Congratulations to the owners and especially Amber Hoffman for the very dominating win by Averos Spifire! Either Amber Hoffman is the best trainer in NZ or Faulks is the worst? Seriously, the horse looked totally different to what it used to look, and raced totally the opposite to what it was several months ago! Has the freeze brand been checked by the Stewards, as that Averos Spitfire was a totally different horse to the one that raced for its first 59 starts!!!!!!!!!

No money for racing in Otago. Very few trainers in Dunedin now, so they wont be building any nee tracks. They may race on the grass at Wingatui, which is a shit of a track for harness. They will just race at Oamaru, but not looking that flash for harness unless you have horses in Canterbury full stop!!!

What was noticeable when I watched a few sales is that there is buggerall people there! Havent been for a few years but I do know that there was always a helluva lot more there than there was today! I will be surprised if the sale is any better tomorrow however I wouldnt be surprised if they paint a rosier picture than it actually is! Interesting times ahead as for many breeders, breeding horses is a loss making venture nowadays

He was a horse trainer as well in Sydney I think? Vinnie Silvero or some name along those lines. The fireworks would certainly get some horses running!

Just had a look at the sales results for the trotters yesterday. They say that the sales kicked off positively with the median up 30% from last year! I would hate to see a poor sale result! Looking at sales of the horses it appears that there was nit much interest at all going by the big no. Of Passed Ins and poor sale figures! Well breds werent selling for amounts that made it worth breeding when all costs and fees are taken into account! Going to be interesting the pacers today and tomorrow ! Here’s hoping for the breeders sake but they will paint a rosey picture either way!

Havent seen the results of the trotters sale today so will be interesting to see what they sold for in the morning results. To be racing horses nowadays, you nave to be doing it for the love of it as the chances of covering your costs is very very small! The catalogues are strong this year but are there enough people prepared to shell out big money in the hope that they have something that can run fast enough to win many races? The fact is that stake money most horses are currently racing for is a fraction of what the owners need, to make it a financially viable proposition! Hopefully things will turn around and harness stays sound in the South Island as the North Island harness racing is knackered!

Karrots, firstly the NZ Tab needs to be taken to task continuously in regards to the Treatment of many punters in NZ! I will continue to post about this while I am on BOAY. The fact that it does not affect you should not be any reason for Brodie to be victimised! Secondly politics is a very divisive topic at The moment and apathy from many people mainly from thE left is why NZ has many issues and they need debating. Seems unusual that he hasnt just trialled it on the quiet rather than race day! It went ok without being special but I am sure his AllStars stables can improve it with a bit of extra treatment! To be fair, the stable is down a notch or two, which is good to see

Gammalite, yes we are privileged to live in Australasia, but we surely choose to do this? What I am saying is that the-act of locking people down every time there is a positive test thousands of miles away can not continue!!!! The fact is that the only ones that have been hospitalised and or died are the vulnerable people and mostly were from Rosewood Dimentia ward! Without them the death toll of people that died WITH Covid19 wouldve been about 12!!!! There is around 800 die every week in NZ from other causes, and it is estimated that during lockdown 3 and 4, there wouldve been approx. 200 Females that didnt have breast cancer diagnosed due to not have the tests!!!!! So the statement that the Government in NZ is making decisions to protect all New Zealanders, with respect is just plain BULLSHIT!!! It is time that the sheep that listen to Ardern and Bloomfield every word, wake up to the fact that the decisions being made have got bigger dire results than looking good on a pedestal!!!!! That Dickhead you have in Melbourne also is just a control freak as well!!

Gama, everything that Chief has said is totally correct! The selfishness of a lot people is unbelievable! I have heard oldies ring up on talkback and say that young ones dont care about the older ones and should not be thinking about themselves!!! Reality is that the COVID19 lockdown is not a killer and the lockdown is! If you are scared of it and think you are vulnerable then lock yourself down! Locking everyone down every time that there is a positive case is just crazy shit! The country can not continue to do this and business and people lives are going to continue to suffer. The fact is as I have said on numerous times is that not one person has been killed solely due to Covid19!!! Financially on a personal note we have done exceptionally well out of it, however for the majority of business people, they are getting a hammering and many will just not survive!!!

What I would put my second to last million on, is that there is going to be a helluva lot more deaths caused by being locked up or down , than what Covid19 is ever going to kill! There has not been a single death in NZ to anyone that had good health from Covid19. There has and will be many more deaths to many with good health due to mental health issues caused from lockdowns and business failure!!!!!! People need to wake up to the fact that there will always be virus’s and that shutting down the country just does not work! The common influenza every year normally kills many hundreds in NZ every year but this Government doesnt mention this, as it does not fit with Arderns agenda!!

Maybe if she stopped locking people in their houses things could improve a bit? Probably not, we need to get back to having kids active again at school! Problem is most of the teachers are not in great shape either!

Galah, my thoughts are that it can only be good for the industry, if the playing field was evened up! Why was there an announcement that they were taking a break and yet Purdon is still involved? Take a look at the Greyhounds where 2 kennels in the North Island have dominated with no.s! Greyhounds look like they may be on the way out within the next few years, and with Swarbrick having a vigilante against them, not looking fantastic!

Basil, what this Covid19 thing has shown to me is just t how easily controlled people can be!!! We had weeks of Ardern and Bloomfield wanking on about being kind, washing hands, social bloody distancing etc. Many months after the South Island has had not a single case in the community, we still have so many Dickheads scanning barcodes so they can be tracked doWn! These people clearly want to be controlled! How they have survived in society up until now is a bit mystifying? FFS this Covid 19, socalled deadly virus that is now continuing to mutate, is a very mild virus and we will have a lot worse come thru in The years ahead! The common flu virus that we get every year kills hundreds, so why havent we locked down before now? Of course this is a very divisive subject and most people will have an opinion, however if you are scared, then just stay at home and let the sane people live their life!!! 2 of the socalled positive tests went to the Taranaki and yet Taranaki is only Level 2 like the rest of the Country??? I reiterate, the Government is the most incompetent NZ has ever had to endure without doubt!!!

Thats my point Chief. We just can not keep locking country down due to someone testing positive with no symptoms! There are approx 800 people die each and every week in NZ and yet 25 people of old age die with a virus and people run scared? If you are worried stay at home but stop the control. Suicides are far worse than this virus is ever going to kill. Totally out of her league.
