  1. If Centaur is correct re his statement he heard Ellis say what he did, then 'Big Dave'' needs to apologise, he may have been taken out of context, or Centaur may have misheard, but if Ellis did say that, well it's beyond comprehension.......
  2. Some of the old time trainers used to rub mud into their horses unclipped coats to get the 'right price' Freda's on new ground here, stuff of legends!
  3. Apparently Curious had lippy on.......looking fabulous......I bet not looking so flash now........#champagnerules
  4. What a difference a class jock makes, a bloody masterclass by Chris......good onya Pam....you go girl. Congrats to Curious, got heaps I hope.....
  5. Why did they close Rangiora? I wasn't living there, however wasn't a young girl killed in a race? or a barrier trial, and if you look at Tony Williams, is the wheelchair cheaper than death? FFS, If Ellis is trying to lessen this, I wonder why?....why?
  6. Freda doesn't need me to go in to bat for her, however you're a dick fo that comment, Freda has given riders in the S I stick over the years when it was deserved, even her own.........Taiki's death is as much the fault of the Japanese system as it is whoever caused the fall, allegedly Weatherley, so many young Japanese riders have to go overseas to do the 'learning', the Japanese have a lot to answer for, their culture is slowly being dragged into the 21st century but poor Taiki was the victim in two cases here and it fucking stinks.......clean up your act NZ and enforce harsher penalties on errant jockeys, here in Oz we have a few culprits that escaped lightly from tragic falls resulting in the deaths or maiming of horses, so in effect all racing jurisdictions should clean up their act with NZ and Japan leading the way!! There, I've said it!
  7. Hey NM, check out the replays of last weeks Ballarat synthetic farce, the kick back was worse than Baywatch, jocks wearing goggles and visors, the vets rubbing their hands with glee, it'll be gone this time next year, that or most of the surviving horses.........only the attrition trainers are getting a kick out of this shite, here....and there......
  8. The Marx bros, Keystone Cops, Blind Freddie, God's Dog, Ned Kelly and Robin Hood apparently. There were a few more but they wish to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, and a few got in under the fence.........ye haaaa
  9. And the vertically challenged restauranteur on the canine Chanel is singing Mills praises? Was Mills in the know? maybe not, he doesn't know much at all, sadly.
  10. Thanks NM, sadly the Chief didn't get the 70-1 she opened at, the 80's was even tastier, especially as she started 22-1 on the tote! Now all we need is No 14 to win mate, and hope the Eminent's run.......
  11. Always happy to help those in need Chief, always.
  12. What about tactical awareness......
  13. “Punters are suffering”: Sportsbet stands firm in QLD tax fight Bookmaker Sportsbet will continue its relegation of Queensland racing as calls for an overhaul of the state’s fee structure intensify.
  14. Oh yes it is, more so in fact, rural QLD they are rabid punters, the problem is with the piss poor sick and festering State Gov, their take out and financial rape of the pools and now the bookmakers is gut wrenching, so much so, Sportsbet don't advertise the QLD fields anymore, you have to search for them........there you go.
  15. And as I said, gambling culture, most of those days are at small country towns and yet hundreds arrive on coaches or broomsticks in some cases, any shortfall is made up from the huge surplus that is derived from the mainstream meetings, and to support real, real grass roots racing. Lots of million dollar buys end their days racing at those far flung meetings, sometimes a second, third or fourth chance......thank God, they also provide incomes for bush bookies, bush trainers and bush owners, and a brilliant day out for everyone else.
  16. Gambling culture Brian, Gambling culture, purely and simply.
  17. He was my next-door neighbour for 5 years at Flemington, I'll never understand, ever, why a man with that talent is here on the Gold Coast........he doesn't even wear white shoes FFS!
