  1. Thanks for allowing this site to run with a pretty free hand, and allow open discussion and debate. Long may you avoid the pitfalls of other sites where owners are over sensitive little petals who can't handle alternative positions.
  2. That goose and his co owners have got their heads seriously buried in the sand, and becoming offensive to any who dare question their judgement
  3. Second attempt. Things I miss. 1)harness horses with numbers on top of their heads. It used to look cool. 2) those boxes of slippery tissue that passed for toilet paper in public loos 3)being able to ask for non pc fly cemeteries in bakeries 4)and the fourth one has slipped my mind. Maybe that's what I miss.
  4. Yesterday, amberley had their meeting down the road at Rangiora. Now that seems logical. But every year, Cheviot go all the way in to Addington for theirs. I'm certain there's some logic behind it but I can't see it??
  5. Balmuse winning the 2004 Kelt at Hastings.

  7. Among all the cancelled meetings of the weekend, a special congrats to Jacob Lowry for an excellent ride, and a result that obviously meant so much to him Go the next generation of the Anderton clan.

  8. I don't think we should grizzle too much about the Wyndham fields. It's the second Southland meeting in four days, and the better grade of horses can't run every week. This is Southland racing, a mixture of hobby trainers and more established trainers, and a real mix of horses . I am more than happy that the meeting is going ahead. It's a good heartland meeting
  9. So Auckland needs to be given preferential treatment? Ludicrous idea. Let them harden up, roll their sleeves up and stop being a pack of whining pansies.
  10. So Auckland is in trouble. Large debts, falling horse numbers, president and CEO going by the side door, and now about to lose the bulk of their Friday nights. I just hope that they are treated in the same kind fair way that clubs like Forbury were treated .
  11. Bizarre that some of the rabble rousers left this site in a huff, but are now happy to move elsewhere, bad mouth this site and cast around aspersions.!! Think they need some mallow puffs
  12. Imagine if the allegations were made the other way around, with their trainer as the target. How easy is it to throw mud around?!

    The irony

Sorry, I'm on my cell phone and it's hopeless at posting articles As for Invercargill, dreadful numbers.

    The irony

There is an article about it today, by Guerin, on the Hrnz website. It makes me wonder when was the last time Guerin did an article involving objective, critical analyais__rather than playing the role of cheerleader?

    The irony

On the same day that nominations are open for the Race, the Cambridge club cancels it's feature guineas race, due to insufficient entries. I'm going to keep on asking. How does The Race produce growth in horse numbers at the grassroots?
  16. Yes, one hostel always had a problem with Sunday evening meals being launched. So the whole menu had to be changed, to avoid possible items that could be launched. I always felt quite sorry for the serving staff who would often have food lobbed back over the severy partition. .some of the pastry/ cake items could make a decent mark when on target.
  17. Time for a new hobby perhaps?
  18. Yes, potatoes, baked, boiled, mashed, were an excellent missile in the right hands. And I discovered on St Patrick's Day 1976, that a rice pudding could make an excellent substitute.
  19. Thanks. I still can't get used to this new calendar.
  20. In the uni hostel I used to run, if we ever served the students something bad like that, the staff would expect it to be returned immediately via air mail.
  21. Thanks. I do agree. Of course, quality fields, on safe tracks is paramount. But for Joe Public, so is somewhere dry to sit without being attacked by rogue nails, the availability of clean toilets, and adequate refreshments, reasonably priced. It's all part of the package, and if we're serious about reviving racing, then we should take seriously the entire package being offered.
  22. The men's tennis is riveting. It's a new era with some brilliant new stars. Carlos Alcaraz is just a champ in waiting.
  23. I have never forgiven Awapuni, this is going back ten plus years. They pulled down the public stand, replaced it with a monstrosity, and served up the most ghastly overpriced crap, while I bet all the toffs dined on the finest. The people who ran that course got so offside with their traditional roots.
  24. Any racecourses, in your experience, which deserve a mention, in the unappealing, overpriced food awards?
  25. With the recent rejigging of the calendar, with the Auckland cup moved again, with the new "The Race", what feature events are on the programme at Addington over autumn? Or is this the time of year where everything gets thrown at Auckland/Cambridge to try and rescue it?
