  1. Very frustrating with poor drives, rides, mate had one in at the gallops, draw outside gate over 2200m, 4 wide past the winning post, 3 wide round back outside the leader, then had the leader on until the straight, they opted for a senior rider over a claimer, but don't think an apprentice could have done any worse,Safe to say you know where he finished, worse thing is they have a gut buster of a run and knocks the horse around, where of you drop back ride for luck, if your good enough will run home, if not you have a horse left for next time. Very frustrating.
  2. Backing up again today, backed some roughies first day,and will stick them through the whole circuit then Nelson blenheim, here are a few, fortune tiller, mogul, he's fast n furious, sonic reign, sods law, game changer, that Alexander guy. Can't say I'm confident, and usually just a donation, but you got to be in to win.Good luck everyone.
  3. You got to back up the second day.
  4. Fast n furious, u beauty, parked the trip and still stuck on for third, so second leg good run, hope you got on, and back up the second day.
  5. Looked at fortune tiller for a roughly, and franco Hatton, both got poor draws, any of you fellas heading over to the meeting.
  6. Certainly a time for reflections, we all have our gripes and moans, but we must celebrate the day and be thankful to make another xmas, there are many who suffer tragedy at this time of the year, spare a thought for them, to all the dedicated owners and trainers, who work tirelessly to supply the talent for our enjoyment , many thanks and good luck for the holiday racing., also to all the punters out there, and those responsible for the new site, merry xmas everyone and keep safe.
  7. Had a look at the fixed market for Westport, abit light I thought, unlike Santa's sack, but never mind they will be empty tomorrow.Good luck to all for the big day tomorrow, and hope you all can get on to a winner or two, over the festive period.
  8. That's what the lepper said to the prostitute, keep the tip.
  9. Just doing them now, took a while for them to draw some figures out of the hat, just like the Irish magician who couldn't pull a rabbit out of a hat, so he pulled a hare out of his arse, a lottery at that meeting.

  11. Very good, a forgotten hero of the early days, won races in America over fifty I think from memory, 263 lifetime starts, flew over there with a good galloper called up n coming, and a kangaroo, had to make a diversion on the flight as the galloper give a lot of grief on the flight, a long time ago, was owned and trained in Westport.
  12. One of the top trotters of his era trained on that track, not to many that win 2 dominion handicaps, I will be backing hes fast and furious, be a chance with a good draw, placed at Reefton last year at healthy odds, bit unlucky I thought, anything can win over there and it's easy to end up with egg on your face. Never condemn a horse till it's dead, a wise man told me once.
  13. No gallops on that track, last meeting in 1996 from memory.
  14. Cheers dougie, had a wee peek earlier at that majestic action, very well bred to, and trainer goes good over there.
  15. Just seen the fields for the grass track meeting at Westport, as usual, look harder to pick than a broken nose, any tipster out there game to give out a few tips at value, be keen to here of any.

I got called two dicks once, asked as to why, the reply was, you couldn't get that silly pulling one.
  17. Got given a pair of shoes from a dealer next door, don't know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day.
  18. Have to agree on that one, followed his team in the early days and eventually gave up after one of them changed stables and won 3 straight away, after I felt like I had bought it,, think j cox trained it, oh and rainy river, by the time he started winning races I was worn out and lighter for the experience, good on him now seems to have some tidy horses. The big dividends always got my attention in the early days.
  19. Missed out on tin roof blues, thought it was an ok bet bar the draw, seen it in but forgot to even watch the race. That's horses for you.
  20. Think they turn a blind eye on that one, not to mention the copious amounts of 1080 they drop, which apparently doesn't kills birds, but no problems with possums, pets and even maybe a few cows, by means of a cruel agonizing slow death. All a bit hypocritical for me.
  21. Wonder if he will get wind of it.
  22. Cheers for the heads up, got about 49 races on it, if I want to get them all average ones included be up for about 500 bucks I guess, is the quality just as good.
  23. Sounds familiar, all replays on mysky, will have to get the official nztr replays at some stage, but be a few of them had a heap of 2nds as well, all the cost starts to add up I guess.
  24. Certainly not cheap, started out with 2 mediums, think the next ones be small ones, are about 4 behind at present.
  25. First horse i had an interest in won 6 races, the thrill of each win for me is an unbelievable feeling, the amount of times you watch the replays and relive the moment, I've lost count, then the winning photos for the wall are a great pleasure, especially to replace those old wedding day photos, agree with mooncoins, statement, how very true, nothing a given in this game, and I will take my success to the grave, an feel I've been very fortunate, even if I don't get any success with the next one.
