Why a trial?

Strange how some of those midweek harness meetings,(southland) are getting very average turnover yet weekend grass meetings going well,I bet the gallop figures probably run a parallel,maybe no radio has an impact midweek. TV is fine but it's a bit awkward lugging it around with me and my sky decoder all day,and yes we have our smartphones but you burn up data quick on video and it's not always reliable.radios a bit easier,simulcast on rova app is a miss mash,even a proper radio programme on busy days is a start,on times when nought much is doing then simulcast suffices. Maybe the reason radio failed was of the long transmission hours with a lot of dross,gee you only need a few hours to accommodate the listeners,I dont believe too many will be tuning in at 11 PM to hear a dog race.

Westport cup is a rating 55,a day after Westport day 2 Motukarara have a xmas cup rating 55,is that good scheduling, in between Nelson and Blenhiem in January there is a midweek meeting at Ashburton,is that good scheduling, are trainers gunna travel?Forbury fields tomorrow are very small,following 3 days straight in Canterbury and week after week in Southland of same old same old with Winton following on Saturday,is that a good calandar,not hard to see why Forbury lose out. In the north CD area lots of gallops meetings through summer time where dual meetings would probably be perfect,New Plymouth,December,then there is Hastings,Wanganui in Jan,gee a couple of years ago some of these gallop meetings over xmas had hardly any horses,at a time when people do go to the races,be interesting to see how numbers stack up this time round. Am I correct that the reason I heard why no trots last year at Wairarapa at new year was because it would have affected Cambridge numbers?

I think in recent years Westports main races have been small,probably due to the large numbers of races in Canterbury,country cups in the north,I see they are running a wellington cup at one of the 2 days at new year,why dont those harness clubs run a summer circuit with mini meetings in the cd at the gallop meetings like at new year,if it can happen then then why not more of it?

Put simply just drop off some of the meaningless crap during our time in the limelight.

If we want to promote nz racing I think it needs a nz first type mentality,I watched a wee bit of trackside on saturday,gee invers races were a bit rushed,I've noticed that ozzie have been showing races with what appears to be less cameras since the virus and our lot have followed but there is no need to cut nz coverage short for some of the rubbish they are screening.

I didn't see the race,but I did see he was a bit behind the others,such is life.

Just hearing that Jason Pine fella on zb saying how good our Cricket test team is,we are playing some very average team,to put things in perspective one only needs to rewind the clock back to last xmas in oz to get a better line on reality. I will stress that we can only play what's in front of us,I think with big money in 20 20 some of these guys dont give a shit.

Forbury Wednesday,top stake 7500,Methven following on from 2 average addingtons,add Winton racing next saturday,Rangiora Sunday,be interesting to see how Forbury go,these are the sort of meetings that seem to be passing by mostly unnoticed,judging by turnover stats,even a 5 o clock start is a unusual time,most people are just leaving work,who comes up with these ideas,just to add if Forbury are being regarded as a winter racing place why not Sundays instead of cold Thursday nights,do addington need those Sundays?

Maybe a lot of the all stars friends and associates liked the odds as well,in reality it's a very murky situation with the all stars with several in the same race,cant be easy for anyone really,I'd say it's doing harness racing a lot of negativity,maybe there is a reason that the country meetings are creating such good turnovers and some meetings doing poorly.

Now that Mark Cookson or Crooksons gone home just take note of the crap being dished up on trackside,its just wall to wall poop really,time to turn off,anybody sitting through this all night must have issues.

I could have put it on something paying a dollar 5,at least I would have got something lol,I might stick it on the spitfire.

So there were 2 late scratchings,when were they scratched,must have been close to start time.

Strange irony is that nz racing was at its strongest before the days of all these races,often one meeting raceday and no sports or fixed odds,maybe racings a victim of overkill and alternitives.

I remember there was a million dollar pick6 at addington one night,I think it was oaks night,(may)and one syndicate spent a huge sum to try and catch the fish,they backed 13 horses in the first race to get a good start,and you wouldn't believe it but the rank outsider in the 14 horse field won,the odds of that happening not great but they lost bigtime through,not sure if they just gave the prize to 5 winners,sometimes the prize only went to the ones who had tickets that stayed alive longest,probably that sort of result would put you off punting for a while but that's gambling I guess.

I'm basically a win and place better,we all have our favorites,and I will stress not a very good one,others might be a one or two big bets a day,exotics are obviously chasing larger returns but personally i just cant study the form that intensely so dont bother often,sports betting,are you into that,everyones different,can anybody say in all honesty they win at this game,not just in the short term but the long term,i know I havnt and it ain't for the lack of trying,this is not a easy game to be in.
