  1. Gammalite, the Ozzies know that NZ horses are better than their home bred ones, that is why they buy them! We dont buy racing horses from Oz basically because we know on the whole they arent worth the effort to race in NZ. Week in and week out we see ex NZ horses lining up in OZ in quick time from leaving NZ and bolt in. Arden Rooney and Tiger Tara were very good horses already made in NZ, and thrived in Oz, where the racing is easier. Fact is that the AllStars horses and other NZ trainers that send horses over cleanup over there. Yes you have some good horses but on the whole, most that run around on your saucer tracks wouldnt be competitive in NZ! It is great that Ozzie has inferior horses as it always gives a market for the Kiwis to sell their horses to.
  2. Most of the Ozzie horses are not much chop! NZ horses are far superior Mehe, you only have to see what average horses here can do in Oz! The better drivers tend to get the better drives and therefore far easier to win races. Racing in NZ is of a far higher standard!
  3. If you are driver a better class of horse, it is going to make your UDR so much better. Even if you are a good driver but driving duds, then you arent driving many winners.
  4. Gammalite, yes you are correct you have some very good drivers and some shockers just like NZ does! Pete McMullen may well win a lot of races but he also drives a lot of horses and to be fair most are far inferior to NZ horses! If NZ didnt send so many over your racing would not be as good as it is! What I do remember is Pete McMullans fathers horses that he drove used to pull very nard and be as weak as piss! He would be swinging on them at the 400m and then just run out of energy! As for Natalie Rasmussen, she is a very skilled horsewoman, bjut you also have to take into account the quality of the horses she has been driving! Interesting debate but Dex and Blair are out of the box!
  5. Gammalite, you have to be kidding if you think any of your Ozzie drivers are anywhere near as good as Blair or Dexter! None of the 3 you mentioned are in the same class as our better drivers in NZ! Yes they may be good in Oz but wouldnt be as successful in NZ. You only have to see what Dexter is doing in the USA and Blair would be doing the same if he was over there. McMullen and Co. are just not in the same league
  6. Does anyone know how the Australian harness rating system works? I take it that NR means No Rating! When these races are raced, it seems a crazy way of programming a meeting. When you look through the horses records, there are non winners racing against horses that have won plenty of races and plenty of stake money!!!!! Why would well tried maidens even contemplate lining up against horses that nave won multiple races?? There are heaps of these NR races over there for some reason!
  7. $220.50 costs and $400 fine? Habraken name doesnt appear to be on the unpaid forfeit list nlw? Wonder how much was owing as a lot of the amounts owing are pretty pathetic amounts! You would wonder why you wouldnt pay it if you owed it, rather than being published? Think the situation could have been handled better than it was, but there definitely seems to be a fair bit of tension between trainers drivers and RIU throughout NZ!!
  8. Good bloke though!
  9. Hunter, John Dunn is the above! Personally can not see Vesnina going on with it unless it can learn to pace correctly or its career is over shortly. Wont get a weaker race than it was in yesterday and was definitely driven well as could possibly be! Terry Chmiels horse is not overly gifted.
  10. Mikie, stop being a plonker!
  11. Of course not! Totally different scenario Happy. The Cup start there were many horses that were not given a fair start from the stand as they were all over the place. With the mobile start yesterday, at the Candy Pole the Gill runner was only half a length back and then when thr mobile sped up, it couldnt go, which was not surprising! As I keep saying, the issue was always going to be the fact that Mahia drew behind it. Didnt realise that it ran on for 4th which was probably its best race! Mahia paced terribly most of its race and was not going to place the way it went anyway.
  12. Correct, has major issues with its gait, and the fact it won yesterday says more about the lack of ability of the opposition!
  13. Na, not a Stipe although could do every bit as good as they do! Reality is Happy, that Gill trained horse shouldnt be at the races if it can not keep up behind the gate. It hasnt got much ability and drawing behind it was always going to be the problem even if it hadve been nosing the gate. Dont think it made any difference at all to the placed horses ultimately! I do know what you are saying and you are correct and even more so if you look at the late scratchings a couple of weeks ago.
  14. Happy, you are correct that Mahia was certainly hampered by the no.1 horse, which I knew it would be because it is a dog and got no speed. Yes if you had backed it you would be pissed off, but it was always going to be the case whether the Gill horse was hard up on the gate or not, it was in trouble! The first 3 home always looked the 3 including Le Tissier who has gone a few good races and had Robbie Holmes back on today. Did it get a fair start? Bot if you think it shouldve been further up on the gate than it was!
  15. Personally think Mark Dunnett is not overly brave! Havent watched the replay yet, but I think that her drive on Glacier Coaster was far more unlucky, galloping in the trail when it was cruising!!
  16. Not sure about that Happy? It was always going to be slow out as the horse it was following out should be racing on the inside track! Good day for sorting them out.
  17. How could you back it Hunter, the way it had been going? The fields are far better punting fields today than recently!!
  18. There you go thats why it was so short lol. Paced like a drunken crab most of the race as if it had the pins still in. Weak field but a win is a win.
  19. Does anyone have an answer for why Vesnina is so short today? Opened at $4.60into $3.60! Hes it is now trained by John Dun at the beach, but so short? Never shown anything on race day and is a maiden against race winners, event hough they are not much. Drawn the second row behind a horse that hasnt got great gate speed, and Vesnina always goes rough! Just wondering?
  20. Geez, the only decent Barrett is Scott! Beauden can not kick to save himself and Jordie is certainly no winger!
  21. To be fair William Wallace is a Mitch Kerr made horse! Lol
  22. Give Mr Lamb a chance, he is still learning! Yeah needs to go from every track.
  23. Certainly not a great look when Mitchell relinquished his license before being charged! Why does this Martin van Beynon have it in for Harness Racing does anyone know? I am sure there are many builders, butchers, sparkies etc. that are getting into trouble but nothing written about that as a froup!
  24. To be honest it is not fair to pick on the new Minister of Foreign Affairs! The fact is that there is absolutely not one of the Labour party that is going to be successful with their portfolios! It is going to be an absolute train wreck which is going to have everyone one who voted for them wishing that they had not! As Chief posted, the fact that Ardern thinks that there is a climate change emergency and is a priority just shows what we have at the helm!!!!!!!
