  1. Is all this really surprising, many on both sites have commented on poor drives, alleged tactics, for a long time, nothing ever done or reported, some shunned by others posters, sometimes we put these top professional athletes on a pedestal, but at the end of they day they are only human. Guess it will all come out in the wash, whoever, whatever has gone on.
  2. I will be there, if you go down, you go down swinging, I for one won't be going to Kumara, even if it's the last one standing, to be honest the facilities the worst on the coast in my opinion, pity they don't have a running rail on the Westport track, after they had cyclone and a metre of saltwater through the place, they still had the trots 6 weeks later.
  3. Yep yr right, memory not as good these days
  4. Shame the don't have gallops there, remember a grey horse by light spirits win its first race on that track, was one of the best winners I've seen at that venue, modena, went on to win quite a few races, and raced in top company. Roydon berguson trained I think, also last cup winner by light spirits elad nova. Sorry to go off the topic, but tripping down memory lane, again.
  5. I backed that horse, 60s fixed, always rely on Mr fuge to get a winner on the circuit, key is to back them through the whole circuit.
  6. Last meeting there was 1996, they tried many dates over the years, all to no avail, by far the best track on the coast as far as going drainage and a sandy base, did have the last two races abandoned many years ago, then a nice horse called mutual belle came out straight after and done an exhibition gallop with no issues, may have been ridden by Jackie Jamison, was a long time ago, so stand to be corrected on the rider, Kumara would be the worst track to keep, pity they had fiddled with it some years ago, never had any abandonments before the upgrade, weather it was fine for a month or rain, it never changed, was like a soft sponge. Westport trots are very successful, but like the galloping club they struggle outside of those Xmas dates, the March meeting taken up from greymouth trots, but I think they struggle with that meeting, in my opinion reefton track the next best, but nothing wrong with greymouth or hokitika.
  7. Be nice to see them compulsory on every track, these days on some courses they go out the birdcage straight to the barrier, and if the gates are not along past the stands they take the short route, all you see is the arse end going in the opposite direction, know matter where the barriers are, all punters deserve to see a preliminary, no excuse for this, and someone not doing their job, been going on for a long time on some courses.
  8. Agree, pay your money and take your chance, that's why it's called gambling.
  9. Had a friend who had one of those blow up dolls, took it back to the manufacturer, told them it kept going down on him, the manufacturer said if i knew that i would have charged you double.
  10. How could we forget the greyhound puma pants that's a classic I reckon.
  11. Was a greyhound in Australia called chee zee Helmut, that's a curly one.
  12. Crickey I don't think I would want to be whipped like that, even if I had my leather undies on.
  13. Thanks weasel, he went a good race running on from the back, on a day where not many did, bit of a front running bias today ,looking at the program, not much around for him, so a freshen up maybe on the cards.
  14. Like to think so, but the puggy track and the wide draw may trip him up, need plenty of luck I think, seems to go forward in his races so a candidate to get posted from the draw, backed him one day when the magic man was on, posted 3 and 4 wide the trip carrying 59kg beaten before the turn, came out a week later with Jacob Lowry and won.Word is he likes a sloppy track. But he is as honest as they come.

    1984 NZ Derby

They don't make them like they used to.
  16. Yep, reefton always good, can't beat the tearooms.
  17. All good, see he went a good race fresh up in open class at Ashburton, the 58kg to much weight last start, good honest type.
  18. Seen the invercargill winner by tavistock back in February sat 3 wide the whole 2100m trip and won by a nose, gutsy effort that's for sure. Not to many horses can do that, he was a 6yo.
  19. So you won't be backing up on the second day, I hoped to get there Wednesday, but alas the work thing got in the way, never a cheap outing, having a horse will get you in for free, but we all know that's not cheap either, will be watching on with interest and keeping my fingers crossed.
  20. Very sad, I too was looking forward to seeing zac race in Australia, certainly didn't see that coming and really feel for the connections of both horses , certainly nothing a given in this game, celebrate the success, and also those times when your charge returns unscathed
  21. That horse related to gingernuts, anyone herd how he is doing.
  22. Lets hope he can kick some winners home at oamaru today.
  23. Very well deserved, and congratulations to him.
  24. Always wondered why greymouth never raced at omoto, after the end of there all weather track racing.
  25. Lets hope he is on song at oamaru on sunday, my bets on the hotdog caravan, that smell gets me every time.
