I believe Tony Herlihy (and Suzanne Purdon) son went to Canada years ago too. Wouldn't it be great for Him, Dextor Dunn and Ross Wolfenden to return and run Professional stables in NZ!!! Just Their FANTASTIC NZ Harness NAMES alone would attract clients !! such an opportunity now to win BIG races without ALLStars in picture. They could run Syndicate horses for JOE PUBLIC and everyone could get some Fun and Glory !!.

As Mark Purdon takes a break after the big Auckland Cup win , was looking at whether he was the best I have seen driving NZ. Perhaps not. Gammalite had quite a few NZ visits and as well as Interdominion and an Auckland Cup victories often had to take on 'WOLFIE" or watch his magic on many occasions. Mark P has the distinct advantage of nearly always driving own trained horses. Wolfie did with Cardigan Bay as well. Tony Herlihy MNZM was killing the junior ranks early 80's and setting records , but I remember Wolfie jumping on horses in big races and lttle races for Trainers Big (Roy P) and small (armalight trainer) and just winning ! ALL (most who could anyway) trainers would give him the reins whenever possible, Even horses he didn't usually drive, and get a GREAT RUN for that booking.!! e.g Wonder if anyone remembers some of those SCOTCH TAR freakish wins?, ENTERPRISE romp in Auckland Cup, HILARIOUS GUEST beating quality field in Messenger. RONDEL interdominion? Wonder why his sons Glenn and Ross didn't continue after setting up? injury maybe ?

Can't understand HAPPY SUNRISE (an exceptional poster) leaving because of an ID crisis with Noodlum. JJ is naggy like an old housewife about that too. BUT why ????? no one else is declaring identity. AND Shouldn't !! MUCH MUCH better to be anonymous as saves on personal 'Attacks" , e.g on the Dog chat they got 'very Nasty once they established ID's of posters, and destroyed the Chat. Well hope you are getting a win at the races . Some good trots in NZ every December to enjoy and do the usual PURDON bashing from the experts . Man are we gunna miss that !!!! hahaha. (or maybe not) Maybe if Brodie could get a bet on them Allstars, he wouldn't be so cranky ? hehehe. lol Whats going on at the cricket with kiwis smashing WIndies and now Pakistan?. The Accountant coming out of Brodie all the time. How much in bets? How much pay ? How much training Fees? I'm betting all your Household expenses are neatly done monthly in a Ledger ? hahaha You still getting over that Forbs? Favourites do get beat you know ??? wasn't Spankem hot favourite? Perhaps Nat was 'Race Fixing' to lose the race? (Auckland Cup) Amazing Dream is pretty sharp !!! Did well getting a trail too ??? hahaha 3 back the fence this time and still won. How good is that ?? Don't worry about BEYOND WORDS . Pretty damn good horse. I wouldn't mind owning her. And she went a great race this week too. BUT RAN 2nd as you sometimes do as favourite at $1.30. You CAN"T WIN THEM ALL. lol....

Well the new Super Stable is at it again !! Star Galleria after just the one win in NZ in the last TWO YEARS of racing. (wasn't he spose to be very good?) Well he has won very easily first up for Luke McCarthy in 1.53. by over 2 lengths Sat night. Many wins to come for him. and the horse no-body knows EXPENSIVE EGO won for Luke as well. three straight in 1.51 by large margins, jogging it in. The next Superstar ??? (Gammalite prediction) EXPENSIVE EGO now 9 wins from 11 starts (3 out of 3 for Luke) and had won 2 x GROUP 1's in Brisbane running 1.53 as a 2 Year Old for another trainer . Amazing horse !! .

Think Mark and Nat will miss having 'wheels" and sub 2.00 miles though.

ONE CHANGE (part owned by ALLstars Pty Ltd) already racing and winning heaps in QLD since Spring. along with TURN IT UP , so they have some trainers to send to. (NAT's sister Vicki) Victoria has the better Stakes racing so if Nathan or Michael Purdon were to set up there (Would be the best step for them) they are sure to get good horses and good results. AND MANY BIG RACES coming up soon. Princess Tiffany won a group1 100k race New Years Eve as well !!! Anthony Butt has been down Victoria latter half of 2020. not quite the same winning results as Menangle as there a lot more horses and trainers in Victoria. very competitive.

