  1. Danke. I wonder what Ludwig thinks of Kristofferson's music?
  2. Well, MVB needs something else to obsess about, apart from his obsession with David Bain. Forgive the pun, but that was gross overkill.
  3. I am biased and will say it again. They live not far from me but I vote the Williamsons.
  4. Excellent result for all concerned. And well done for ignoring the "advice" of those on this site who told you to stop racing the horse.
  5. Congrats again to Bradley, Phil and the team. Another big win with Majestic Man last night.
  6. North Otago has a star player???!!! Wow, which of the nursing homes did they raid to find him?
  7. As usual, the races come to town, the weather packs up. And now, thanks to some clots in Auckland who couldn't follow Covid rules, Oamaru gets restrictions on who can attend it's race meeting. Thanks Cindy.
  8. And she's pouring truckloads in to the new Dunedin hospital ....and already it's behind schedule and over budget.
  9. And don't forget, Dunedin has the "inspirational" David Clark as it's MP....so it's used to having silly old farts in charge.
  10. I am curious to know what the relocation alternatives are for Forbury Park, apart from heading to Wingatui. Dunedin isn't blessed with a lot of available, accessible flat spaces so I am curious if there's a surprise Plan B. From a personal point of view, I would relocate to Oamaru, put the lights in, and upgrade my corporate box. But then I might be biased.
  11. Sell Alex Park, bulldoze it, and build Cindy's "Be kind to each other" housing complex.
  12. He has "issues".
  13. Perhaps the answer to the question of what is Auckland doing wrong lies with "what are clubs like Waikouaiti doing so right". Big fields, lots of community involvement, lots of locals involved in horse ownership. It's a grassroots industry and maybe the corporate Auckland image doesn't fit this industry.
  14. Good post, though I suspect in vain. Mr Whippy appears to have "issues" and is simply looking to be disagreeable. So good try trying to reason with it, but just like Trump, it revels in attention.
  15. Bless you, sweetie.😀
  16. I think some posters on here need to calm down, take a deep breath and have some chocolate cake. And just ease up on the foul language while we remember this is supposedly a racing forum.
  17. Excellent points. The same is true of sports in general . Most people will realise they are never going to be champions, but that doesn't stop them trying, training, paying fees, buying equipment etc. There's a thrill about being involved, competing, and dreaming...even as in my case the outcome was worse than Spitfires. So good luck to his owners and supporters. If it makes them happy, then all credit to them.
  18. Agree. For some/many people still, it's the excitement of owning and following your own horse. It doesn't always have to be about money
  19. Excellent point. One Oamaru club member said to me that if any of the boys hit the headlines for any of the wrong reasons, they would be "strung up by their privates from the clothes line". Not literally of course, but they have been taught standards
  20. I have always admired how Phil has always backed his boys by keeping them on for all the big races. Great confidence builder.
  21. Otago anniversary Day in a few weeks usually has a dual code meeting at Wingatui. Could none of the clubs in the Auckland region do something similar?
  22. Do we know how many Riccarton trainers are lining up enthusiastically for the AWT?
  23. It says something about the quality of the people living in Oamaru.
  24. If the likes of Messers Anderson, McGrath, Orange, Kerr and co sorted themselves out, Mr Van Beynen would have to find other stories. Harness racing needs to stop giving him so much ammunition.
  25. No one is forcing you to read his articles.
