I think it comes down to personal preferences..we all have an opinion about horses and we all have our own criteria about what makes a 'champion'...Until Winx started her amazing sequence of wins, 3 Cox Plates ( and a 4th will happen too ) I thought Sunline was the best horse I ever saw. She was a real 'bull' if you can call a mare that...however comparing Sunlines Cox Plate times to Winx's..well, Winx wins by about 12 lengths... It would be interesting to see a Cox Plate with a horse/mare like Sunline in her 100% top form leading into the home straight by several lengths...could she be beaten by Winx ? No question, Winx would come home faster and the others would get the wobbles. At the moment there is no horse racing in Australia/NZ who could do that to Winx. Or anywhere else??

This is sounding like so much bullshit...2 inches of sand? was nobody watching? Did the useless riu do a track inspection on the morning of the races? come on, this club calls itself a metropolitan racecourse...more like a feckin metropolitan icecream.

I do remember those horses.....and she would have beaten them both, in my opinion. Have a look at her after she raced last Saturday....when she was walking around before the rug was put on her. First time I've seen sweat up over saddle like that. I think there's huge improvement in her after that run. I don't care who the opposition is...in australia....she's head and shoulders above them. And Dalghar might have been a top racehorse-but lets see him run those times at Rosehill/Randwick/Flemington...

I meant to add...for one of the first times in history, I agree with Thommmass.....the rules should be amended to allow for a protest against a horse when it wins after a thrashing like this.

The mare that won the Foxbridge Plate didn't weaken 1/2 way up the straight. She was too scared to. The absolute thrashing she got was disgraceful. Maybe not against the present rules. But it should be. The stipes on duty at Te Rapa should hang their heads in shame. That was terrible to watch, and if you needed any more ammunition to ban whips completely, that race was it. Have we come to the lowest point in racing in this country that a horse has to be thrashed mercilessly to win?

They do not run 32.33 seconds for the last 600m of any races in England, France, Italy..or anywhere else in Europe ( unless they're running on premium grade fuel? )...Winx has nothing to prove in Europe/USA/Dubai/Hong Kong..she's the best EVER in my humble opinion. Let the pretenders come to Aussie and have a shot at her...

I wonder if it's because of the proliferation in 'medications' which mask or give temporary relief to minor unsoundness so horses can still train/race ? It'll catch up with horses eventually and result in more serious injury. If a horse can't 'feel' pain which it would usually do if carrying an injury then it may race well but suffer the consequences later ?

I don't dislike Winstone Peters Thoomarso....in fact he reminds me of a grandfather I had onceuponatime....he had dementia too, only time he made any sense at all was when he was allowed a hit at the Johnny W....then quickly reverted to type, dribbled, was paranoid, sometimes when his memory allowed him to he would bask in memories of the Great War....yep the more I think of it he was very similar to Winnie..

Nothing will change in respect of the auckland racing club-they have consistantly displayed an arrogance which has led to the current situation=apart from old grizzlies, most of the year nobody goes there to watch races. If the board at the club had any common sense they would have put a stop to their temporary attempts to stop their track being a pig and waited until the Messara report came out, and co-ordinated the installation of a decent-read Strathayr-track with whatever Peters has promised the industry. But they know better.?

Actually your'e right hesi...in fact he has apparently said he is going to release it 'in its' entirity'...once he's read it.. SO...why not release it right away? Why shouldn't all of us, i.e. anyone who has any interest or part to play in the racing industry read it at the same time he does? Only one reason that I can think of, and thats because he's in the crapper with his coalition partner/s GREENS and LABOUR over promises he has made and is trying to figure out how to extract himself before we all get to see what Mr Massara is predicting.
