  1. The stipes report on the race makes for semi interesting reading. They obviously didn't see much to get worried about.

Very impressed to see that Phil's young trotter has the junior driver on for its first start, even though several of his sons are present. It's good that they get given the opportunity. Good luck to him.

I agree re tab formline comments. Often they are meaningless drivel. And John Dunn's got the perfect draw in the Hannon., especially with the horse's standing start manners .
  4. It reminds me of the nagging mother in law.
  5. The things you have to go through when you're courting
  6. You bet. I have enough trouble with my glasses steaming up thanks to Cindy's masks....but that image had the sweat dripping off me.
  7. That thought has put me off my lamb chops for dinner.
  8. Confusing?? Me thinks you're being polite.

I understand that Phil's numbers may be less from now on. Apologies if I've been misinformed, but with all three of his boys now training full time, he's going to wind down a bit. A good mentor for them all

I agree about Vintage Cheddar. It would be a good win for Bradley as driver . I am very curious as to how Phil Ws three year old trotters are likely to go . I'll have to pump my sources for info.

Sadly, it's been a while since the winner of the Cup came via the Hannon. The big guns are leaving their return later each year.
  12. Really pleased for the club that they have strong nominations for the programme. They're a hard working bunch, and for a small town, they put together a good meeting . The entry of some strong southern horses certainly adds interest to the Hannan itself.
  13. Brilliant. And we must get them addicted to fashion in the fields....more of those, every meeting
  14. Riding well today.
  15. Just a sideline observation, but looking at the ranks of southern riders, it appears there is more depth and strength in the ranks than a couple of years ago. Some of the apprentice riders are now in the senior ranks, and overall I don't shake my head as much at the riding standards. But just my observation, maybe I am mellowing in old age
  16. 169 nominations for Methven on Sunday. The grass track racing is enormously popular...horse numbers, public support etc. Yet why has the north buried it's grass track circuit, and instead relies on the Cambridge/Alex park tracks with low horse numbers, low public support.? Time to provide that which works .
  17. Indeed. I would like to see the NZ cup run at Reefton.
  18. What happens if Ashburton becomes unavailable? Off to Timaru, but they're going to close it. There's always Motukarara, Rangiora, Waimate, Geraldine....sorry all closed. So the CJC might end up racing in Oamaru.
  19. Hard to see the Ashburton meeting on Monday turning over big bucks. They certainly got the short straw.
  20. Hmmm. . I got added to a list called "definitive maggots.com" for daring to suggest that Cindy's halo was slipping.
  21. Excellent. I do not understand posters who haven't figured out how to use the mute button. It saves a lot of aggro and prevents high blood pressure.
  22. Just curious as to others thoughts on the quality of the field for this week's featured race. It appears that the big guns are leaving their return until later each year, and the field doesn't really have an excitement feel.
  23. The advantage of one mile racing is that the action is short....and that means you don't miss too much of the action, the tactics, the psychological challenges of the women's beach volleyball😀
  24. Don't you just love the correct use of English grammar and spelling!!
  25. Good to see Darryn getting a win from his new base at Oamaru raceway. It's been a tough 18 months for him with Covid and the closure of Forbury. So let's hope he's able to build on tonight's success. Oamaru still welcomes more trainers.
