The reality of 'Sir' M Cullen and his Capital Gains Tax
Kopia replied to Kopia's topic in Galloping Chat
Ask Cullen. Don't forget, in the lead up to the last election Taxinda was espousing a capital gains tax, amongst other new taxes, which she dropped due to the public outcry. they don't learn, do they? And furthermore..the reason labour wants to introduce new taxes, including a CGT, is that they never, ever learn that you have to encourage businesses to generate income. You saw what ardern did to New Plymouth. Destroy growth. Thats her motto, so that she could 'impress' the UN nazis...The dairy industry is NZ's biggest ever income earner...so labour and the greens want to reduce the dairy herd=reduce income=don't worry, we'll just tax more. -
The reality of 'Sir' M Cullen and his Capital Gains Tax
Kopia replied to Kopia's topic in Galloping Chat
No there isn't. Cullens Capital Gains Tax will hit anything sold at a profit. Including your holiday home that you inherited from your parents and will be taxed each year assuming it appreciates, even if you don't sell it!! And that painting you bought at an auction and suddenly is worth more because the artist died and his work has appreciated in value...you will have to 'value' it somehow and pay CGT without selling it...the only 'exemption' as it stands will be the house you own and are currently living in as your family home. Anything else is 'fair game' according to the rich-prick hater...who, by the way accepted the Knighthood from the Queen, even though he stated that he thought NZ should be a Republic..another labour hypocrite. The implications of this are immense. when people take a bit of time to read about what Cullen proposes they will be staggered. -
And yes this post does directly apply to racing, or more particuarly, ownership of horses. So, you've got a young horse that you bought cheap, maybe a few grand..then..Great News!! Your trainer calls with the news that the horse ..a filly,,looks promising. She goes through jump-outs, gallops up well. Now a trial...jumps ok, settles midfield, into the straight she lengthens beautifully and wins by 3 lengths..? Move along to her first race, maiden 1200m..slow to begin, storms home beaten a lip. Comes through race great, trainer says..' have had a couple of calls, is she for sale?'. You say, sheeet no! 3 weeks later, maiden 1400m, slow again, swoops wide around turn, pisses in by 4 lengths..jeeze!! Now..all of this time you've been paying training fees, etc etc, not claiming a cent. So far she's cost you about $30k all up...roll the dice again, 1600m..wahoo wins again with strong run! Now the phones are definitely ringing. Cut to the chase....you get offered huge $$$ from across the ditch ( is this sounding familiar?) anyway, this is 12 months from today. In the preceding time Taxi and her cronies have-against their promises-gone along with Cullen on his crusade to tax the shit out of anyone remotely being successful and making a quid and installed a 'Capital Gains Tax. So you,as owner of this filly, have to factor in that if you sell her, be ready to pay anything up to 33% of your 'profit' to Taxi and Robertson. Is that fair? I'd say only Tommo will say that it is. And guess what? In the finer details of cullens scheming he's slipped in that KIWISAVER yearly 'profit' will attract Capital Gains Tax. How feckin stupid is that..I'd have to say that Kiwisaver is about the only good idea labour has ever come up with. But wait...your money is already taxed when its earned anything by investment by your 'provider'..so these pricks want to tax it again...every year! Should have left cullen to spend his huge govt pension in retirement I say..surely someone independent shoulod have done this 'enquiry' into CGT ?

Does anyone have an update on Maija's condition..? I thought I heard alysha collett on weigh in say that she was home and using a walking aid..?
-
Jeeeeze tommo, some people are trying to eat their dinner!?
-
Don't panic Tommo!! Helens got a new plan for Taxi..when it looks like the mindless rabble have grown tired of the propaganda from the thought police...time to wind up the snow-man Taxi, crank out a set of twins!! even better...triplets!! it'll have them laying down for you, no matter what dribble comes out of the labour/greens/peters coalition, can't beat babies for making news eh ? Happenned last time, It's a winner kid. Then again....Judiths on the warpath...??
-
When the smiling assassin...Judith Collin.......rolls Simon then the fun will really start? Nats at least 60%, peters..who?...greens....byebye....labour....low 20's....
-
If he has resigned then why would he get a golden handshake? Unless there's more to this than has been revealed so far, i.e. he is protecting someone else? Nothing would surprise.
-
Well Tommo we're still waiting for your best friend win to do something....anything...after his 'groundbreaking' release of the propped-up report from his aussie mate...one of the 'recommendations' was a review of riu...which is long overdue, given their incompetence, money wasting, favourable treatment of 'special' jockeys and drivers....this could have been initiated in day one after the big reveal in Hamilton...still nothing,,? What, Winnie and his coalition mates ( GREENS and Labour) not getting on?

Yes all the returns that NZTR require could be done online very easily...the only reason that they ( NZTR ) haven't pursued that avenue is....$$$$$$$..and in my opinion the TAB should be paying a fee to the owner every time a horse starts in a race...jeeze we supply their 'product' for punters to bet on! Might make all the charges to race a horse a little bit more palatable?
-
Thats much appreciated, thanks. I was thinking that if NZTR had any financial input then it should be free, at least the online version. They charge $125 just to amend the ownership of a horse F.F.S....

