  1. Very interesting to read John Bary's comments re the HB Guineas being moved, seems they are catering to a select few! Good onya boyo, one trainer who speaks the truth, the downfall of NZ racing will be pinned on that select few in the years to come, it needs louder shouting, however, if any other trainer with gonads bigger than marbles decides to shout, then there might be hope, some hope anyway, but it's getting awfully close to doomsday.
  2. Divisions they called them, chaotic was more apt.
  3. Went to the barrier one day at Waverley, 1200m maiden, about 15 of us went first and we were put into a paddock next to the barriers, another 15 came around and they loaded them in, off they went and then in we went.......where on earth did we get all those jocks from?........and most could ride as well......except me.......ye haaa.....circa 1969.
  4. Yep, I can.
  5. Oh, cmon, we've been down that track, Wogs? do you know what that means per chance? I bet you don't, When I arrived in Oz in April 1973, I worked in a factory and rode work in the morning, I worked with a lot of Yugoslav ladies, lovely women, they couldn't understand why there were referred to as Wogs......it was actually Wops, that was the derogatory name given to Italians, Greeks and Baltic/Mediterranean immigrants.......Wogs was the derogatory word for people of colour, as in....Golliwog......I hope you are now au fait Mikey. Oh by the way, it's Freedman, my next door neighbour for 5 years at Flemington, and a great family of horsemen, highly intelligent with the results to match.....no one gets near DLF, the record book proves that.
  6. Thankfully most Roc de Cambes that cross the ditch win on all surfaces, and not all are stayers either.........
  7. Perusing the fields for Saturday one is alarmed at the semi-absence of the once mighty Pike stable? Only 3 runners in the Waikato on a huge day and only 1-2 at Taranaki? This time of the year Tony is usually full on........Te Akau have huge numbers, even dwarfing the entries/acceptances Waller perpetrates on SYD racing, in all my life I've never seen a stable dominate numbers like TA.....the maiden 1400 is an example, at least Waller holds up some races in SYD, although a few trainers I know personally dodge Waller as they can't get the jock they want. I can't remember Pike being so low on numbers, surely there is another reason? A behemoth stable like that with so few runners?........Marsh seems light on also, nowhere near the limited offering Tony has produced, is there something going on up there? Massive day of racing Saturday, here and there, will TA train the card? Will the bookies be betting on how many winners Walker will train?...........Heavy track a certainty in Syd, could be bottomless, might just have a bo peep at NZ racing then, God help me, anyone tip me a winner.........?
  8. I know it's past your bedtime over there, but........I'm referring to the demise of racing in the south, mainly HQ, Riccarton, the state of the track, the training tracks other than the new toy, and all things shit.....the grandstand, the insurance fuck up, it's becoming like Trentham, soon the crowd will be, trainers, owners, jocks, strappers, vet, barrier staff and the three drunks and the P addict that have been sleeping rough in the urinals........and the two old ladies at the Tote windows.........and maybe the junk food purveyor in the van of old.......shall I go on. Lets not count the committee room, that's cheating, lets keep it real. There are terrific tracks not being used because of the brain donors up north, the 'gente' didn't shout very loud, and if they did it went unnoticed in Petone.......FFS, someone put their hand up, someone's responsible, someone........ I remember a wonderful Riccarton, is that so horrible, if there is no strategic plan for the place, then sell the whole shebang off and build a fit for purpose facility to suit all.......problem solved, just make a fucking decision.......for the sake of the younger generation....you old farts. They closed Caulfield for training, and most, most went out to two purpose built wonderful facilities at Cranbourne and Pakenham......it's called progress, FFS........the lunatics are loose in the asylum, we know it, and unfortunately they know it.....you know it makes sense.