  18. I've not renewed my licence for this year in QLD as it's not far in advance of NZ, run by morons, and as they lag so far behind NSW in everything, why bother, The Goldie will be a bomb site for a fair while with all the reconstruction, and ''synthetic' going in, so we will leave our horses with a trainer over the border at Ballina. Only one hour away and looking at how the racing is going, country prize money and now the country races get 2 races a day worth K30 restricted to country trained only!!.......that's just terrific and a beaut incentive. Sadly Queensland is so far behind it's not funny, it was a corrupt state back when Joh bolted from NZ and ran things here, when I got here in 73 Big Russ Hinze ran racing and it was the ultimate boys club, not a lot has changed, the corruption is a little worse, so that's how bad it was back then, so NSW are the messiah's and industry leaders, why NZ is tailing off begs the question, is NZ corrupt? or just plain hopeless? only honest answers accepted. Racing NSW Announces $30m Prizemoney Increases & Record Infrastructure Investment Racing NSW today announced a further $30 million in prizemoney increases along with record investment in infrastructure and an additional share of prizemoney for both equine welfare and stable staff. As detailed below, these latest prizemoney announcements totalling $30 million will see total prizemoney paid in NSW increase to $358 million per annum. This is an increase of $239 million, or more than triple the prizemoney levels from 2012. Minimum prizemoney increases Minimum prizemoney for all levels of Country racing have been increased as follows: Picnic minimum prizemoney increases from $5,000 to $7,000 Non-TAB minimum prizemoney increases from $10,000 to $12,000 Sky 2 minimum prizemoney increases from $15,000 to $16,000 Country TAB minimum prizemoney increases from $25,000 to $27,000 In addition to the above minimum prizemoney increases, two races at every Country TAB race meeting will now be restricted to NSW Country trained horses only and will carry prizemoney of $30,000. Two races at every Country Showcase meeting will also be restricted to NSW Country trained horses and will carry prizemoney of $35,000. At some meetings this will be increased to three races. Additional prizemoney will also be offered in the Provincial sector, with two races at each Provincial race meeting carrying prizemoney of $45,000. One of these races will be restricted to Provincial trained horses only and the other will be restricted to Midway trained horses only. To build on the success of the Highway and Midway races, prizemoney for these races will increase from $100,000 to $120,000 per race at Saturday Metropolitan race meetings. Spring feature race increases In addition to the above minimum prizemoney increases, a number of feature races in spring have also received increases in prizemoney as follows: The Concorde Stakes will increase from $160,000 to $500,000 The Shorts will increase from $500,000 to $1 million The Premiere Stakes will increase from $500,000 to $1 million The Kosciuszko will increase from $1.3 million to $2 million The Sydney Stakes will increase from $500,000 to $2 million The Nature Strip stakes will increase from $1 million to $3 million There will also be two new races added to the spring carnival. A $1 million race will be added to Everest Day, called the Five Diamond Prelude, over 1500m for 5yos only, providing a lead up for the Five Diamonds. Also, a new $500,000 race will be added to Big Dance Day, called the Little Dance, for those horses eligible, but unable to gain a start in The Big Dance. New $6 million Sportsbet Sydney Sprint Series bonus The Everest is the feature of the NSW Spring Racing Carnival and the popularity of The Everest has quickly seen the surrounding sprint races develop significant interest and betting turnover. To further grow these sprint races across spring, a new $6 million bonus fully sponsored by Sportsbet will be paid to the horses winning the most points across the following six races. These races will be known as the Sportsbet Sydney Sprint Series: Race Name Date Track Distance Concorde Stakes 3 Sep 22 Randwick 1000m The Shorts 17 Sep 22 Randwick 1100m Premiere Stakes 1 Oct 22 Randwick 1200m The Everest 15 Oct 22 Randwick 1200m Sydney Stakes 15 Oct 22 Randwick 1200m Nature Strip Stakes 29 Oct 22 Randwick 1300m Points will be awarded based on 5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th and 1 point for 5th in each of the first 5 races. Double points will be awarded for the Nature Strip Stakes on Golden Eagle Day. It will also be a condition of the bonus that horses must have competed in at least 3 races in the series to be eligible. Autumn feature race increases There have also been increases in prizemoney for key races during the Sydney Autumn Carnival: The Queen Elizabeth Stakes will increase from $4 million to $5 million The Doncaster Mile will increase from $3 million to $4 million The TJ Smith Stakes will increase from $2.5 million to $3 million The Galaxy will increase from $700,000 to $1 million The Ranvet Stakes will increase from $700,000 to $1 million Infrastructure funding Also announced today was an infrastructure project fund of $125 million that will be delivered by Racing NSW over the next two years. This project fund includes $70 million in grants received from the NSW State Government who continue to support the NSW Thoroughbred Racing Industry