  1. Grand achievement yesterday. Very apt that the horse involved was bred and owned by Bev and driven by Brad. Amazing that this can all be done from Oamaru.
  2. And obviously, I hope the victim in this case in being supported and cared for.
  3. My immediate response is to feel some sympathy for those drivers/ trainers etc who are not involved in any way, but who get tarred with the same brush. Must be hard for them and their families.
  4. That looks like some of the fine fine looking ladies I saw, last time I was in Palmy.
  5. Amateur hour production values. Shocking.

So is there anyone on this dates programming committee who is looking out for the interests of West Coast, Otago, Southland etc? Or are they all focused on their own particular area of interest?

This was way before my time, but was there the same level of resistance/hostility towards All Weather tracks in harness racing when they were introduced?
  8. I know several 0900 numbers, but She who must be obeyed has warned me off using them.😀
  9. I've just read the stewards report from today's meeting. No mention, obviously, of the starts, but race 7, the stewards were concerned about the position of Sam Thornleys right foot.!!!! Big issue!!!?
  10. I am confused. I thought a standing start meant just that___a standing start. But in so many of these races, some are standing, some are walking, some are rolling, some seem to be close to racing. So which is it? What do the rules say? And why does it appear that anything goes?
  11. If that's the case, someone is seeking to stir up trouble with nasty accusations. Very unpleasant.
  12. I really wish we could let due process of the law take its course. Instead we have a poster elsewhere suggesting that he's received another report which he can't produce which implies other misdemeanors. I think we should all take a deep breath and wait.
  13. I really think this is a bit of a dead issue. The managers of the various networks have only one interest, and that is maximizing profit to their shareholders. If there was a buck to be made in radio racing coverage, they would be full on . But there's not the money nor the interest, so they don't. I really think this is a bit of a dead issue.
  14. How has Reefton fared in the calendar for next season?
  15. And just one horse coming from South of Ashburton.
  16. With the Taplins leaving, and the Tyler's and Robert Dennis downsizing, that leaves a big hole in Southland. Any new players emerging??
  17. A very good day of racing. I hop that Kirk Larsen is ok after being tossed from his horse at the start . I notice that those who were declaring on this site that Brad W. Is the worst driver ever, have gone very quiet. Three more driving wins today, goes with a very successful fortnight.
  18. I used to have that COVID app on my phone, which I used sparingly. Until one day I received a message which told me that I had not left the house that week, and what had I been doing. The app was quickly deleted. I thought this was a free country.
  19. A big congrats to the Invercargill team for putting on such good stake money, and attracting quality fields. I confess to avoiding Trackside as much as possible, but have they gone into cartwheels of glee for Diamonds Day like they have for "The Race" or for some of these rather pitiful feature Auckland meetings?
  20. Why should he "give it up"? Freedom of expression.
  21. First, the unused/unwanted jumps fences at Phar Lap and other South Island courses. What's going to happen to them? Second, the standard of some of the apprentice riding in the South is pretty dire. Is there anyone currently monitoring and/or mentoring them?
  22. There's nothing like an intelligent, constructive discussion on harness racing.
  23. So the Race has been and gone for its first running But what now? There are those who want to extend the concept. Include trotters, get other clubs running them, plus heaps of other suggestions. It's good that a new idea was tried and gained some attention. But I still don't get how this concept benefits the heartland, the grassroots , the battlers who keep the industry going. Perhaps the slot races have merit. But who for? The general rank and file involved in the industry?
