  5. Well while waiting for the Hunter Cup R6 and Great Southern StarR8 tonight , better get some support in the support races 🏆. A team challenge to give some BOAY players a runner ( or 7) to cheer on and beat up their comrades. The field for Race 8 the final Leg not drawn up yet as the heats are races 2 and 3 . So good Luck qualifying for the Final 🤣 of the Comp. in the Great Southern Star. BLACKIE and BRODSTER rolling with the kiwi breds , to give the New Zealand market a boost. 'TAB Forever' has the champions of Aus and NZ in Luke McCarthy and Mark Purdon driving them home for him. CHIEF has THE BIGBOSS naturally and YOUcantFINDaBETTERman of course. He has a 'Chucky' now and then so better give him that one as well lol 😉. The GALAH will be flying into action with An Emma Stewart runner , and he is hoping 'Captain Hammerhead Moran' keeps his foot up tonight . 😎 GAMMA rolling with young gun James Herbertson for his drives and a odd Couple of Interdominion Champions thrown in too . 🍻 Horses drawn will be up very shortly !!!!
  6. Well the BEST 2 NZ Cup horses are in action tonight . you must be excited in Nz ? The great Day has arrived at last. ( the equal of NZ Cup day in NZ) Don't Stop Dreaming NZ ran 2nd in the NZ Cup (only just pipped by Swayzee) and 2nd in this race the Hunter Cup last year. To Leap To Fame. and Republican Party NZ fresh off fab Invercargill and AKLD Cup wins, for young Carter. Can the 7 time winning Hunter Cup driver ex-pat kiwi Anthony Butt , help them out while drawn 2 with Tact McLeod??? Ant's won it twice with 'Blossom Lady' and also with 5 Tim Butt trained runners over the years. The field is just above in this thread . 'Bulletproof Boy' is SCRATCHED. Hector ( who won his maiden in NZ) has gained a start. Are you All going to Bed early ? or going to watch Mark try and Win the Great Southern Star later tonight as well ? you have OscarB taking on Australia's best including the Interdominion trotting champion (The Locomotive) in race 2 and again in Race 8 👍😅. 'Just Believe' has now retired leaving the door ajar . you have SWAYZEE and younger brother LEAP TO FAME v NZ Republican Party and Don't Stop Dreaming in race 6. Don't miss those 2 great clashes . NZ could win both. Any comments about your chances ?
  7. Crystal - Zev and Harrison Orange with the Trifecta there in race 8 now completed at Hawera too. good value too. They're having a good day . I took wilson-zev-harrison so left that fav out , but Kourtney Kardash far too good. It looked a class runner but thought it would get caught parked out lol. Crystal too quick off the mark for them . Wonder if she can make it 4 wins for the day on a Purdon trotter next Up ? . Sure to go close.
  8. the fields are too big . Everyone Doesn't get a chance they deserve and luck plays too big a role. . 10 horses fields are BEST, and mostly everyone has a say at some stage. The smaller field at Addington in race 1 just gone was much better , and all the runners got a chance. Tell ya what though. Give HarrisonO another chance in the Feature Trot in half an hour. and with Crystal and WilsonH . take a trifecta . they're running hot. (Zev has Boss Kenny he trains in there too) race 9 = Bevron x Sans Au Revoir x High Energy . $6 to box tri
  9. went nicely and nearly got there. 3rd in the end. Young 22 yearold Zev Meredith takes the Stratford Cup driving on a Roughie though , after that appalling standing start 2 attempts. Barbarossa winning for trainer Ben Butcher (still not driving recovering from injury) Zev having a great run 👍🏆🏆 , having trained a GROUP 1 Winner last month. A fantastic effort by a young bloke to win a 100k race. One More Moment winning the Queen of Diamonds trot . he only trains 4 horses so a good strike rate lol.
  10. On that horse ? or do you mean in general ? They're not going to be of the standard of when Mark and Blair and Tim are driving , so don't feel too harsh on them. Wilson and Crystal doing very well today. Race 8 coming up has 6 young lady drivers, up against Zev , HarrisonO and Wilson in the 9 horse field. should be good. see if the lads can handle the femme fatales 😂🤣
  11. We're just been say ing how well young Wilson and Crystal are going across the forum threads . Both are really driving well and have some winners today. I keep going for the wrong one. Was looking at HERB then backed THE NEXT BEST THING.🙄 I'll get one right sooner or later. What's your Pick for the Stratford Cup up next ??
  12. They also did this barbaric outdated practice so deserve every second of their penalty. The report describes the "razzing" as occurring on race days, and involving fitting horses with head gear, blinds and earplugs — but allowing them to see and hear — and tying them to a pole near a rear wall of the wash bay. The final report states that Mr Yole had instructed his brother, Tim Yole — who has also had his racing licence disqualified for three years — to carry out the "regime".
