  1. I would have thought these young lads not familiar with the tight country circuit, get any some advice from senior riders ,or the apprentice mentors, who have probably ridden around these circuits many times. But then again like alot of apprentices in all trades,do they want to listen or be told.
  2. Trouble is a lot of owners dont want a horse that needs time, maybe a little different for tavistock, being proven in all, and he his been a great sire. These days they want the youngsters that get to the races and show ability, many don't make it when time to grow and mature, you may see a different outcome, just my opinion.
  3. Can't beat that b and d.
  4. Crickey you got to have ago, thats like going to the pub and not having a drink.
  5. That's the ups n downs of racing, a great leveller.
  6. Very interesting stats, and with the big sales coming up, just how much of a bearing this will have. Will have to see how many he has in. Any predictions.
  7. Think it was reefton.
  8. The three were nite owl whimpy and keff, the year 1957.
  9. At 31 years of age, they may leave him there.
  10. Forgot to remember, funny name for a horse, I do remember some years ago a lady told me I had the biggest appendage she had ever seen, I said, ya pulling my leg.
  11. Hopefully all the anti racing protesters can see this.
  12. Not to sure may have been 50s or there abouts, got an old race book somewhere with the picture of it on the front cover, one of the horses was called whimpy and the other knight owl, can't remember the third one, as a avid collector of old race books, I find them so interesting to look back on, did throw some of the 80s and 90s out when I was shifting, oh boy have I really regretted that, just looking at one now amberley gallops, may 1954, a great year,
  13. I see what your doing, trying to pull the wool over our eyes, I won't bleat on about it.
  14. Think that one in the red is Humphrey. Sure or it.
  15. Not sure if it was still going when wilmas mate won it, it would have been the revised bonus, think Westport the first ever club in the world to record a triple dead heat, club received a thousand pounds in those days, brodie will know all about it, may have been there.
  16. The tough nut springs to mind from memory, a wee bit later on, and may be the odd trotter, from Paul narin stable later on or got close.
  17. I think a horse called wilber win may have got the bonus, some years ago, may have been trained near kumara, I'm sure it was 20k back in the day, been some handy types win it over the years.
  18. What a joke this should never happen, if it was me, I think that would be the finish.
  19. What a great bunch off trotters, certainly jogs my memory from years back, and the old grey course apparently is just a mess now, if I remember correctly the wanted to double the lease, which the club couldn't afford, a shame, not sure why they didn't shift to the grass at omoto, was a nice wee course.
  20. The good old days, when they also had a open class trot over the coast at greymouth.
  21. A mate has a wee interest in him so follow him closely, last start was 4 wide out the straight 3 wide down the side and had the leader on the rest of the race, a barnes special that ride, to be honest to finish within 9 lengths from the winner was a good run, that day, win yesterday not unexpected, but the margin was, the handicapper be on to him for winning out of his grade. Cheers for the stats , quite interesting.
  22. Don't quite believe that 1.06, seem just to fast on what looked like a dead track, certainly was great racing there yesterday, with those tight finishes, and top showings from the south, I need some practice on the new tab site.My bets never went on and that was the only sour note of the day. Will have to check them all next time.
  23. Mogul again, ran very well on Friday.
  24. Yeah, I thought I'd done it right, glad in one way Dee n gee didn't win, was around 80s fixed, but very frustrating, how many times do you have to push except button. Also missed out on the gore cup winner to, never any hassle with old site.
  25. Nice win today after rough ride last start, ran away from them, 52kg and a soft track helped.
