  1. LOL AD (AD stands for all day) If the FOB disaster came earlier the results would have been far worse. Curious auditors conclusion needs careful reading. "Conclusion Based on our review, nothing has come to our attention that causes us to believe that these interim financial statements of the Group do not present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Group as at 31 January 2019, and of its financial performance and cash flows for the period then ended, in accordance with IAS 34 and NZ IAS 34."
  2. "Tuned" into the song i mean TAB website Saturday night to see how the million dollar experts would handle daylight saving. All I saw and heard was Neil Young playing his song. Something like adjusting time before the off just outside the skill range at the TAB
  3. Not realized by many is that back in the sixties Trevor McKee kept Taranaki racing going. He was by far the biggest supporter in terms of numbers visiting horses. I mentioned that to him a year ago whilst watching trials at Avondale and also thought he looked quite well. Very sad how quickly over one year his health must have deteriorated. That on top of Kevin Crampton so not a good time for the Takanini connection.
  4. Look we are on the same "page". THe Informant Form Supplement may be a work of art but just impractical. However some sort of printed fields are required but in a more on demand way that compliments online information. The racing media would function much better away from Racing Board control.
  5. Its really hard for an independent outfit to publish these days. One of the factors not appreciated by many is that in the days of Friday Flash,Best Bets/Turf Digest,Sportsweek shops, dairies would have advertising billboards, on the counter presence etc promoting the publication and indirectly racing. Whether its NZTR or TAB they really must set up a separate media organisation for TV, Radio, Print and web. A $2.00 publication is the way to go.
  6. I think some of that $50m has ended up on the waterfront at the Viaduct. One stern critic on another site drastically changed his tune and now only bashes NZTR.
  7. Just go to clipform.net Been there for twenty years same format. Not guaranteed being 100% accurate but quick to to get a comprehensive idea of the form.
  8. Yes The Informant should have tried a different format ditching the form supplement, reducing the price to $2.00 just as an incentive for the retailer and relied on advertising, Also making a deal with NZR/HRNZ/GRNZ and sports bodies for supply of content. Circulation and advertising go together. Years ago I suggested to Dennis Ryan to have the Form supplement separated but he was adamant it must be included. I really think he was a late acceptor to the fact race form is best suited online.
  9. A publication these days starts with advertisements then if you can fit it in the articles. Any other approach won't work.
  10. Christian Crusader possibly a bit silly I guess. Nazi Warrior wouldn't go down as well so a bit of common sense needed. As for Nasrullah you.ve got me baffled there.
  11. I go to the website because Happy Valley is racing. Expect to see it in the "next to go" box because TV says 5 minutes to start. No Hong Kong there at all. Has Greyville, Compaigne etc but no Happy Valley. Click yesterday still no Happy Valley in box but find it as per yesterday. Click win movers and get Pakenham. Click Extended form for Happy Valley and get Pakenham as well.
  12. TAB have changed it back. Probably after my phonecall. Notice they have changed the initial sort order for dividends which is good.
  13. Now there is no racing available at all. Well I guess thats the sledgehammer method of fixing problems.
  14. Who said the web site couldn't get any worse. The TAB have changed when you take a horse in a trifecta or first four for say first place you get given the horse to run 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Thats a clear case of being sold something you don't want. . In order to take a horse for 1st only you have to unclick 2nd, 3rd, 4th. TAB as much as we want changes please don't make anymore "changes" it only gets worse.
  15. Congrats Reeton. Quite a story the ups and downs of Leo just can't understand why spoiled by his online antics. Looks by the ownership you guys all chipped to get him into HQ so big success there as well.
  16. mardigras, chief stipe and others. I wrote an extensive reply and then it just dissapeared. Has happened before. Initially I thought it may be censorship but seems the period for staying logged in whilst writing anuthing is far too short. Most frustrating. Will reply to this topic when time permits.
  17. As I have noticed on here although not a very good participant - following racing via a competition can be far more enjoyable than trying to outwit a nameless, faceless bookie. When one goes to a Casino most prefer the group participation around a table rather than up against a poker machine. Racing is composed of all sorts of groups and the motivation to get into a syndicate is the interaction among the group. Since the internet age racing administrators have not grasped this significance but have spent millions pursuing the old formula of tote, and bookie betting. When I go to a TAB I would like to go and compete and interact with the others. Instead all I can do is just put the money into a national pool or national bookie. Thats very boring. So the answer must be smaller localized pools or specific interest pools rather than one big national tote pool. AS well I can't see the future for bookie betting unless its just to cater for the high rollers. WE don't need bookies. Far better and economic using their brains to grow racing and let punters themselves act as bookies although not the way Betfair does it.
  18. So was there anything of interest spoken?
  19. Sorry can't agree. D minus
  20. Yes certainly was refreshing. Comprehensive, quick, non time waster. Thats something TAB software programmers don't appreciate.i.e. everyones time is precious. Punters react negatively to their time being devalued. I started clipform.net 20 years ago to speed up form research.. Its still used by say TV presenters, bookies, pro punters, agents etc who value their own time. Over the twenty years the format has stayed the same. Be great to have a tiny portion of TAB budget to make improvements.
  21. My mistake yes Ashburton is 4. Why break the formula normally South Is 6. Still doesn't explain the non show of Te Aroha, They definitely have assigned 6 for Te Aroha. Could it be they have sacked the locals at TAB and only have the overseas parasitic bookie employees running the show who haven't a clue about NZ place names.
  22. You have got to laugh at TAB. According to TAB there is no NZ gallop meeting on Friday. BUT there is i.e. Te Aroha. What the TAB have done is assign JetBet No. 6 to Te Aroha. Now the standard rule with fields at the TAB is you can't have the same meeting number on two consecutive days. The Thursday Ashburton meeting has M6 so I guess it won't be until Friday we'll see the fields for Te Aroha.
  23. Not a word so far from Bernard Saundry with regard the new website when it is of vital importance to thoroughbred racing. All the NZTR bigwigs hid behind the Delloites report and weren't prepared to come out equivocally themselves "This is bad for racing". There is just nothing in this website that can grow racing. Best solution ditch it and start from scratch.
  24. One less woman in racing. Looks like Sally has been bad girl. https://www.racenet.com.au/news/sally-snow-resigns-from-tab-20190306 https://www.smh.com.au/sport/racing/tab-trading-boss-resigns-after-being-warned-of-by-racing-nsw-20190306-p5123e.html
  25. Plenty of wise after the event comments now but where were all the comments when this Openbet/PaddyPower was first mooted. Most were of the ilk "TAB must modernise", "it will take them into the 21st century.","Jet Bet is antiquated", "Must move forward with technology" etc etc blah blah blah. On Racecafe I said from day one this was solely for sports betting and a disaster for racing. The Racecafe self appointed guru supreme running under alias p4p was in favour so the Racecafe non thinking poodles all fell in line. Heavens above can't go against what god says that's just not allowed on Racecafe. Well as in so any instance the p4p character is horribly wrong again. Total dreamer as well if he thinks he might get on the board. with a list of abuse stretching fifteen years those chances are nil.
