  1. So it appears that the plan is to put a new greyhound track in the middle of Oamaru racecourse, to replace Forbury. It makes sense, plenty of room both inside the tracks, and around the outside for facilities . But as usual, some part time hobby harness trainers are grumbling. They can't cope with change. Hopefully, everyone plays nicely, gets along and cooperates. After all, any business is good for an under utilised course like Oamaru.
  2. I heard they had a cunning plan to improve the smorgasbord at board meetings. I'm sure that helped.
  3. After a while it becomes tiring to hear people saying that racing is stuffed, and"something" needs to be done. I want to hear ideas , suggestions for positive change, both locally and nationally.
  4. Agreed. And look at the perfectly good winter tracks like Waimate and Oamaru being closed down or largely ignored.
  5. Thank you for educating me. I always thought Mecca was in Saudi Arabia, not out at Rolleston. My mistake.
  6. Fine win by Chuckles in the Bluff Cup. Good work by the trainer and owner. Hope you all got some. Ludwig is going to celebrate by composing a wee sonata.
  7. Turns 251 this year, but I don't look a day over 26...give or take.
  8. For some reason, winning this trophy would bring great satisfaction. Ludwig would find a prime spot on the trophy cabinet, right in the middle of the awards for CD sales.
  9. Good winnings on race 4 tonight. I'd rather he play Beethoven's moonlight sonata.
  10. Thanks for starting a thread not about the jewels. There are some good odds on offer, much more fun than sitting there picking hot favourites backed by team driving.
  11. Agree. And why drag poor old Naomi into this thread? . Her circumstances are completely different from Mr Myers.
  12. I was thinking of Sheldon Murthas ill fated "Penelope Pitstop".
  13. What was the name of the last high profile, successful horse that Mr House trained?
  14. If you don't want to see someone's posts, then use the mute button. That's what it's for. It's very simple. Thanks Chief.
  15. Rereading the article in the ODT, I think the major stumbling block to progress maybe HRNZ, who are remaining silent on what happens to the funds from the future sale of Forbury. That concerns me greatly as I would have thought the locals would have it set in concrete that all sale proceeds remain local and are invested accordingly. Because we all trust HRNZ to do the right thing for the region's.!!!!
  16. I think it's great to see all sorts of trainers and owners winning at long odds. Let's hope they got some. It's good honest grassroots racing, and not this so called glamour stuff where certain stables dominate.
  17. There's clearly something going on in the South. Not only the Forbury committee at odds, but the mayor of Invercargill and his deputy are not talking again!!!! And as for the new hospital... already behind schedule, over budget, and they can't agree on bed numbers or the services to be provided. Let's hope we can still remember how to organise a booze up in the Speights brewery.
  18. Lead article in today's ODT, the attempt on Tuesday night to unseat the chair and two committee members from the Forbury Park. Nothing like a good internal bun fight to distract from the real issues of a new Forbury racing centre. I see the idea of a new joint synthetic track at Wingatui has entered discussions. Clearly there is disunity in the ranks.
  19. Sadly, Mr Brodie, is not my new bestie. Rather it's the one who bites. I love them.
  20. I was thinking the same but thought I had better not say anything....I was worried that my new bestie might have another meltdown.
  21. Thanks for addressing the issue. If the Jewels are so great, then why the decreasing stakes?
  22. Extremely well said
  23. I always wished that my mother in law would stop talking to me...alas, no. But on this site there is the blessing of the mute button.
  24. I don't even know who Ludwig is😀. Even the nurses who put me in isolation don't know who Ludwig is. The meds are meant to help, but I see spots.
  25. I think it is great to hear differing points of view. However, I have noticed that there are several sensitive tulips on here who have over the top reactions to anyone challenging their viewpoint....and it's silly, so they are muted.
