Taku Umanga
With the amount of media coverage this has received, all those charged should have their licences suspended until they are proven not guilty. HRNZ has the power to do so. That is the only way that the industry will claw back any form of respect in the eyes of the general public.

I understand the Rules of Racing were changed maybe 6-7 years ago, so that anyone under investigation could have their license suspended It was in response to Lisa Cropp carrying on riding when under investigation

hesi
I recall the issue with Cropp, was that NZTR did not have the legal power to suspend, so the rule had to be amended. A situation of innocent till proven guilty, therefore NZTR had no legal right. Might be the same with Harness??

Wow, have a look at Blair after the start when in front. Have you ever seen a driver look around so much, gives himself away, he is glancing back in field looking for Stuart runner. Then with just over lap to go, sees jimmy coming, quite happy to sit and take trail, who does that on that track.

The two best horses in the field cleared out to win.
Rangatira
The Informant understands at least three more stables in the wider Canterbury region have been visited by Police this morning. Two are in North Canterbury and one is in West Melton.

Gavin
There is just no way the Police would charge these people unless they felt there was enough evidence to gain convictions. All those accused are innocent until proven guilty of course but a very black day for the industry. Genuinely shocked and saddened to see Blair charged. Nigel McGrath was one of those involved in the blue magic fiasco. By his previous standards, he has been quiet ever since until the last year or so. How many times has the name John Dunn been mentioned in the last two years by stewards etc? By far the biggest name is that of N.R. The potential connotations of her charge don't reflect well. The fact Matt Anderson with his connection to NR has been charged with race fixing and possession is also a huge red flag. The industry has been trending down for some time. This will do nothing for the confidence of everyone in any way associated with the game. There's me thinking only NSW and Queensland had choreographed many of their races. Rangatira
Sources have told Stuff the NZ Derby at Addington last year is part of the investigation and that people interviewed were asked about phone conversations that had been monitored by the police. last years or last seasons
