  1. I like the standing starts bad or not I do not care.
  2. Letting that same punter give some back.
  3. They tip half the field and when one wins they claim it like it was the only one they talked about. Funny thing is if you mention half the field and still can not get the winner that shows how good you really are.
  4. McGrath cannot hold a trainer’s or driver’s licence and he cannot act as a stable representative or make official decisions on behalf of a training operation. He is allowed to be at a licenced person’s property, but cannot be involved in the training of any horse. If he is at a licenced person’s property and happens to say that horse looks a bit fat you should increase it's work, would he be breaking the rules? Can he touch a horse? Is he wearing a wire? This is impossible to enforce.
  5. In the case of boys get paid I think Entain are using this as a marketing ploy rather than letting them win an obscene amount of money. If they started winning regularly then pretty sure the bets would dry up. Being known to the business, betting big and winning regularly is a sure fire way to get cut off immediately.
  6. Absolutely! If this punter has been known to lose big bets in the past then they would be welcomed to place big bets with open arms. It would depend on a few things. Amount of liability in the pool on other runners. The success rate of the punters previous bets. If the punter was an owner of the horse they would be afforded some special treatment and also a few % over the figure quoted, so they might get 3.50 instead of 3.20 as an example depending on a few things like if they were already in an élite program with Entain. The TAB loss could have been higher than 80K if this was the case.
  7. A before and after. He might not have aged well. Nigel before the trial and what he might look like now after 4 years of worry, embarrassment and stress.
  8. Yes feels like it has dragged on for ages. Probably felt like decades for McGrath
  9. Pretty easy to work out who placed the bet
  10. Normally three because a gallops one always gets abandoned nine times out of ten lol
  11. Yes Arcee Phoenix has mainly raced over sprints but did break the New Zealand record over 2200m on a slushy track beating Bet N Win when he won here in what I though was a good staying run, but 3157m might be too far. Bet N Win proven over the distance but I think the final might come down to draws on that track so a real guess at this early stage.
  12. Fate Awaits probably, and Leap To Fame definite yes but hard to see how they will beat Bet N Win or Arcee Phoenox on a leaders track in the trotters final
  13. John Dunn has driven it now 6 times for three wins and three good runs from terrible draws I remember an interview with Lionel Dobbs after the first of the Dunn wins where he said it was going too well for me to drive it so I thought I better put John on. I backed it on the premise he might be doing the same again. If the bookies were any good they would have had it sub 10.00 on opening just in case. The driver change alone without the background info should have made it sub 15.00 on opening.
  14. Ben from Betcha on TV today. "We may have missed the driver change on Betterthandiva when pricing this market." FFS no wonder they are so easy to beat if they can not even notice a driver change on a runner. And yes the $31 was delicious. Keep them coming.
  15. To lift turnover further we will now be racing everyday of the week. There will possibly only be four and five horse fields but at least the turnover is up lol
  16. Unfortunately that's what the restrictions have become. If you look likely there might be a chance you are possibly able to make money in anyway shape or form in Australia they will cut you off. It was only a matter of time before that happened here as well.
  17. It honestly feels like they're going out of their way now to swing the pendulum in the complete opposite direction to your hopes there Brodie. Instead of addressing your core issue (fairness and ethical), they're doubling down on selective treatment, almost as if to make a point.
  18. I think the departure is related to Entain facing hundreds of millions of dollars in fines for alleged breaches of Australian anti-money laundering laws between 2018 and last year. Either pushed or getting out before the shit hits the fan.
  19. Dean Shannon is leaving Entain. Would you be leaving on your own accord if the company was in good shape and on the right path? https://harnesslink.com/australia/dean-shannon-steps-down-as-entain-australia-boss/
  20. I remember Salish Abernethy telling Michael Guerin that he didn't do TV interviews one night after winning a big race at Auckland. Guerin came on TV and said it was unprofessional and he looked a bit put off by it all.
  21. I disagree! The last few years have been some of my best ever for profit, due mainly to poor pricing by the bookies. Lets hope it continues.
  22. Ever notice how racing presenters will rattle off comments about half the field before a race? Then when one of those seven wins, suddenly it was a “great pick” and they talk it up like it was nailed from the jump. Made for TV, just a wide net cast so they can claim success no matter what happens. It’s especially entertaining when a horse they didn’t mention storms home. You can almost see the panic set in. Cue the scrambling and excuses… Whale is the classic example. He’ll have a full post-race script ready for the ones he tipped — but nothing prepared for the actual winner. It’s great theatre, but let’s not pretend it’s great tipping.
  23. There must be a close relationship between Entain and HRNZ especially regarding the calendar, for aligning with TV programming etc. I would think Entain would be advising best times dates for certain meetings. As to the stakes HRNZ should be administering that side of it but it looks like slot races and pouring money into a few bigger races is taking priority over anything else.
  24. Well you do have an ex Entain employee planted right up there as head of Racing and Wagering so maybe they are.
