Being based near the Petone TAB hasnt helped harness getting any favours from it! Pathetic effort in accepting the TAB paying out in arrears! Heez harness is so lucky to nave such a skilled negotiator

Still we hear nothing in regards to the ridiculous standing start to race 9 on 9/8/2020!!!! HRNZ have not announced the result of this so called enquiry that was opened up on it, was this just BS???? Of course it is BS, as there is no need to have integrity if you are employed by certain members of the RIU!!!! CoMe on Mr Holden, you are now the permanent CEO of HRNZ, so seem you think you can do the job, come down hard on the starter, and show us all why you have the confidence of the HRNZ! We will take it that you Are not up to the position if we dont see any action!!!!!

Certainly very confusing as to what on earth is going on? HRNZ are very confident in Mr Holden’s ability and yet they are going to advertise the position and get someone else? So if you are so confident in his ability then why are you Looking for someone else? This is surely saying that Mr Holden is not what we we require? Very confusing isn’t it?

Wow!!! The TAB have taken a couple of $500 bets on Fabrizio @$2!!!!!!!! Geez, they reckon these bets are worth mentioning on Trackside??? What a major risk they are taking!!!! They have thrown caution to the wind arent they?? Well done Bookies, way to go you risk takers!

Why on earth does the TAB have head to heads for gallops both NZ and overseas, and yet we dont get any on harness? Headies on gallops from Gore and even Bendigo in Oz! This Winsurance that they are running appears to be a load of crock, and would be interesting to see how much harness punters are actually Wagering on it? What I would suggest the TAB actually does, is talk to punters as to what they want to wager on! Mr Phil Holden as the CEO of HRNZ needs to go into bat for harness before the industry goes into oblivion!

So we don’t have a right to any privacy Ranga? So someone buys a Product with cash, and the supplier always gets a name of who they supplied to? So, the TAB don’t care who the customer is if the punter is only small time but should they want to win more than $1k, we can not have that, without knowing who they are! They could be money launderers even though they have only spent $20!!!!! The fact is Ranga, when the TAB is limiting punters to only net $200 on a bet, they are killing the industry big time. If they werent bailed out by the NZ taxpayer they would all be out of a job!

Why a backstreet Bookmaker? The NZ TAB is doing a very poor job considering they have a monopoly on the racing and sports betting industry in NZ! The fact is that with the way they are acting as supposed Bookmaking, they may well be better off going back to Tote betting only!! The reality is that the TAB will not take on any risk now and are going to ruin racing in NZ!

Hunter, apart from poor odds, even if you want a bet, they limit you to be only sble to bet a couple of hundred dollars most often!,, Not worth the effort now, and Phil Holden stated that he wanted to DRIVE TURNOVER!!! BS, Mr Holden, talk to the NZ TAB about what they are doing to diminish harness turnover? You have got no idea what you are talking about unfortunately! You want punters or you just want punters who are going to lose to keep the industry on life support?

There is no value from the TAB mostly, from opening the Fixed Odds now! When you have 5 horses opened at well under $2 for a place, you know you are just wasting your time. You would be better to save your punting money and take the wife or partner out for tea and entertainment! Record the racing so you can fast forward it later seem there is now no decent lead ins

Horrible punting fields on Friday nights nowadays! Very rarely any value and generally you are running for third at best in many races! I Believe that interest for the racing and betting is falling off dramatically from the previous hardcore of oncourse punters! No point going oncourse nowadays when you can not wager what you want without verifying who you are and the TAB knowing who is offloading! Unfortunately, there are several things at play all at the one time that is causing the harness industry to decline. Recent decisions made by the suits and hierarchy are very nard to fathom, but the new fulltime CEO might deliver!!!!

