Just can not wait until we have Jewels day, mile racing at Cambridge! Seriously needs to be changed to 2200m would be so much better! Forget about miles, boring and unfair and Jewels day is over rated and a huge cost to the industry.

Premier night racing at Addington where the fields are pretty even and the TAB Bookies/Accountants still think it is prudent to put heavy restrictions on punters? You would think that they would be KIND and reasonable and have the ability to think that they would be safe to encourage punters to offload! But alas, no we can not have certain punters offloading with the sole legal betting agency in NZ, in case they WIN!!! NZ TAB Accountants, you have a seriously flawed business policy that is affecting NZ harness racing. Your punters are voting with their feet/wallets and stating that turnover is increasing is just plain bollacks. you are in Dreamland if you think punters are putting more and more on and that there is new harness punters coming on board! You are relying on Sports Betting and Ozzie gallops for your income and harness punters can go away!

Easter Cup A Team (Gamms) Vs The Others (Karrots)
Brodie replied to Karrots's topic in Trotting Chat
Karrots everyone just contemplating what a great betting card at Addington Saturday night! Personally after looking at the fixed odds there is only one horse all night that is paying odds that are worth taking. Motukarara fields Monday arvo are far better but then it ks going to be a very difficult day, as the track ks going to be on the slow side you would think! -
It is a load of BS when they spurt out that wagering on racing is increasing! You only have to look at the pathetic tote pools on most races nowadays, certainly racing is losing its interest for many former enthusiasts! Tote decreasing and fixed odds you just can not get enough on to make it worth the effort! The only thing that will be a keeping racing going in NZ is the sports betting and the Oz racing where the costs are low.

Blair Orange drives very professionally! The fact remains that he had less alcohol in his blood than what is acceptable to be able to drive a car! Yes there is a rule but as we all should know there are plenty of dumb rules that need amending! Blairs driving ability would not have been affected by a small amount of alcohol still registering in his blood. He would be able to drive a damn site better than most kf the kther drivers with one eye closed!
-
There is an amount that drivers are allowed and Blair was very slightly over! By the time he wouldve been driving the reading wouldve been zero!, A small amount of alcohol in the blood would not be of any danger to other drivers whatsoever If there was a danger then the limit should be ZERO!
-
Dont think he would be expecting anything other than a life ban from racing. Personally although he has done a lot wrong, hopefully things improve for Mitchell, and he gets thru ok. What I would like to know is how come the betting agency whatever it was in Oz, allowed him to lose such big amounts? The NZ TAB advertises that it cares about losing punters in NZ! They also care about winning punters as well, so much so they stop them from punting so they are a really caring bunch aren’t they?
-
Gammalite, he would not have been over any limit when he jumped in the cart to drive! They would be better to scrutinise the nilness of some of the drivers that are incompetent! Blair is not incompetent!
-
Gammalite, firstly It was not JJ that I was intimating was wanking on about The AllStars at all, so keep up! Blair Orange was not a drunk driver either!!!! Brodie’s perogative to point out the error of the NZ TAB’s ways and their very poor ethics, in that they treat punters unequally! Not too much fun for Brodie, probably not enough on Premier night Gamma?

JJ Flash, I am at a loss as to what your agenda is? Chief, runs a very fair forum BOAY, gives everyone the opportunity to discuss things! We wont always agree with each other all the time and we will have the odd slightly heated discussion. What I suggest you do is not to come over to the Brightside just to cause mayhem. If you are happier over on the Dark Side then stay over there and do not waste your time on here as most of the time, you are pissing many off! I was banned from the Darkside along with many many others for having an opinion that was different to the clown that runs the site!!!! It was no loss in fact it was probably of benefit to myself. We will Let the nutters that wanked on about the AllStars stable, that never bet and have orgasms over them to their own devices! As for Chief I have never met, but is doing a great job in allowing racing enthusiasts voice an opinion. Long may it continue!

Without Telfer in the North Island, it would be in an even more precarious position. Still have doubts that racing in the north can continue the way it is with the stake money it currently pays due to the small fields and dwindling owners, trainers and drivers. The industry can not afford it and there is no way that they are profitable currently, has to be supported by Sports betting.
-
You are correct Galah. You only need to go out country and see all the deteriorating unused horse boxes around a d no horses in sight! A lot of the older trainers have just given it away! Several of our younger trainers that have given it a go are ousted! Purdon and co on the sidelines for awhile! No money in racing horses in NZ nowadays at all. I saw on Trackside yesterday Harness Flashbacks of a race in the United States many many decades ago for $65,000 USD. We have races for $8k??????? Seriously, why would owners bother?
-
Why were they backing it and so short?
-
Just wondering what the reason for the scratching is?
-
Ranga, what pussy out of the bag? Did they swab the horse for something?
-
No dont know where he is. Hopefully he is well and still reading on herr. He was a good bloke
-
Very interesting as to why it was scratched today? Has anyone heard any rumours?
-
Galah, some very fair points, however it is the gutter journalism by VB and SS and the rehashing and crucifying of harness racing that is abhorrent here! Yes I appreciate there have been some astonishing turnarounds in horses form etc. and that also includes The Spitfire! I am certainly not questioning Amber Hoffmans training ability however! The Inca BS has cost the industry heavily financially and publicity wise and yet still nothing! Yes I do not condone any cheating but FFS who is it that is feeding this muck raking stuff to The Press?
-
The Plonker VB is at it again in The Press!!!!! FFS he is such a loser journalist. He has now noted that 2 of Jesse Alford’s formerhorses are lining up for other trainers!!! Galah, please acknowledge that this Plonker and his mate are totally over the top with this assassination of harness participants!
-
Forget about the early starts Brodie! Geez the fields tonight being Friday are just so awful flr having any sort of a punt! Apart from small fields, can anyone get excited about any of the races as a betting proposition?
-
Forbury now or when it is closed down? Unfortunately for racing, the crowds that used to go have gradually faded away! Several reasons for this Unhinged!
-
Probably not a helluva lot better but surely it is very hard for alot of people who perhaps own horses to bet out there by 4.0pm especially with the traffic?
-
Addington last night had its first race start just after 4 pm. Does anyone know why they started so early? You would think that it would be very hard for most people to get out there if they had been working? Admittedly there is very few staff employed nowadays but surely turnover would not be that flash?
-
I agree with you Ranga, and have asked before why this is not published. You present a winning fixed odds ticket and receive less than what it says you should be getting! We are expected to receive what they give you without any details?
-
Galah, not defending the actions of those that have been written about by Van Beynon and now Sherwood! However the continued assassination of young harness trainers week in and week out by journalists has worn very thin! FFS every week their stories contain the mention of previous indiscretions that are not relevant! Van Beynon wrote the crap about Operation Inca being the crimes of the century and yet still nothing! As I say, lets see them publish the names of gang members that are doing crimes and then mention other gang members names that did crimes last year! Of course he wont because for some reason they are targeting harness!
