All this shows what a flawed species we are, we have a neighbouring family split in half, the husband is totally in favour of 100% VAX for him and the kids, his wife is adamant it wont be happening. The result, she's taken the children and moved out.....I've always found him a decent reasonable human being, but he's turned feral over this vaccination plague.....there must be thousands of divided families, this is a very fragile world.

The only bloke that could turn it around was last seen dressed in white rags and dragging a white cross across his left shoulder surrounded by people that go to church on Saturdays so couldn't get to the races......! -

Well if you watch carefully all jockeys nowadays ride 3 holes or more higher than we did, even if they wear hooks the horses wouldn't be feeling much as they kick the number cloth! We could actually tickle their ribs, and it wasn't a kick Chief, it's a rake, we used to push and shove, cajole but let me tell you those great jocks I mentioned got the very best out of their horses without the slathering. We get back to the old discussion however, these kids nowadays turn for home and immediately go for the whip, many unbalance the horse and many look just plain terrible, so, who's teaching them, IMO you're not born with a race brain, you get that from watching and learning better riders than yourself, and a great education system [apprentice school] sadly it's missing in NZ, NOT HERE, so part of the blame lays with Petone. Why am I so savage on Petone you may ask? well most of you wont, but for the dis-believers, it all starts and finishes with Petone, poor leadership and the failure to identify and address so many issues....enough said. -

If I've said this before, please excuse an old waffler', however, Roy Higgins [the greatest jockey to ever live, and my business partner in the late 80's ] said to me once, I didn't want to hit them if they were in front, and I tried to live to that edict', Roy reasoned that, if they had got to the front they were giving their best, he added though, every now and again you'd get on a colt that had a tendency to bludge and needed a reminder, but not a thrashing, unlike Mick Dittman the persuader. He and one MR Campbell were the strongest whip riders I saw, with J Cassidy and Roger Lang being the best hands and heels exponents. If you get the opportunity to watch Perth jockey Lucy Warwick ride, she also is super at the hands and heels caper, Lucy was a champion apprentice who doesn't get the rides she deserves nowadays, but boy when she kicks them, they say kicked. -

George Simon has challenged Tony for the 'faux Pas de rigueur' awards, and Tony was a shoe in. George produced the classic blame shift at Tauranga the other day......bad angle .......when calling the wrong horse the winner. And to think you have great talent doing something else, if they want to grow racing the race callers would be a great place to start, a new broom, they lost Jason Teaz and Tom Wood, for Gods sake get them back, put George and Tony on a cruise ship and let them sail off supping tequila's and reminiscing about the good old days, and they were.

All over rover.........the waiting time to get your horse worked will now be untenable, all well and good in theory, practically, well nigh near impossible. Having lived and worked in South Africa and seeing their jockeys academy at Summerveld I mooted a carbon copy for NZ.......I did this 10 years ago, their academy model is a world beater, it pumped out so many good riders, and this flowed onto the Zulu/Xhosa/Shangaan/etc who ride the majority of the work at South Africa's major training centre. The brain donors at NZTR didn't listen, a building that is now pumping out propaganda and such rubbish to make it look like they know what they are doing, being reactive to the McKee affair, this will now most certainly spell the death of the smaller trainer, be very careful what you wish for Petone, it will come back to bite you on the arse. -
That last winner shot 3 in front, looked like he hit a swamp at the 200.......the winner and the peloton out in the middle, what was J Parkes thinking? Did my dough .........bugger.