They dont mind sports betting as it is a big winner for them! They have this bee in their bonnet about harness racing because their percentage yield on harness with the fixed odds was well down on gallops and the greyhounds! The idiots in power at the TAB brilliant idea was to stop harness punters from winning and rely on the losing punters to increase yield for them! The dickheads business plan is so flawed, instead of decreasing turnover they should be wanting to increase it!!!!!! Even at a lower yield, if their turnover was increased then their profit would be greater on a higher turnover! The NZ TAB has a monopoly with racing but the reality is that the intelligence of the ones making decisions is extremely low! The fact that they allowed a lemon of a system that more or less bankrupted them, clearly shows this! The NZ TAB will never prosper under the current regime of suits and they need a cleanout!!!!!!

NEWS ALERT!!! The Brodster is restricted, currently and for many years now! Does not matter what I back, I can not get on what I want to wager, fullstop. If I have a bet and odds dropped, I can not get another wager on even at the reduced amount straight away. Often this saves me alot of money, and obviously the NZ TAB also misses out on profit! This flawed business model they have adopted is costing the TAB turnover and therefore reduced payout to harness racing from the TAB!!!!!

Doubt whether it will leave the station, going by who has now been put in the station masters seat!

Mikie, with your experience of admin etc. for harness facing, you have analysed the funding pretty closely I would imagine! However, even allowing for reduced payments to the non metropolitan clubs, i am struggling to see how $15k can be afforded to pay out, with a struggling TAB turnover?

What I want to know is how on earth are they able to be paying out $15k for each harness race? That seems a helluva lot, when turnover is much reduced by TAB restrictions and shutting everything down! This is a financially flawed budget, but I doubt they can see this! Unfortunately Harness Racing is in a very precarious position currently, and appointing a CEO with no success is not going to help. Unless someone who knows Mr Holden can come on and explain his success’s! Silence will mean doom!,

Harness deserve what they get if they are prepared to accept a CEO that has no track record of success! Appointed solely as temporary, and yet he is given the job permanently without any indication whatsoever of knowing what he is doing, and part time at best. Anyway, pointless debating it as harness racing is seriously on the way out! FFS, the way this has occurred just shows how things have deteriorated, and watch this space as people realise they need someone in the job with some expertise!!! Apparently the greyhounds dont have too much good to say, so you wouldve thought that HRNZ wouldve taken notice of that, wouldnt you????????

Crazy that crowds can not be oncourse in the South Island! FFS, there is not A single case in the South Island for many months and they want us to be SCARED!!!!!! Creating panic and scaremongering is what they do, so that we can be controlled! It is blatant BS! No one has died from Covid19 in NZ, and the last one they counted, tested negative to it! I am not a Nazi fullstop! I have no political affiliation, I vote for who I think will be best for NZ, If I thought that Labour were the best party to lead NZ, then I would vote for them! The truth of the matter unfortunately, is that we have the worst possible coalition government at a time when we need a government with economical sense, This lot in 3 years have achieved absolutely nothing of benefit to NZ, every policy that they campaigned on has been a total failure! How on earth anyone could vote for a party that has been a total failure defies logic!!! A vote for the left is a vote for failure!

Whiplash, not sure why you want to call me a Cxxt? I will take that as a compliment, as they can be useful! The “Brodster” says it the way it is,, and asks the questions that need to be asked! Harness Racing is struggling more than it ever has, and yet we have these drongos in important positions, not performing to a high standard! They have successfully made sure that one of their most promising drivers/ trainers has been forced out of the industry, so well done there. I dont give a rats if people dont agree with me, as I dont rely on harness racing for a living! I do care that so many very hardworking people who do rely on harness racing for a living are going to also be forced out of racing, due to incomptetence. Better decision making needs to be made from hierarch, however I doubt very much that the current lot are capable enough!!!

Happy, be kind? The RIU have totally persecuted many people unnecessarily from the harness racing industry. It has cost them hundreds of thousands and for what? Notging! Young Matt Anderson has been totally stuffed by the RIU and now they want $5k off him for costs? Yet they have several less than average employees on very good money and they want to get $5k off Matt Anderson when he has not got it? And Happy, you want to be kind to them?
