  1. No Riverton Cup this week, no numbers, Horarata Cup, only 13500 stake, no races for top class pacers other than all in FFA races which usually are canned if Purdon turns up, all the money is now by racing in Oz for 2 or 3 months, this industry sadly is fucked in NZ.
  2. Guy Williams, never listened ,watched him, heard about him though, but like most so called kiwi humor it's like week tea, once again one or two of the old timers were ok, maybe it's just me, naybe it's just the old been there seen it heard it all before but Jimmy Carr, Some of the stuff he comes out with is rather sad, saddest part is people flock to hear it, takes all sorts I guess.
  3. Did I hear correctly that Hawera may have four days next year, Trots Talk on senz.
  4. Does anybody know if the crowds have turned up for Hawera. Westport Nelson , Blenheim do but different kettle of fish across the straight.
  5. I like humour but looking through you tube the last few days and some of the present day stuff, the likes of Jimmy Carr who i have seen fronting the odd tv show but some of the clips of his stand up one liner jokes, [SHIT] very ordinary yet there are a few others just the same, maybe its just me getting older but it dont excite me, swearing is fine in its right place but kevs songwriting, and the old day comedians of the past had plenty of initiative, its a changing world but not sure if its changing for the better.
  6. Did Hawera get the rain? Will be very interesting scenario if so.

    Sad

Last week I had trackside on, I don't watch that often, I think it was a screenshot of the Gore course, hardly a soul there, looked like the sort of crowd that probably you would see at the trotting trials which strangely they don't have anymore. And that was the big day of the year, one thing I did notice is the track was a soft 5 or 6 and they are having a very dry spell.

    Sad

That would be on the tote only perhaps or is fixed odds as well, im no expert but taking out 8 percent on fixed would seem a big chunk out of the margins. If you bet on the phone on course is that a on course bet or not, can the TAB trace the location where the bet was taken ? There must be many days when clubs dont cover their staffing cost with piddly sized turnover, race on a holiday you get more people but wages go up, must be some very fine margins clubs are running, throw in the normal factors like weather or poor fields, just one big gamble.
  9. Speaking of silly little games the only unvaccinated tennis player is starting to come into his own despite having a dodgy hammy, last night he went up several gears, some aussie upstart who is a good player was sent packing, no one is even worried about him from last year being sent home, probably the only thing that will beat him will be that hammy, are their limits on maximum bets on head to heads, im not up with such things.
  10. The legacy of getting older, lots of things lose their shine, same for me.
  11. Toast and pies are my speciality, spose i could always have spaghetti to add some Italian to the mix or some curry for Indian. If Jacinda calling time dont reignite this forum, nothing will. Anyone following the Aussie Open, best sporting event of the year in my opinion.
  12. Hey Galah, no one's suggesting more provincial meetings. Just look after the ones you have, more and more racing in Canterbury is likely with cost rising means less will travel, We saw that with Westport, Nelson and Marlborough seem to be fine for now, some of it can be programming, why Westport Cup is R55 then 4 days later cup at Motukarara is the same seems a bit illogical, just my thoughts. As for your comment about Addington and no longer going aint you answering your own question about exciting,(not) going there is. I'm sure those days on the Coast and the top of the South are keenly attended, don't diminish the product to drive people away, 8 races and finishing just after 4 seems to me to be shortchanging the public as it was on Boxjng Day.
  13. And as Addington race often you agree about many average ho hum race meetings I often quote as there being, maybe it's just me, maybe not.
  14. I think after that race bookies wouldn't be too poor, how did it attract such attention? Might have been a big con job to create false market. Don't think it's in tomorrow either.
  15. Some of those fields at Nelson are smallish. Do they justify 12 races ? Anyway, whatever, the once a year clubs always attract good crowds, no matter what thr horses on display.
  16. Nelson trots tomorrow have 12 races with mostly small fields, lots of strange anomalies, how come they get 12 Westport only had 8., there is no consistency.
  17. Nelson and Blenheim should have clear windows to get the best possible fields, they probably should still have the winter circuit too but that seems history. We just saw the impact too much racing in Canterbury had on Westport, give the regions a break and maybe Canterbury has a break now and then too, we are being saturated with a lot of average meetings but reducing traditional meetings seems a bit backward to me. Just my thoughts and its 5 am.
  18. Might they race Monday or Tuesday?
  19. Might they race Monday or Tuesday?
  20. Spose i should add i can survive Spose i should add i can and others can survive without betting, racings problems are simple, betting simply aint keeping pace with cost, same as many industrys, so look after your customer, not deter them.
  21. Roxburgh, its a arse of a name to spell. As for betting, i havnt had a bet since before xmas, im still alive, you can survive without it, only watched the odd race on tv as well, the product that harness is producing is poor and repetitive, a lot of the gallops too, others may disagree, but as this is a industry that survives through punters they need to look after the dwindling numbers they still have, no radio either so i just tune out, literally. Talking about radio, im on zb, why the fuck do everybody ring radio or text them after a earthquake, do they think they are the only ones who experienced it.
  22. 4 in the morning, not sleeping ?
  23. Riverton is a stand alone meeting, no Canterbury horses Kurow too, no Southern horses then comes the Coast and two weeks, Wingatui, like it or not the Jan 1 meeting if it still was Waikouiti,{check spelling} would have been the one to be short on numbers.
  24. Think ya self lucky you didn't want a million.be a very long drawn out process.😎
  25. Addington today and 196 noms for the mot next Thursday.
