What is not a great look and profitable is 5 horse races and good stakes! How long can this continue before stakes are dropped?

Gamma, yes harness is struggling big time for punters. Was speaking to someone the other day who is in the know and confirmed that harness turnover is declining which most of us must know. Tote pools mostly are nothing like they used to be and unless others are able to get decent fixed odds bets on then that wagering will be declining. How on earth is harness racing going to attract new punters to offload when they dish up this stupid short distance racing. I know some will come on and say it was a success and they enjoyed it but as a spectacle today it was pretty boring. Even several of the winners today you would not have touched going on previous performances, so why would punters bother?? Gamma, you are correct the stands over 1700m are not a fair playing field. No doubt Methven will run the short distance races again and trainers will support them but as an attraction for the punter yeah/nah

Terrible racing. Stands over 1700m? May well be easier on the horse, just terrible for form and punting!! Harness is struggling if we have to resort to this crap!

Ranga, it doesn’t affect me really as I don’t punt much nowadays. Didnt do the punting for financial reasons, don’t need to . Brodie prerogative to point out truths and whether you agree with them is your prerogative. Aa for egg on the face, not sure about that but if it makes you happy then so be it!

Lets just see what happens going forward! Why did they announce this socalled handing over to Cullen if they were going to be around as much as they are? Some people will believe anything, just look at the followers of Ardern!!! People hang on every word and every decision and het this is the most inept government that NZ has ever had without doubt! Do I know what they are doing at the stables? I have a pretty good idea! It all seems a very very strange setup indeed. If they were wan ting to take things easy and step back a bit, then why did they just not set up a partnership with Cullen??????????

Do not agree Chief. If they wanted more of a relaxed lifestyle why did the stable change over to Hayden Cullen? Why didnt they just leave the stable as the AllStars and had Hayden Cullen as stable foreman? They havent left the stable at all and nothing has changed at all except the colours which weren’t going to be originally. Not sure about conspiracy theories but it is a load of bollacks that Purdon/Rasmussen has handed over the reigns to Cullen!!!

Basil, clearly you like being controlled. Brodie does not appreciate being controlled and will always voice an opinion when something is wrong. NZ. Is meant to be a democracy, however it is far from this now. There is so many things nowadays that are being dictated to society that is just so wrong and I am not like you Basil, a sheep!

You would have to be pretty naive if you still believe that Hayden Cullen is in charge of the Rolleston Stable. They told us that Purdon/Rasmussen were taking a break from racing!!!!!! They have not taken a break from racing at all, it is a load of baloney, and you can now tell that they are back training without doubt! Take things easier for awhile and consider our future!! Yeah right, very disappointing for harness racing!

Willangus Lad running in race 5 tonight at Addington has cemented my thoughts that Southland trotting races are far inferior to Canterbury trotting races. Why the Bookies had the horse so short is hard to fathom when it has not been racing too much down south. Yes there is Chinese Whispers but most of the trotters down south would not be that competitive in Canterbury and that js why they remain mostly down south. Yes there is the odd trotter that goes good but is racing pretty average horses. You can see why The Williamson’s campaign down south!

Actually why dont they have Crown and Anchor at the Casino’s?

With respect Chief, what has that got to do with big time property development and decision making? What sort of a job did she do at the Chch Town hall that aualified her for the ATC and the Dunedin casino? Watched her once when she was talking about the apartments at Alexandra Park and she seemed quite clueless, but then I do not hang around with these loser execs!!!,

So this Domonique Dowding stuffs up big time with the ATC and had no idea back in 2014 and now Dunedin Casino has her in charge! How on earth these hopeless socalled executives continue to obtain highly paid roles is very mind boggling! Dowding has success with what does anyone know? The ATC losing tens of millions is unbelievable when the land was free and house prices have increased dramatically over many years! John Allan from the TAB is just another example of a niller that leaves destruction wherever he goes!

Thanks Karrots would be interested to find out the financial result from the project! Is there commercial property in the complex owned by the ATC that will gibe them an ongoing return? Did they manage to sell their commercial properties that they were trying to sell do you know?

Karrots, appreciate that it was extremely poorly managed, but has the ATC made any money, broken even or made a loss are you aware?

Good to hear that some of the apartments are being lived in. Does anyone know if they are all sold as I am sure there were many that pulled out due to time over run? With all the extra costs including legal expenses has the ATC actually covered its costs bearing in mind the land was free? Would be good watching the racing from the apartments with your own food and bevies!

Yeah it ran 3rd not bad fixed place odds, but I didnt end up backing it as restrictions were too harsh a d so didnt bother after that! Enthusiasm for punting comes and goes nowadays and if the NZ TAB dont want punters then I will not play their silly games! They should be encouraging punters to offload rather than stopping them from offloading.

The Premier meeting races are not always that exciting. The tight class racing is normally very over rated! I take it that Purdon/Rasmussen are still totally involved with the day to day running of the stable, so much for taking time off!

Was thinking that myself Galah. Hey there was a big jumps race on though from OZ that every NZ punter would know the form to and would have had a big punt! As I have said previously, the NZ TAB does not give a rats about harness racing in NZ, the money to them is from OZ as the costs are so low. The fact that it is a Premier meeting means nothing to them!