  9. IMO for racing to survive firstly, then grow at Riccarton THEY do need to shout loudly! Pitty has a son, he's the future, or the hope of the side, not Pitty, I'm way older than him, but his son and the other stable that has numbers need to shout and gather support FFS.....I do fear it's too late Brian, no doubt there are people who wont stand behind those two, that's life, whether it's petty jealousy or small mindlessness who knows, but it's got to where it is because of one thing....Inertia! For Gods sake, shouldn't everyone stand shoulder to shoulder, forget differences to achieve just the one common goal. Our gen has a lot to answer for yes, and young blokes like Mathew need support, they wont have a fucking industry because of dicks like those that held the CEO and above jobs at Petone, there should have been massive militant action taken against the fools that destroyed our brilliant industry, the self interest of that small breast beating brigade that had the ear of the mental pygmies at HQ have prospered, while the majority are hanging on by their fingernails and stay only because they love horses, and in many cases are too old to do anything else. I don't apologise for being pointed and aggressive, if I lived there I would do a lot more than hit keys I can tell you that, I'd make life bloody uncomfortable for the select few, I's stand on Jackson St with a sandwich board and a megaphone. I do bet that there are more than a few that go to work in that building every day and who do give a damn, but are hamstrung and/or helpless to make change, that must be bloody hard, and there must be more club presidents and secretaries out there that draw blood through biting their bottom lip due to Petone and it's actions, however unless there is a damn revolution and the generals rally the troops nothing will change, and I just will never believe, never, ever that that's what all those committed, passionate surviving racing participants want for Riccarton and the South, if I'm wrong, then I'm a fuckwit and am wasting my time .......que sera que sera.
  10. And just to add to a very poignant post, where on earth is the trainers association on this, that rabble of paper tigers, sycophants, call them what you want, Chris Wood was the last straw for me, although he sprukes he 'left that mob', his written acknowledgement complimenting the good job Saundry did was insulting and reflects on the different attitudes shown by the north in comparison to those suffering most in the CD and the South. The industry is divided, and it shows, I don't understand how the large Canterbury stables did not show strength and a united front? maybe it's the age difference, as I'm an old fart, however to see ex Southern trainers earning a good quid up here in QLD says little for the provinces they left. At their age to have to up sticks to remain viable in an industry they obviously love proves that apathy and disrespect is rampant in NZ......not only in the racing industry, but across the board. The QLD or rather BNE trainers stood as one against a tyranny of stupidity, ignorance and authoritarianism displayed by the governing body and it worked, it had to, it was either them or us, so to speak, but it proved correct. Am I being severe, you betcha, why, cos I give a fuck, if I do and I'm 3000km away why the hell can't those that can do far my than I.....that's my worry, dont know why I do, but I do, silly fucker that I am.
  11. Geez TC I can't agree with that, this years foal crop is the smallest ever, as much as I detest the breeding cartel, without breeders there are no horses, and to maintain a healthy foal crop you need buyers, one begets the other......black type is every breeders hope, its what keeps most going. I along with most of you fear for NZ racing, the administration has let us all down, the buck stops at the top, they wont take the responsibility for that though, so the misery is compiling, sadly.......
  12. If spin was an olympic sport that mob would be Shane Warne's.......
  13. BTW, the stallion just keeps getting winners, she's a sprinting Roc, but he got a winner the day before in NSW over 2000, Payne had two full bros in MEL and they knocked up winning races in the city, IMO the most underrated and versatile stallion on the roster, if he had of got the mares those hyped stallions got, god alone knows where he would have gone......the stratosphere perhaps?
  14. Hope the roll continues next week up in the Kato......go you good thing.
  15. Same bloke that sacked the bloody good jock from Pongaroa, one Linda Meech from Thought Of That in the VIC Derby, now Linda being the trooper she is copped it, Michelle Payne on the other hand let loose and gave it to him.......if there is a Karma bus, and we all know there is, it's a double decker and it's mowed him down and reversed back......ye haaa, shame for that lovely mare, but beaut for him!
  16. Why they took an Oz jock is beyond me, it was an ordinary ride being kind, she had no chance with the run he gave her, none.
  17. Stupidity 1-50, anything else, write your own ticket.
  18. Let's stop being kind shall we? face it, there are fuckwits involved here, and good grassroots people suffer accordingly. It should be called out for what it is, sheer fuckwuitism and incompetence. How many decent buggers have buggered off into the sunset, yet these yobbos keep their high paid jobs.......wouldn't happen in any other industry.
  19. Should we race the horses in lanes? Now that would help NZ jockeys immensely Chief.....
  20. I got ill when I perused the CNW docket, who in their right mind would shop there? although from memory the car park was full of RangeRovers/Beemas/Mercs etc......whereas Push and Shove were Toyotas, Mazdas, Zephyr6's ford prefects Hilman Imps ford escorts...you get the point.....
  21. Ohhhh, naughty boy.
  22. I doubt that, go on spill.......6 figures surely if it's as you say...NZ's premier site........
  23. How much is Mutley paying you Turny?
  24. Bit difficult to organise that in Devonport I would imagine, ....now South AKL might be a different story?????
  25. Its no secret the overseas agencies secure a sweetheart deal re tax, they pay considerably less than their Oz counterparts....