  13. was outed last Winter. His old man Wayne Yole now is 'head' trainer, but they bought in a rule where he could only start 4 horses per race. for example He had 17 horses in last Sunday and none ran a place in Tas country meeting. They are the worst training ever seen in harness. Would rather the great sport be banned then watch that lot do it. Here's a clipping from today regarding Penalty . Guess we see him back July 2027 🙄 In short: A final decision by an independent stewards panel has found Tasmanian harness racing trainer Ben Yole guilty of "mistreating" horses and has handed down a three-year disqualification. Mr Yole was also found guilty of administering an intra-articular injection to a horse within eight days of a race meet, and was fined $5,000. What's next? The three-year disqualification has been backdated to July 29, 2024.
  14. False 'leading trainer' mate. Only ever had the most wins one or 2 years years from lining up 50-60 horses per meeting sometimes, and winning the races where he trained the entire field , less one or 2 sometimes. Never won Group races (barely contested them) and never won Metro or Feature races. No Tas Derby colts there lol. 'Australia's worst trainer banned 3 years' should be your heading 😎. some of his mates greyhounds must be getting hungry now too.
  15. Tassie had another great named HALWES . also a Miracle Mile winner. and scratched from the Auckland Interdominion when 'paid-off by NSW Bookies after blitzing the heats. cheating buggers. had a family tie to that one too lol 😅. For the Hunter Cup this weekend , well is hard to go past the BASH Brothers. can't go picking kiwi's at the 11th hour lol. 😉. Oz draw has Given the 3 kiwi's Carter, Marky and Ant's the front row too . Will they work togeather ? (hope they do 😂👍) here's a nice article on the 'Bash Brothers' family by Adam Hamilton today on HRA. Photo by Dan Costello THE amazing family that is Leap To Fame and Swayzee continues to grow and get more exciting. Much has been said and written about the fact the two best pacers in this part of the world are half-brothers and have amassed 73 wins – 15 at Group 1 level - and over $5.1 million in prize money between them. They pair is to add to that when they clash for the fifth time – Leap To Fame holds a 3-1 lead – in Saturday night’s Group 1 Hunter Cup at Melton. They are both out of the Art Major mare Lettucereason, Leap To Fame by Bettors Delight and Swayzee by Rock N Roll Heaven. Amazingly, they are two of only three foals Lettucereason has had to the races. The other, Maximus Red, was no slouch with 47 wins and almost $500,000 in earnings. Another of her foals, Reason For Fame, didn’t race but obviously has huge value as a broodmare. She is another half-sister, being by Sweet Lou. Reason For Fame had her first foal, a colt by Bettors Delight on October 1, last year. In other exciting family news, Lettucereason herself had another foal on September 22. It’s a filly by Bettors Delight, making it a full sister to Leap To Fame. Both foals are owned by Justin Kahlefeldt, who also bred Leap To Fame and Swayzee. Lettucereason was a talented performer herself on the track with 51 starts for 17 wins, 17 placings and $180,073. She ran third in the Group 1 Bathurst Gold final and second in the Group 1 NSW Breeders Challenge final as a two-year-old in 2011.
  16. yes I didn't realize it was such a problem until this DQ incident. there's lots of examples around all the time 🤔. 3 Sept 2024 — General: Driver N Ford was questioned regarding his right dropping from its foot-rest midway ... Sulky struck leaving the 300. Tightened 4 Nov 2024 — Mr Trotter was also issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for driving with his foot removed from the sulky footrest for a distance roundin 3 Jan 2025 — Horse Sales ... Driver Sebastian Piltz was issued a reprimand under AHR Rule 170(1)(a) for allowing his right foot to slip from the sulky footrest 10 Mar 2024 — Stipendiary Stewards Report ... Mr Orange was warned for using his whip with his foot removed from the sulky footrest on one occasion in the run ... 23 Dec 2024 — ENABLE ME NZ – Driver C Geary momentarily dropped his right foot from the sulky footrest in the home straight on the final occasion. T RNESS RACING STEWARDS REPORT ... Driver D. Ford momentarily dropped his foot from the footrest before immediately replacing it, no action was
  17. Made a bit of an error with that as they all being terrific winning horses, So have all won the Interdominion , but have all shown Speed to win the Miracle Mile during their careers as well. very versatile to win both. so B/ is answered. Pretty sure that none of them contested the NZ Cup though, but good to see the Aussie horses back having a crack at it in recent years though,
  18. Attention to detail is your friend for that one 😎 . didn't want to make it too hard.
  19. Michael Moroney has had Ballymore Stables at Flemington for more than 20 years , but I see he pop's up in NZ where he started out quite often too. He must be dual country licensed ? or have they taken his original NZ one off him now? bit tough if they did. ? Waller has a QLD based Stable , and doesn't see the horses there much at all , and probably trains via Video link I imagine. I guess it's nice that Pam Gerard doing well , and Savaglee getting heaps including the Kiwi coming up 😉, but I feel sorry for Michael , as he probably commuted fairly often , could do Video link training like Waller, and probably has bucketloads of faithful owners he trained for over the years that he liked preparing horses for in NZ.
