  1. But eventually it will. I mentioned milkshakes and elephant juice through this thread , as they were relatively common in use, at some stage , but when accurate testing brought in they stopped overnight. well actually time to time, each month or 2, a MUG trainer will get caught still with a raised bicarb CO2 threshold and be bundled out !!! THAT is why I said it is much more likely to be a desparado small stable breaking the rules, than the smarter BIG stables , (not stupid enough to do that ) using out-ruled treatments , earlier to you. Sure if you are using something that testing doesn't Pick up , Why not use it if it helps horse ??
  2. Haha there are 'different' elements in the pre-race milkshakes Chief. At one stage it was suggested BEst results were if administered just one hour before Race-time with certain mixes. That caused a few horses to go missing on a walk from the stabling area on occasion. lol .not stables I was with , but there were some prominent ones BTW , I swear on dead mother and fathers graves I Never once gave a pre-race drench... so don't think little of me. lol..... (only drive at speed limits too lol...)
  3. Yes am sure All the worlds top cyclists for example take 'wear and tear' shots everyday. You just can't perform at that level riding over Mountain ranges , etc day after day without performance enhancing drugs. They made a big deal about Lance Armstrong , but it take a LONG TIME to trace all the drugs and 'Masking ' agents used. The Truth is , they all take something to feel good, look good ,GO good ....... day after day. Horses all get something to help with that too, I used to tube saline drench every Sunday , all the Saturday night Metro runners and give them a swim and they'd be feeling great again by Monday, ready for another crack next weekend. Part of the challenge is keeping them well (Pentosan sounds useful Chief!!) , then you drive them well, then you win. (All going well)
  4. curious, Is that because of Budget to afford treatments? or the outstanding results over 30-40 years that lead you to predict 'Not tested for' performance enhancers.? from the 'obvious ' stable. Why not relatives like brother Barry ? (miracle mile wins over the years) brother in law Tony Herlihy (wins galore) or Nat's sister Vicki Rassmussen ? (outstanding QLD results) They are on talking terms and ALL win heaps ?
  5. Hahahaha No , joint disease treatment. thankfully the old joints are ok at present so don't need any, maybe crack another beer though ! lol.........
  6. In NZ , i think you will find is the reference
  7. Most trainers give a Vitamin B to keep horses well, but yes the ALLStars had / have incredible record as per Waller and Te Akau for doing everything so well and looking for the edge on opponents (as well as fab riders/ drivers) The ALLSTARS horses are even 'labelled urgent' with the ugly white nasal patches (Dunn's Use them a bit too) so you can see straight away , they have that something extra on the rivals externally, let alone internally , lol........... The nasal strips giving that extra metre or 2 because horse had tiny bit more Oxygen than rival. Brilliant !!
  8. There wasn't accurate testing for that substance at the time , that the horse (and many others ) perished from or partly because of (obviously effected the hearts) to confirm cause of death. Obviously, once the testing arrived at the swab lab's , the substance was made illegal , and it disappeared from use.
  9. A Truely Great Result !! if that is true. There Must be just good horsepeople and clean horses 99% of time . think about it, and you see the RIU doesn't 'WANT ' to catch people . It helps deter them. Just like the Booze Bus, they don't want to catch people 'over the limit' if possible. But will if they have to. Without them there would be drunks driving everywhere. BUT With them about, People 'try' and do the right thing , and stay under the allowed limits. As Trainers do with their beloved racehorses and their treatments. (didn't RIU catch out McGrath?) Excellent !! I always said it's all good and what is everyone going on about.????? Accusing ALLSTARS all the time by so many is just Unwarranted. Mainly because for years and years they have Won races in Australia too (different testing of swabs/ bloods than NZ) and would NOT of got away with any illegal administrations in the horses. As you say NOTHING to find.
  10. Do you remember when the 'elephant' juice turned up from USA? Very much in the thoroughbred world but not exclusively. It's A tranquilizer used to steady circus elephants and the like, but in 'Small' doses could be used as a stimulant in horses. (1000 times stronger than its relative substance morphine) Alas many horses were subject to some 'frightening' and 'lethal 'experiences with it. Thank the Gods that testing caught up with stuff like this !!! Here's a use example quote below.............. In the 1987 Perth Cup Connell’s Rocket Racer won by nine lengths, charged past the line and couldn’t be pulled up. When the horse and jockey eventually returned to the mounting yard, he was too ill to be swabbed, collapsed and died a month later after having only one more start. It was assumed that the horse had been injected with etorphine or ‘elephant juice’ which was a popular, but illegal doping substance being used with horses at the time.