Is this publication funded to any degree by the racing industry..? Reason I'm wondering, more and more of the on-line content is blocked unless your'e paying a subscrition...it costs nearly $10 a week for a hard copy issue. Some of the articles being published look very interesting and topical, love to read them but the old finances don'tstretch to paying the going rate. I think Dennis Ryan should think about letting the more topical articles to be read by all.

Once upon a time in a land far away...no its not a fairy tale, remember when to some extent the buck stops at the top? What we have in NZ, and its endemic, not just racing, is a total lack of responsibilty. You've got a guy who supposedly is the 'General Manager' of the Racing Incomptetence Unit who just sits on his ass and fiddles...these matters should have been dealt with months ago, no wonder the people at ground level who actually do the work are totally frustrated/pissed off with Godber... Still, when you look at whats going on with this clown Lees-Galloway as a Govt Minister...now it transpires that he bullshitted when he said he wasn't aware of the criminal history of the Czech criminal who should never have been allowed into NZ..what really took place was that Lees-Galloway coudn't be bothered reading the information he was given-which included all the information he needed. Ardern should demand his resignation-but she won't-too PC, might hurt his feelings..more to the point it shows how weak she really is, talk about 'alice looking into the looking glass..how wonderful you are'! I mention this as there is a correlation between the RIU and this namby pamby bunch calling themselves a govt...its called a lack of accountability.

Looks like there is one at Auckland Trots on friday...with betting? should be interesting!☺️

The other difference is....Victoria is a wealthy State, creating income from various sources. What we have here in NZ is Jones and Ardern wandering around NZ, Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea etc etc handing out money as if there's no tomorrow. And what have they done to create income? The money they continue to hand out all over the place was generated by the National Govt...Arderns only fiscal 'claim to fame--not' is dictatorially cancelling oil and gas exploration so she could look good at the UN piss up... Lap it up Tommo the wolfs at the door..?
-
After watching this, esp the interview with Pike ( President-trainers assn; committee member Cambridge jc,etc, etc) you have to wonder why people bother being on committees. Basically he said what he's been saying-and not doing-for years. You get what you deserve and boy is the racing industry getting that in spades now...tracks stuffed, prizemoney pitiful and stagnant, sales dropping, export markers losing ground, silly old minister who can't even be bothered updating industry since the promised land of the messiah report months ago....not one of the suggested avenues to improve the industry has been acted upon...the so-called saviour for the galloping industry ( 'synthetic' tracks) still pie in the sky..jeeze does peters think they'll just pop up overnight? ever heard of engineering reports, resource consents, impact reports,....these things all take time, could have been already underway but what do we get? feck all.
-
Transactions involving horses seem so casual at times...how many times do you hear..'yeah, though it was sold but the money never came through' etc..? a simple sale and purchase agreement with names/$$$/dates/etc would surely overcome some of this..?
-
Tommo you wasted 3 words in the heading to this....the last 3 ?
-
No surprise there Weasel..remember last year they were going to start a 1200m race from the incorrect position...if it wasn't for an alert punter the race would have been voided...is Foskett working for the TAB now?
-
Correct Freda. The manner in which NZTR have insisted tracks are presented is fundamentally flawed. There needs to be a new philosophy. Not all 'new' ideas are constructive and result in good outcomes. ⛷️

The word we don't hear is...accountability...because there is none. If the R.I.U operated as a private company there would be checks and balances, eventually heads would roll if cock-ups were revealed. Doesn't happen in the R.I.U. In spite of there being a ' General Manager' and an 'Integrity Committee'. it is clear that the buck stops...nowhere. How anyone can have confidence in Godber is beyond me, and also beyond a lot of other people, he is a ' vacillator'...( look up the dictionary if you don't get it ). Making a decision for him is..to not make a decision. Can't tell me he isn't aware of the criticisms, as are other people high in the 'food chain' but they just look the other way and pretend it's not their problem. Tommo your'e correct , the system in NZTR protects the under/non achievers...of which their are plenty.

And meantime, Minister Peters says/does.....S.F.A.

If you watch the finish of TAS's race at Christchurch you'll see OP urging him..he was never extended before then, never at Hastings either especially when Coleman rode him..I reckon OP was just trying him out to see what he had left...which was plenty..! This is a serious horse, he's better than any of the previous Te Akau pretenders...I think he was on a learning curve at Chch and thats why OP wanted him to learn about being pushed to the finish...outstanding horse..

Stewards adjourn enquiry into defeat of $1.50 hot pot.... No, not here, this was Rosehill on Saturday..." A perceived lack of vigour aboard odds on favourite Roheryn has landed jockey Josh Parr in hot water at Rosehill on Saturday...chief Steward Marc Van Gestel asked PARR " do you not hink you could have put your horse under more pressure earlier?" Betting figures, riding instructions, riders interviews are ongoing, while films are being further analysed... Read this and weep you NZ stewards...your abysmal effort after the race at Ellerslie only confirms your ineptness and lack of ability when a 'senior' rider is under the spotlight..easy pickings on apprentices and battlers eh?