  20. Today's Quiz greats Photo's are 4 More Magnificent beasts , that all won the Greatest of all the Big races , between them . some multiple times. Clue is one is a Tasmanian 😅 and 2 were bred in NZ 😉. Blackie and TAB have been going great guns spotting up the champions through this thread, but anyone is welcome to join in . (Ranga must be on holiday as he used to be good at these but no sign of the young fella 😅) A/ Who are our 4 horses ? B/ what race do they share the Victory spoils in ?
  21. Was quite interesting. I understand some are only interested in the betting, but the Breeding and Training are All part of it too and good on you for pointing out some experiences. The attention to detail always makes a better product 👍. Agree totally that the breeding is a huge factor , as is the training experience in getting a horse in right frame of mind to race well. Each decade see's them get faster and fast , and better and better. Here are 4 Multiple Interdominion Winners , that were the best of their decades. Winning miles easily and excelling at distance racing as well . just true Great horses. and showing the stride length and increase in speed there- fore. Top is Village Kid . The best of the 80's , and Our Sir Vancelot . The best of the 90's . 3 Interdom wins . usually running between 1.55 to 2.00 mile rates for their races. This century they accelerated further . from 2010 when horses like BEAUTIDE there (red silks) , with a Magnificent long stride . Beat Christen Me in the Miracle Mile ( Christen Me the NZ champ beat him the following year though to square the ledger) and won 2 Interdominions. Look at that sectional behind him in photo . A 26.5 quarter Mid-race. That would wipe the floor with Anything from last century. these horses running 1.50 to 1.55 all the time . Hoofs certainly higher and getting near footrests now lol 😅. Lennythe Shark there, a supreme horse, won heaps, but had to take a number of NZ Allstars on a lot of the time. and think he was beat a nose in the Miracle Mile by Natalie in 1.47 😳. Low flying . And for the past decade the Super good BETTOR's DELIGHTS the like of Lazarus, and Leap To Fame, and Tiger Tara are the absolute supreme Beasts . Winning every Big race going and thundering to victory with a magnificent Gait and stride . I think that's why they removed the old footrests ? and just a wee bar there now on the sulky for the drivers boot. > These bad Boys would be smashing the thing to Pieces 🤣😂😎 . High Flying . (don't have photo's of them yet , but they are the Best ever)
  22. Gets his chance on Saturday for redemption in the Pure Steel FFA on Saturday. Captain Hammerhead didn't make the Hunter Cup field after the DQ, (wouldn't of placed in that anyway) , so Goes around the race before. Might be 4-1 in race 5 and very hard to beat, and worth a few bucks. kicked well to win at Shepperton ? 🤣😉 before getting DQed. 😎
  23. Yes I just put the field on the 'We're Low on Cup horses ' thread just now and saw that ? It was appalling. I think Victoria is in Financial strife in harness racing and has slashed the prizemoney . The Dullard Cup for trotters used to be a biggy and was only 30k last week 🙄. winner Keayang Chucky a danger for Oscar B this-coming weekend in the Great Southern Star. He only got $17k first prize in a group Cup race last Sat 😫. Tristan Larsen would of got a few Weeks off for Christmas mate. so glad he went home to see family. Tristan ran last in the Wedderburn Trotters Cup last Sunday, but won another trot straight after with JOHN's BOY from Southland. You might know of it ? 2 out of 2 in Oz now, for Tristan and Trainer Brent and still owned by his kiwi owners it seems . Hope they go on and get plenty more !! 🏆👍 (it's NZ form very average last year but imagine it had to take on Bucketloads of Williamson's in trots All the time ? 🤣 )
  24. THE DRAW is OUT . and the 3 Kiwi's are across the front line !! along with Luke McCarthy with the Interdominion winner. The Bash Brothers of 'Larry' and 'Swayzee' 2nd row . Republican Party a WIN chance now cobber , from the 1 alley. Go for Glory Carter. His moment to shine !!! although the Prizemoney is a bit pitiful for Cup Class ? should be double that you would think 🙄. sign of the times. m SPORTSBET A G HUNTER CUP (GROUP 1) 2760M $250,000 No NR. 25. Incredible to think Barry won a Hunter Cup with something I've never heard of 🤣 . Must be slipping 🙄 . well done TAB. He did win it the following year too , which might not SURPRISE you. was a real PACKAGE of winners in the 90's for the kiwi's with Blossom Lady winning the 2 prior ones as well for Derek Jones. You're on the money and TAB nailed the Marky Boy 4th on Ginger Man. a great NZ First 4. 5th home was one of my all-time favourites in Sinbad Bay. Vin Knight took him on as a moderate Tasmanian performer, and Won all sorts. Might of been the champion of Australia but kept getting Tendon injuries .
