  1. Thanks weasel, he went a good race running on from the back, on a day where not many did, bit of a front running bias today ,looking at the program, not much around for him, so a freshen up maybe on the cards.
  2. Like to think so, but the puggy track and the wide draw may trip him up, need plenty of luck I think, seems to go forward in his races so a candidate to get posted from the draw, backed him one day when the magic man was on, posted 3 and 4 wide the trip carrying 59kg beaten before the turn, came out a week later with Jacob Lowry and won.Word is he likes a sloppy track. But he is as honest as they come.

    1984 NZ Derby

They don't make them like they used to.
  4. Yep, reefton always good, can't beat the tearooms.
  5. All good, see he went a good race fresh up in open class at Ashburton, the 58kg to much weight last start, good honest type.
  6. Seen the invercargill winner by tavistock back in February sat 3 wide the whole 2100m trip and won by a nose, gutsy effort that's for sure. Not to many horses can do that, he was a 6yo.
  7. So you won't be backing up on the second day, I hoped to get there Wednesday, but alas the work thing got in the way, never a cheap outing, having a horse will get you in for free, but we all know that's not cheap either, will be watching on with interest and keeping my fingers crossed.
  8. Very sad, I too was looking forward to seeing zac race in Australia, certainly didn't see that coming and really feel for the connections of both horses , certainly nothing a given in this game, celebrate the success, and also those times when your charge returns unscathed
  9. That horse related to gingernuts, anyone herd how he is doing.
  10. Lets hope he can kick some winners home at oamaru today.
  11. Very well deserved, and congratulations to him.
  12. Always wondered why greymouth never raced at omoto, after the end of there all weather track racing.
  13. Lets hope he is on song at oamaru on sunday, my bets on the hotdog caravan, that smell gets me every time.
  14. Basil dean one of my favs, and for exciting wins, no response was awesome to watch, with his late withering bursts. Those were the days, were some very special horses from that era
  15. I can remember that, you told me the red card was on the way, was after a funny picture you posted,.
  16. They are treated rather harsh by the judiciary at times, they must remember they are only learning and will make mistakes. Sometimes there fines are hefty enough to chase a few away.
  17. Many of these I have forgotten, but Canterbury belle was a top preformed.
  18. They certainly were very good trainers of that era, and always had some nice horses, and the two top ones you named, I think they had one called redback and also the snob who I will always remember, as I got my first trifecta with him, straight line was also a very good horse they had, a trip down memory lane, they were good days.
  19. You have all forgotten the best horse from the coast, Durban chief, 3 dominion handicaps, 16 wins I think in nz, and another 32 in America, first nz horse to win first up over there, was bred by the Craddocks and flew to America with a galloper call up n coming, who done his prunes on the flight and they had to have a emergency stop in Hawaii, not many win 3 dominions, what a top horse he was, and you won't see another of his caliber from over there. A forgotten legend. Anyone remember him.
  20. Most are sit and Sprint these days, a shame if you have a out n out stayed, and not to many of them these days.
  21. The ups and downs of racing, makes those wins very special.
  22. Had a mate that thought he had swine flu, he rung the 0800 hotline, but all he got was crackling.
  23. Known these days as my carona's.
  24. Only 8 viewers at mine, us and 6 friends, all i could muster, can't beat the old registery job, quick n cheap, only way to go, has lasted 24 years so far, they say you only get 10 years for murder, im in to my third sentence. Its was that or nothing, lucky she was so understanding.
  25. To painful to sit through that, hard enough hearing about for a long time, glad its over.