  11. I think Galah is saying the RIU presence , and more accurate testing has made the 'Doping' occurrences way less frequent. a good thing. (should do pre-race bloods like QLD does too) No good worrying about 'milkshakes' from last century like Newmarket. Thats a galaxy away now as you say. All horses racing are given performance enhancers (legal ones) in the form of feed ,IV, Drench etc additives, supplements , vitamins , whatever it takes to keep your horse feeling great and therefore race great. You'd be lucky to even qualify if relying on oats and hay to get you there. Sometimes overdosing of treatments is going to happen , sometimes internal staff error (Waller had an 'Ice' +ve one year from a horse , lol.....) very, very few would risk a +ve by 'deliberate' administration of an illegal substance. RIU has cleaned up the industry, GOOD testing has cleaned it up too. Even the AUS 'super stable' caught out in 2016 and Belinda McCarthy got the 'Year' out and $5000 fine. Just keep testing!!. catch the crooks. scare them off.

  15. 4 years ago in 2017 Alford drove LennyTheShark (without cover no less) and held off the mighty SMOLDA by 1/2 head and the goat LAZARUS was third. Not many can do that !!! (beat Lazarus , lol...... ) I'm very into Stable loyalty though , hahahaha AND REWARD for those behind the scenes staff , that Do so much. I'm still getting over the Shock from John Dunn (main opponent to ALLSTARs usually) driving ASHLEY LOCAZ in the Interdominion final at Auckland DEC 2019.? rewarding the opponent ? with big race drive , sucks I reckon. The great Vinny Knight put on Scott Stewart , Brian Hancock put on Howard James (on their seconds strings) in Interdominion Finals , STABLE Loyalty that gave those 2 unknown drivers the Thrill of a lifetime. !!! they both WON. McCarthys did put MAT RUE (unknown driver) on Baby Bling to win Miracle Mile 2013, so that was Nice anyway.
  16. I would think she might of gone to see ONE CHANGE at Menangle this week in million dollar Miracle Mile , but has been WRONGLY left out of the race after placing 3rd in Group 1 last week, and appearing to qualify. But the F...ed NSWHRB put in the 'local' 4th placegetter from that race last week IGNATIUS, of 'local boy' Rattray into the Miracle mile instead. what a RIP-OFF !!!!
  17. A $million dollar race !! wow, party time in NZ. Gee it would be Faaaaaanntastic if she could do it.!! (Memphis)
  18. If that is the case, then I am being a little harsh on McCarthy with my reaction. Maybe Leonard should of 'Pitched his Case' to the owners a bit better?. e.g (does lots of trackwork with it, knows the horse inside out, etc. for either Orlando or Ex Ego owners. I would of had him on in a Heartbeat. Is actually GOOD IMO if the owners are given a choice of driver. I raced many horses over the years , even partnerships of 3 and 4 have 'disputes' over trainer , driver, where to start horse , etc and it becomes not as much fun unfortunately. (raced my last 2 as sole owner) Trainers USUALLY decide the drivers for the owners is what I found over the years.
  19. Spankem after the 2019 win in 1.47.7 could of given them a run for their money for sure. I was very annoyed reading the driving engagements, as Leonard Cain a good young QLD driver and reliable stable worker for them, and not given a chance at the big race to help define his career. In 2013 Mat RUE , the young stable (third string )driver got to drive BABY BLING and won the Miracle Mile. wow!! What's wrong with Leonard this year? mean buggers lol......................
  20. I just remembered another one as well. Victor Supreme ( wolfenden ) and Young Mister Charles ( NSW ) were BOTH disqualified for positives after running 2nd and 3rd in the 1995 Interdomonion Final to Victorian Golden Reign.
  21. Love that horse but with Moran driving (new driver for it) and Luke on the current Title Holder King of Swing at $1.40. race is all over. a poor edition of the race actually. (as far as Open Class Group 1 winners goes)
  22. Addington 1971 as in above post. Also an Aussie was disqualified at Auckland in 2011 after winning final
  23. Here it is from early on in thread Newmarket
  24. This thread is a lot worse than your 'good guys' thread yesterday in industry support. My nominations getting an honourable/ dishonourable mention. I see Dalgety got a mention here today as well , so Gammalite has gone down like the Titanic with my Good guys nominations yesterday lol........ F for failed. sad. maybe the lovely Nat still a good guy after 5 Interdominion wins.
  25. Yes , I have to retract that Chief, you are quite right and some of the cases you put on the thread from a lot of fine horsepeople would be mistakes and/or accidental administration. I know of one protracted saga involving a local Trainer Darrell Graham , who got a year from unknown source for Cobalt.