Mate , you have to let go at some stage, I actually like a few of your posts, but one ingredient (apart from not enjoying your racing) is missing. How to win Big races. Mark and Nat do it TIME and TIME again , and you get angry when they Lose once. ?? I know you are a better judge than that? and know YOU CAN"T WIN ALL THE TIME. Chicago Bull, King of Swing and Lochinvar Art (our 3 best in OZ) all run second occasionally amongst their strings of WINS , And I"M SURE maybe the driver would do something different in HINDSIGHT. You just have to accept the HEAD defeat every now and then ?????? Even if it was Beyond Words (who I thought went very well tonight personally) but probably get Picked on hahahahaha humour mate !! 'Beyond Words' Proved YOU CAN"T WIN ALL THE TIME , even if Galah says they should. ENJOY your racing !!!! and 'Au Revoir' and HAPPY NEW YEAR Galah and NZ !!!!!

Fair comment, was just sort of wondering from a galloping point of view, how someone felt. thank-you. Could be a positive if some mid range stables can go bigger professionally (as opposed to hobby trainers) Arna Donnelly is standing up in the north with fine performances from 3 runners tonight. On that performance you would place a horse with her, fingers crossed the high standards remain once the greatest stable departs. Victoria racing continued without Vinnie Knight ok, (and WEIR at the gallops lol...)

Hey some good news for Natalie with the Team driving!!! Sister Kylie Rasmussen had 3 drives at Redcliffe this afternoon . 3 Wins ! What a great team effort. If you've got it , flaunt it , and win it. !!... All in the family lol.... hope Kylie has given Natalie 'confidence' for the Auckland Cup now.

Gidday Newmarket, Through the threads I can see Hardly any support for the ALLstars , your NZ Champions? very deflating in a way, and even get downvotes if say they do Fabulous (which is true) and aim to get as many runners into placings as possible (obviously true) I cheer for our locals e.g COLT THIRTY ONE the other day in QLD christmas Cup but it was beaten by an ALLstars horse. I admire their attention to detail and records galore. ?? and suck up the loss ok. My question is (because you have a lot of posts so know something) with the Not a Lot of love for the champions through all these threads, DO you think they appreciate the Team WALLER in the galloping field? What is your opinion? He tends to have a lot of runners in one race and no doubt a lot of 'riding instructions' bandy around from Chris. Does NZ appreciate him?

No , they don't know the results before they leave home. That is IMPOSSIBLE. things happen. Most trainers work the horses themselves, so know their horses pretty well. Same advantage for everyone you know. e.g CHICAGO BULL is widely regarded as one of the best in Aus . since Easter has had 21 starts for 16 wins and 6 seconds. the starting odds when 2nd were $1.85, $1.26, $1.45, $1.26, $2.15 , $1.38 . Things happen Mikie , you don't know the result , whatever the odds. KING Of SWING has the odd second placing , as does Lochinvar ART, the 2 very best racing currently. You can't Win ALL the time (unless you are Black Caviar) Your very best ,SELF ASSURED was second his last 2 Aussie runs, 'You don't know the result' is a certainty..... lol

Aren't they all quite wealthy already? I mean, As in No need to punt on them. Think they get the fun from the competition and winning the races rather than the Punt, IMO anyway. Whether The race plans are on paper or Not I can tell you what they are already already !!!! They are: to have as many ALLSTARS runners up in the placings as humanely possible , lol ...... and they are very very very good at getting that result too ! Fabulous. !

Yeah just having fun with it as always Karrots ! Hahaha Gammalite Never Ever ever went into a race without a plan or thought that I could win it. Team driving is very tricky indeed , (IS HARD ENOUGH driving your own one let alone worrying about what someone else is doing) Once tried to cart a stablemate into it the last lap at Gold Coast, but as we peeled for home and the horse came off my back , I realised it wasn't my Stablemate (wrong bridle hahaha ) at all as the horse inside me in the running managed to push out as I took off 3 wide, and I took him into it instead !!! hehehe. It ran 2nd , me 3rd, leader held on. Gammalite copping earful from stablemate driver for taking off to quick down the back straight hehehe lol.

The way Karrots is making all 'Selection Teams" the "driving Teams' tonight are paling into insignificance... lol. I'm All For team driving for MY TEAM only.!!!... lol. None of this helping 'someone elses team' BS .......

Geez I hope you get your treble Forbs but when I look at the Dominion H'cap (3200m) and the spar that Sundees Son and MMan had on the first night at Auckland in record time. ??? wow a big ask to knock them off. The Bolt will certainly have to be 'brilliant' to knock off those recent GROUP winners, but good luck !!
