  1. Could Ultimate Machete end up in the inter-dominions?
  2. Doesn't matter which one wins...the winning training percentage will still be deposited to the same account.
  3. Blossom Lady raced in 6 Cups. Won at its third. Robalan raced in 5 Cups. Won at its fourth. Looking at the ages of the winning horses, I don't think it is possible for any horse to have won at its 4th start in recent times. Harold Logan won at 9 years old but don't know how many starts it had previously.
  4. A rather desperate night at Forbury tomorrow.....even I concede that. The only fireworks on display will probably be from rowdy student letting off sky rockets at the beach across the road after a few jars. However, I think Matau Gem is worth a bet at 4 50FF and 1 70FF. Will blast to the lead easier than it did at its last start at Timaru where it hung for 5th, take control and hopefully hang on. Has been racing far better types than is on show here. In fact, you would struggle to get a weaker field. Even average Addington form will stack up in this field. Any others tips?
  5. And now he has got Forgotten Highway in the Cup, who despite its R80 tag, is actually a live chance. What are the odds of a fairytale coming true?
  6. It is what they do and are bloody good at. Mind you, they will have to stand for awhile if previous cups are to go by and they could be left flat footed. I can see the David McCarthy rant as I write now! But will be interesting to see with the All Stars on the inside if end up with a walking start! Could be a very quick 'right'
  7. I might add, if the AS team all step it is almost a certainty one of them will win. The TAB should open a book of the AS Team V The Rest. I know who will be bloody short.
  8. It is good for the spectacle.
  9. Should R74 and R77 horses be in the Cup? Should they even be allowed to be nominated? Queen Bee Bardon is a 6 win horse. That is a C6 horse at best in the old days. She has run minor placings behind Ivana Flybe and Mossdale Rose in her last two starts which clearly shows she is out of her depth in the Cup. Mind you, Forgotten Highway has only won 5! Is it about time the powers that be had a cut off for the low rating allowed in the Cup, just to keep the standard up? I think they do.
  10. Who loves the wet? Help me you galloping boys
  11. Good for them. Be interesting to see where it ends up.....might be good over a mile lol.
  12. I believe so but somebody would have to confirm. I even thought it was at 3s or something silly like that but I maybe dreaming.
  13. I see there are only 61 nominations and the meeting is in serious jeopardy. Forbury struggles at this time of year. The last few meetings had only a 100 or so noms from memory so I wonder why they want a date at this time of year or are they just given it by the bigwigs? With Rangiora and Wyndham on the Friday and Sunday respectively, it seems like Forbury has been hung out to dry a bit.
  14. the 3 offers add up to 80k?
  15. Tiger Tara X Dream About Me X Alta Orlando X Cruz Bromac. Will pay $621. How is that for crystal ball gazing!
  16. Yes, Rangatira. Fair point.
  17. From the poorer site. The abusive one.
  18. and no, race fixing races do not count! Ha! ?
  19. As for the best winning horse performance. Much harder to identify and remember. I suppose it is those moments when you say 'what a great drive' after drawing 13 and they get the horse to the front and win or get the trail after being 4 wide lol. Any offers so far this season? Maybe Amber Lethaby on Global Domination when it looked gone on the turn but her urging and patience timed it just right. Any offers, keep em coming.
  20. As my memory fades quicker and quicker each passing year (and race) I thought I would start this thread (and the best drive one) to see if we can identify the best single performance by a horse in a race of any quality. For example, I would say the performance of the season so far was by Chicago Bull at Auckland. Or, Rosinupthebow at Timaru yesterday when it got absolutely savaged in front but by some miracle actually still won. What a performance by a horse who seemingly was just a battler. Or, Henry Hubert wining at Ashburton in 2.52 (MR 1.55) by 6 lengths. Could be really interesting to see what we accumulate over the season. But for me at this stage, Chicago Bull at Auckland. https://harness.hrnz.co.nz/gws/ws/r/infohorsews/wsd06x?Arg=hrnzg-Ptype&Arg=RaceVideo&Arg=hrnzg-RacehdrID&Arg=255794
  21. On those big tracks, mile racing is like being at an games arcade where you bet on the mechanical gallops. Like watching paint dry.
  22. Twins?
  23. A topic close to Brodie's heart. Natalie hits the horse just over the limit and gets a $1000 fine. Not her first time she has been charged. The fines are normally between 300 or 400 I think, so, 1000 for a repeat offender? I have no problem with it.
  24. I doubt I will ever be in the position of owning a horse like Laz. If I did, I wouldn't know what I would do being offered so much money for him. What a hard decision when you actually have to make it. I remember at the time supporting Lazarus' owners in their decision after what I read they said...they cared a lot. The decision, like the opinions on here, are very emotive. Who is to say which one is wrong at this stage. Now, Christen Me...that is a whole different ball game.
  25. All over red rover. A great horse. A messy ending. Still a great horse.
