  1. Special Agent, I've been following horse racing for 45 years, probably more, so it's just the same old stuff week after week, year after year, the new betting setup probably won't change things, maybe if they have a online casino, that may drag some in but those people probably ain't interested in horse racing anyhow, I just find trackside is fine as long as you don't over do it. Lots of days I don't even turn it on or the tv either, it's kind of the same with all the online stuff, everything gets a bit tedious, watching rugby is another past time I hardly bother with. As I stated before I still are interested but I have me few dollars, when it's gone I'm done, I've played the online casinos, watched and bet on horse racing heaps over the years, and the sport and I play lotto too, lotto, I have same numbers draw after draw, buy a few Xtra tickets if the pool gets big but I know my limits, haven't always been like that, be fair to say I overdid the money and time spent but thats life, lots to tempt us I guess. Getting back to trackside, as I say I can't watch all day, Saturday arvos are fine for a while but a lot of the midweek days ain't really much interest nowadays and judging by the pools for non commingled exotics from aussie racing there ain't as much interest in NZ as some believe it to be.
  2. The thing Shad and anybody else here is there is just so much betting options its not always easy to stay focused, if you bet solely on racing then you stay fresh and focused on racing. For me now it's just the next race or the present sporting event, I no longer have the desire to study form as in exotics, I use to but not now, racing a casual interest, betting is too, too much of anything can fry ya brain, same as computers or smartphones can be. I once had a high tolerance for racing, trackside radio everyday, habits change, I find a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon watching TV does me, even if radio was everyday I wouldn't now listen all day. Still interested as much as ever in racing news, and affairs but betting is just casual. have a burst then I'm done for a while, maybe if results were different well that might be a different story. It ain't easy.
  3. Once again my few gains I make eventually get superseeded by the losses, apart from the odd days on the gee gees I also like live football, but it beats me everytime, which is why I only play now and then, gambling a tough business, they say when the fun stops its time to stop, I'm only occasional, happy being so.
  4. Agent, it may well be that we in NZ may see very little chang, who knows, I'm opposed to the sweetener if they geo block but in reality if everyone keeps their job at the TAB then really not a lot can change. People will probably still bet the same amounts. This deal should only be for five years, it's worth a try, 25 years gives Entain plenty of time to claw back their initial outlay, that's just plain silly.
  5. Newmarket, Evans has copied Davy Macs hair style, as I said before I think the tv coverage is a little bit rushed.
  6. Shad are you stating you lost money because of the track? I lose no matter what state the tracks in but as it stands I've won the princely sum of seven dollars today which while not a lot is actually pretty good for me.🤫
  7. I think the young lady interviewing does ok but just straight after the race, everyone is hyped up, need time to calm down and perhaps be a bit more reflective but it is what is, bet 95% of those turning up tonight at Cambridge will be noticeable by their absence next week or whenever.
  8. Copy That just to good but that draw at Cambridge especially is so crucial, B D Joe seems to get bad draws but in reality there were only 4 or 5 realistic chances. I watched but if I was listening I would have got the idea Self Assured was looking likely in the last bit but was never looking likely. I find the tv coverage all a bit rushed, that Jason Teaz type show would be ideal on a night like this, why not run it on free to air channel, let the trackside crew do their job for the whole night, just let trackside join in when it suits. Just my thoughts. Back to the race the only thing that would have beaten Copy That was bad luck as in a bad draw.
  9. I hear that one of the local pubs around here have pulled the self serve machines and I don't think they screen the races either, changing times, we all have the info on our mobiles, everyone's different in how they bet or get info or bet but it's probably no longer worth the hassle 4 many pubs to be bothered with.
  10. Probably just making the rich get richer but it's still positive I guess.
  11. I have serious doubts about all of it but at least they will sort out problem gambling by offering a whole lot more services.
  12. He didn't ask what happens after the sweetners if they shut out the opposition, will there be any after that or will it be business as normal.
  13. Is that to be in top four ?
  14. I know we have moved on from vcr but judging by the number of cassettes here they have done a fair bit of work, they were simply of their time, we moved to disc then to the hard drive but as long as each system works we keep using them, I chucked a few tapes out that had mould but played through a heap more to see if they play, some are fine, playing crappy tapes is the best way to stuff ya player or foul up the heads, I got some sports vids that I won't watch probably but someone may want them it's amazing how much stuff we gather over the years, as I get older I wonder why.
  15. 9 and a half thousand in the main quaddie suggest modest interest in this meeting betting wise.
  16. Still plenty of good horses in NZ, only normal they cross the tasman for the bigger races.
  17. Odd as it is. Saturday harness meets in NZ get lost in the crowd of feature gallops meeting.
  18. Maybe a alternative handicap🤣
  19. Note, no aussie betting, no aussie online betting sites, no lotto, no super rugby, no anything really so racing was almost the only game in town, times change.
  20. Shad, have you tried the vcr,or to see if the tape still works ? Biggest problems are tapes don't always age well and of course vcrs don't either, they probably can't repair them, I got 2, played them recently, still work fine but if you play dodgy tape keeps fouling up the heads. There was a clip of it on you tube, the smash in the derby
  21. Back the field, guaranteed to win every race.
  22. A day meet for Addington, will be interesting to see how it competes with the normal Saturday racing.
  23. Brodie don't worry if you can't bet anymore, it's a silly habit anyway As for harness racing nought much will change, once the infrastructure is fucked its fucked as in numbers declining Note one again, smallish fields at Winton despite no racing last week
