  1. Mmm thats a bit dodgy no? Why not come off his back on the corner? Maybe they had the forecast?
  2. I'm getting a nose bleed...No, at the 800 he needed a game plan, that's when the brain engages the gears.....he got off the fence...10 out of 10.....he should have then worked out, right now I need to look at the opportunity to either push and shove...he was going that well, or, ease across the hanging horse and get to the outside.....0 out of 10......Newmarket is on the money, the horse should have nearly won......That's it I'm done, going for a surf and then to the unvaccinated friendly pub....shhhhh, it's a secret, Anaconda would have a fit if she knew......
  3. That's what I've been saying.....he should have swung across heels......Bowman is a wrecker, a careless dil that has caused the demise of man and beast, on that we agree!
  4. Go back to the 800. You have to start making your mind up what you're going to do well before the corner, you need a plan B, as I said, in hindsight Innes would probably agree, although Jockeys seldom own up to mistake, he was travelling so well he should have had the plan to ease across heels as soon as possible, I've given heaps of jocks a spray, and praised them when they've got beat too if it was a good ride, but again, he should have run a place at least with an uninterrupted run down the outside.
  5. Have a look also at the ride on Princess Lowry, a 1 start filly being asked to run in a Gr2 by Rogie and ran the race of her life. When was the last time you saw a filly slaughtered like that and run 3rd in a Gr2 thank you very much. Young Elliot has the excuse of youth, but the standard of riding in New Zealand is deplorable, or do you disagree with that Chief.
  6. Thank Christ I didn't have to ride alongside you when I was skinny and had a licence.
  7. We pay them to think, that's beyond Innes, he knew he was travelling better than Sheriff, or he should have and once he got off the fence should have looked to either nudge him out of the way or come across his heels, either way he's cost the connections plenty and if that horse was mine, he wouldn't get within cooee of him next time.....so there, nah nah nah.
  8. Doesn't matter what Ellis writes into his contract Chief, if it's not sanctioned by the racing bodies it's not worth the paper its written on.......now if he wants to pay Richards his 10% that's his business, if he wants to call Richards his Jefe de Casa, or Chef de Cabine, or any other name for head honcho, boss cocky, then good on him, but lets see what HKJC have to say......I bet they choked on their congee when they read that.
  9. Why he didn't ease across Sheriff's heels at the top of the stretch is beyond me, at least that way you leave nothing to chance. The way he was travelling he would have been right in it........just a bad ride Newmarket, the first of many today......stay tuned.
  10. We have a young lady calling the dogs in MEL at the moment, she is dreadful, I'm not sexist or a misogynist just discerning. They do some crazy shit in VIC, gender equality must be the reasoning for this, we all know the Dishlicker people are a chromosome short however they'd be better off exhuming Bill Collins to call Healesville than allow this to continue.
  11. Is it any different you asked me? Yes it is, Waller appoints forepersons, and in turn they have to be anointed as ''assistant trainer''.....therefore they then come under the same rules and directions that the stewards and rules of racing preside over. If a horse on the coast goes positive, Waller cops the fine, or disqualification....God forbid. If Jamie's father blew positive in SYD/MEL/BNE the sane applies, they both go.........HK wont stand for that, it sets a precedent and HKJC will never ever do that.......
  12. With respect Peanut, that wont be happening, we all know the cartel runs racing, however, they [Petone] would need to re-write the rules of racing and HKJC wont allow it as it comprises them also. God forbid TA returned a positive in NZ, then HK would need to suspend him immediately. If 'bought by Dave' thinks that, he's imbibed too much Christmas Day.
  13. They tell me Justin has applied to NZTR for a commentators position Tim, by gee you're in trouble now.
  14. I agree in part Tim, however, they are well paid and accountable, or are they? It appears not, jocks get called out for a bad ride/s and in some cases get time for a bad ride, these two blokes are making too many mistakes and yet seem ambivalent. There are some young talented callers waiting for an opportunity, and as I'm an aged fella, I'm not being ageist when I say, we need younger callers coming through, by denying them we are costing the industry, at the very least these fellows should be job sharing, so those young callers aren't lost forever......Tony and George aren't anywhere good enough now, I stand by what I said, stand down and give a young un a go......and I'm older than both George and Tony.
  15. Back at you Freda, in buckets! Thank you for your incisive and educated musings on here, I'm sure Chief would agree, we'd be lost without you. All the best Christmas wishes to everyone. Stay safe, God knows we need you.
  16. The greatest [IMO] of all time was the incredible Joe Brown, I've lived in Oz for nearly 50 years and when I got here Joe was acknowledged as the best, he was, Bill Collins [The accurate one] was emerging and Joe was in his twilight years, those of you old enough to remember his calls from across the ditch might recall the hairs on the back of your neck standing up and feeling for your tab tickets. Race calling must be unforgiving, they can't undo a bad call, or going the early crow, however NZTR should have looked after their up and coming callers like Tom Wood and Jason Teaz, our young callers like Luke Marlow, Mitch Manners and Josh Fleming were nurtured [read I said nurtured NOT neutered] they have long successful careers ahead, fossils belong in the museums, not perched 20 metres above the ground opposite the winning post.
  17. Absolutely, another who didn't get the plaudits but was reliable and accurate was Alan Bright.....remember him?
  18. You jest, one needs Specsavers, the other prozac.......
  19. Our equivalent is Rick MacIntosh, someone must have told him to be witty and scream, Meg Ryan did it well, this goose sounds like a pre-pubescent on the Ghost train, and as for wit? Bert Bryant would have him on toast, Mark Mac was an absolute talent, he should have been given the keys to Chch, and Bernies salary to stay, trots, gallops, dogs, he could call a cockroach derby and make it cool.
  20. A Royal Commission into racing and it's administrators would be too small a task, a combination of total incompetence, stupidity, arrogance and some very clever fiscal manipulation [re; how on earth can you trade while insolvent] have taken the industry to where it is today. The people responsible for this malaise are too numerous to mention, we all know the scandal cover-up, there's been more than one, the people appointed to positions well above their pay grades, and the compliance of a Government that has no-one at all onboard with any industry nouse whatsoever, if it wasn't so sad, wasn't so serious, it would be comical, a skit from Monty Python, or a series like Seinfeld, I'm happy at my age to remember it the way it was, those halcyon years with super horses, trainers and jockeys and super crowds on super race days......and lovely racecourses with hot tasty and affordable pies and super cold beer, plus...... soles of grass the envy of many.
  21. Hey Chief, have you read Pete's/Brenden's headline today? Re the rumour a major NZ stable with barns in both Islands has a positive to EPO? How does he know that? Is he making it up? Will he be sued? Whats next?
  22. Gee I'm 3,000km away Huey and when the leader paddled you could see [IMO] the fav going two to it's one.......
  23. The 2yo at NP today has to be the sign off for one T Lee, if that's not the worst call ever, everyman and his dog could tell the fav was going to pick the leader up, but not Tony. He's like the rest at Petone, past their use by date. A good caller once, not now.
  24. Just like the NZDHB, how many Kiwi's have lost their lives due to incompetence at that level?
  25. Fuck, I'd love to be there, Queen Jack and Queen Anna won't let me though, and it's too far to kite surf, but there in spirit!
