  1. Gamma just at present they could run ond day a week, they manage to survive at the other end of the country on 1 a week/ 10 day gap.
  2. I have said 1 meeting a week will suffice but as Gamma says lots of happy owners, just about everyone gets a stake, enjoy it while it's there I guess. Reality is HRNZ need a revamp of their though process.
  3. Wellington and Auckland more than any town/city seem to be slipping in terms of Rugbys place in the wider community, Auckland last year in NPC finished 11th of 14, have they ever finished further down the pecking order. Horse racings no different in Auckland, the numbers they get af Ellerslie tell the story. Wellington won last year, that's a rarity as well but looking at the team this year I would hate o be the radio commentator, hardly a pakeha name amongst them, there lies the issue, pakehas now move on to other sports, so does the fan base.
  4. Probably rushing to a clock for tv might make the starters a bit edgy too.
  5. Wasn't that long ago shield matches, major shield matches drew big crowds, spose 20 years ain't that long ago and hasn't amalgamation done wonders for Rugby in the top of the South Island, maybe some others unions could consider it.
  6. 97 0, that don't really achieve anything.
  7. The reality is with betfair you can trade during a match, cashout easily if your in profit or minimizing a loss,, just don't think the TAB is the place for big bets in play, the cashout is miserable, and sometimes it disappears completely or the betting is suspended, and when your spending big that's not the way to go.
  8. The odds will better now, but in the event of the French winning who wins......Entain.
  9. Be interesting to know if any big players load up on the ABs tonight, 1 10 isn't much unless you have a lot on, big punters can't go anywhere else now.
  10. I haven't had a bet on sport since bet365 disappeared, one wonders how many others are same, until entain give in play notifications they can get fucked, how can you bet on a match that has no info, some don't even have live game animations either, mostly the NZ football games.........now I just checkout scores and tables on flash score, just out of general interest. I will still have a few bets on the gee gees when I can get enthused, but overall my spending is going to be well down, their loss, my gain.
  11. More than likely they would be losing punters, just like the one last night, on the other hand you could say that under the responsible gambling protocols they could have said no to the bet but they will only start doing that if one was a regular winner.
  12. Same stable that had a horse rated 63 against lower ratings last meet that burnt itself out, dropped a rating point though.
  13. Judging by noms for Oamaru, a few will be staying at home.
  14. Looks like I'm finished, full stop.
  15. If the codes are going to work closer then maybe selling/closing Avondale could help Alexandra Park, see how the galloping guys like that, they don't even like harness racing on their tracks.
  16. That race at Oamaru is 35k, it's a feature day but it's keeping at the same level as the others.
  17. Oamaru gallops have a 2yo race next week, think it's 25k, yet harness just keeps running 100k races for 2yo trotters, colts and geldings with half a dozen runners, even 3yo racings getting worse, it's probably the biggest single issue harness racing has to address moving forward next to the handicapping system.
  18. But by blocking out all the websites the unsuspecting won't know any different. I'm not sure about the casinos, many who play casinos ain't horse fans, but we need fifteen probably as much as we only need 1 racing site, oops sorry two, forgot the alternative in Betcha. Even if you had Betfair as a alternative I'm sure many would be more favorable about some change.
  19. Might not be long and these forums get closed down, as voicing an opinion is no longer deemed acceptable by the heirachy.
  20. My thoughts are if Auckland do continue, then relocate, build a bigger track that goes the same way as Cambridge, and yes have a training complex too, and have facillities in line with the number of people who go these days seriously it must be a nightmare on the roads every Friday for both horse trucks and the public, and that would be another negative for people going, either that or slowly die a slow death, change is good sometimes, I know we bang on about the Auckland situation but the present situation is tired and needs rejuvenating.
  21. True about Betfair, it was a bit micky mouse in some ways but a serious punter could request odds wait to get matched and a cashout offer, a fair one was always on screen, the issue is live info which was on 365 is gone, I used to get notifications when points were scored in rugby or league, goals and corners in soccer, home runs or runs in baseball, etc etc no sight does that now, have no issue with what TAB offer in live sport as such but it's almost like we've regressed back to the 70s 80s or 90s, if you push everything off the web from accessing then many don't know thd difference after time so new punters don't know, maybe the new punters will take up the slack from the ones they lose. As for racing I'm easy o about what the TAB offer, whether or not the patronage increases remains to be seen, I just have doubts spending will increase, for me I will still have a burst now and then, for Sport probably a lot less if at all, I'm not alone on that from what I'm hearing or reading.
  22. People punt on the tote if there is plenty of depth in the fields like the country grass meetings, kind of let the market determine the payout, so many harness races have such skinny odds without fixed odds you wouldn't bother, they should encourage not discourage some punters on the fixed, they win more than punters do.
  23. Just reading this story, if the government is funding Entain 119 mill a year, to allow Entain to meet its 150 mill commitment, that looks a bigger mickey mouse outfit than before, seems they put 150 mill to start, and another 100 coming but the governments playing Santa Claus,, if turnover don't lift to the levels they hope, then they will need to revert back to living within their means, Harness racing has been living beyond, don't have a opinion for the gallops.