participants and $55 million set aside by Racing NSW. These projects range from construction of stables, new training tracks, course proper works, customer facilities, raceday amenities and jockeys rooms right across the state. Racing NSW will continue to work with race clubs and participants regarding the allocation of these funds. Change in prizemoney distribution In July 2012 Racing NSW introduced the 1.5% strappers bonus, being the first state in Australia to do so. This bonus provides a significant reward for the industry’s lowest paid workers, letting them share in the success of their stables. As part of announcements today, Racing NSW will be increasing the strappers bonus from 1.5% to 2% of prizemoney. In October 2016 Racing NSW introduced the Equine Welfare Fund which receives 1% of all prizemoney paid, being the first state in Australia to do so. These funds are used to care for, retrain and rehome NSW Thoroughbred racehorses. This Equine Welfare Fund share of prizemoney will increase to 1.5%. The above prizemoney increases and changes in the distribution of prizemoney will come into effect from 1 September 2022. A schedule of all increases is attached to this release. Racing NSW Chairman, Russell Balding AO said: “NSW Country racing is the bedrock of our industry, it is important therefore that we ensure the ongoing viability of country racing and the sustainability of our country trainers. “Total prizemoney for Everest Day will now be a staggering $21.8 million which far exceeds any other race meeting in Australia and cements Everest Day’s place on the International Stage of premier racing,” Mr Balding AO added. 19. Don't you find it strange that the 'big wigs' mainly north of the thermal pools are always silent? Why is that do you think? When they do say something, it's a whisper, not a roar, .....funny that.
  20. Doomed we could all rock up to Jackson St with a set of jumper leads and try to start something? Sound Like a plan?
  21. How do they fund stakes then? If they are to stay the same or increase where's that money coming from? Accountancy was never a strong point in Petone, if the TAB traded whilst insolvent [bring on a royal commission] what's the chances NZTR are next? Ms Ardern has the keys to the printing press, best keep them in the safe as Sharrock and the gang will be lurking shortly.
  22. Mills would last 5min in Oz, he'd be punted quick smart, Siamese twin of Saundry, separated at birth.
  23. Therein lays the difference tween NZ and Oz, as the VIC Racing Minister said recently '' we recognise the significant contribution racing brings to Victoria and it's people'' both financial and through employment. It's huge, we are talking billions of dollars to the VIC GOV. NSW is same and the other states are not far behind. The gambling culture which was intrinsic in the very evolution of racing when King Charles instigated stakes racing on the New Market heath back in the 1700's, is responsible for our very existence, as racing and it's thousands of taxpaying participants and employees contribute in so many ways. NZ for whatever reason, [sadly NO bookmakers....we don't count Petone as bookmakers, they should be arrested for impersonating same] never evolved and expanded, hence the lack of interest with young folk. The syndicators here are run off their feet, so many young people are buying shares in horses, it's booming, NZ is going the other way, it's a culture problem, and with close to 800k Kiwis moving to Australia a new culture evolved in NZ, across all aspects of life, it has to, when people vote with their feet, it leaves behind a demographic, those that are content with their lot, and those that aren't but are not in position to change, and that causes problems within itself.
  24. Can I politely ask? In the advent of a change of Government at your next election, would it not be prudent to canvass/lobby your shadow racing minister to 'change' re-write the constitution whereby the racing act with this ''land stealing'' could/would be reversed? Surely the vast majority of racing industry participants would sign a petition and also vote to remove this ''legal'' and predatory piece of legislation? If not I sadly declare, you got what you deserve and suck it up......cos this stinks to high heaven and the corpse is unrecognisable.
  25. Mrs Bloggs is just about to leave for her 'day job'. She is a volunteer at our local RDA, Riding for the disabled, she is on the committee, today's roll up is huge, it's the horses birthday, and Mrs Bloggs and a few other hardy souls are going to the Mall to buy carrots, apples and party hats for the disabled kids that will arrive on coaches and spend the day in party mode with what are surely some of the loveliest creatures God created. The joy these kids derive from their interaction with the horses is priceless, the horses are very fortunate also as they have a great life and because of their placid and amiable natures carved out a niche career instead of retirement to a paddock or far far worse. There are too little racehorses being re-homed into RDA, many racehorses would make great RDA horses, there is currently a Government grant process in place here in QLD to encourage the re-training and placement of suitable horses, and it's being embraced wholeheartedly, so, today being the horses birthday, we wish all horses a very happy day and a long and healthy career and/or life, be it what it may and in what sphere.......
