to tack it on the mortgage to afford.
  16. Are the entry numbers limited to both harness and thoroughbred cup, are they both sold out or not. Just wondering what the rules are for both events, if or any.
  17. Impressive winner, against the usual pattern of racing up there.
  18. Yes Madam du soir going around for him, won the other week at ashburton, I had given up on her after taking her many times, reason being she is by raise the flag, hasn't left to many good ones in nz, but the aussie like them, ablaze, etah James flying agent, just to name a few.
  19. Nice win by the 7yr old mare special kay having her first start.
  20. Went to riverton cup 2yrs ago quite a good day out, had a good look around including closed tracks Wyndham, Winton, shame to be fair, had a look at gore, and invercargill, nice area down there and certainly enjoyed the brief stay, interesting their January date, I would think it will be well patronized.
  21. Racing looked good down there, only collect I got was on choice de jeu in the last, was a little short changed on the fixed odds at 8.50 v over 10s the tote, was well beaten but put up a gutsy run, when looking beaten.
  22. Checkout the track work section if your looking for a winner, maybe the trainers section has not been updated for sometime.
  23. The old story thats been happening for sometime, never a level playing field, and the battlers will always get the rough end of the pineapple, just worry that comes the time where these guys, will say buggar it, have my license, have my horses and go jam it, did the horse in question carry alot of betting money at the time, I must go back and have another look, seen two jockeys smacked over the hand yesterday for relaxing rides at the finish, some years ago would have been automatic suspension, now just a word in the ear.Show these fellas leniency or axe these races and send these battling horses to another fate very much worse, maybe .At the end of the day we all know what these races are about, and have a choice whether we want to have a bet in them.
  24. Let's just hope he keeps in the game, battler that certainly provides horse numbers for the southern circuit, and to be fair keeps these battlers competitive, where they outcome for some of these horses could be much different, great to see him get a winner yesterday, I'm a battler when it comes to punting, but every dog has its day, was lucky to get Clifton jessie yesterday at the fixed price of 126s and 21s, thought it was well overs at that, with a tidy draw and a average field, keep the account ticking along, those ones don't come up very often, but I'm always looking.
  25. Certainly can be hit and miss, sometimes more miss, seems to go through stages where it doesn't work.
