  4. TC, I left Deacs in 72, Ronnie was a fresh faced little kid, a gopher, like all kids we gave him hell, he could hardly sit on then, of course Ginner's stables were way up over the rail crossing, and so we didn't see a lot of that mob other than at track work, more McEwans, but by gee Hawera was a powerhouse then.....happy days.
  5. When the Sydney Turf Club was in full swing [prior to the merge with AJC] they would offer half price membership if you joined after Dec 24th........the take up was terrific........but we are talking about a club that was loaded with dynamic, inventive successful people, something the CJC are devoid of, and the fail meister is of course.....the boss.......he seems to have tenure of employment, can someone explain to me....why is that so?
  6. Lucky they're not in NZ, wow, could be looking at life, those super cops install fear into everyone do they not?

  8. The NSW stewards are on another planet compared to the so called VIC mob, they seldom fail to get their man.........Tommy lost me a while back, in this case I'm cheering for the police.

  10. Ahh that old well used word springs to mind, cartel, not the Escobar type, but a cartel all the same, the result will be the same, thousands of innocent buggers hurt badly, in fact many are already hurting badly........fucking sad all this ain't it?
  11. All the Vela sycophants will be having apoplexy if they are reading this thread, there could be a call out for defibrillators, you lot should be ashamed of yourselves......
  12. What a bloody shame there is no gaol time for incompetence, stupidity, malfeasance and ambivalence. If there was, I know a place that would cough up plenty of candidates, so do you.
  13. Now listen NM, I know you're older than Gods dog, however, NZ Racing needs people like you, Doomed, Reefton and Freda who could be the trainers voice.....yes there are more 'high profile' trainers than Freda, but they can't be trusted as history has proved, already on here the input from you lot proves one thing.....there is the intelligence out there alongside racing knowledge, that is whats needed. If Petone makes the call, you guys gotta go up there, they need help, a lot of it too, if they are honest they'll admit that, if so do the right thing team.....go help em........#yougotwhatittakes
  14. That old saying, ''Prevention is better than cure'' is so poignant in this instance is it not? A good tailor cuts his cloth accordingly, a good tailor that is, to implement change for the better you have to have people capable, sadly as history has proven NZTR and TAB do not have those people, they fail upwards in NZ, one of the few countries on the planet where that is possible. The Aussies and the Pom have contributed greatly to the malaise known as NZ racing, you know who they are, the buck stops with the Kiwi or Kiwi's that appointed those losers though and the ONLY way things will get better is root and branch reform. I say that ad nauseam yes I admit that, but IMO it's the only way forward, to do that you need people with vision, skin in the game but not private agendas like those that have gone before them.....if the national team in any sport keeps getting beaten, you change the coach, NRL/NFL/AFL/NZRU it shouldn't be any different and in most cases it's not, EPL is the strongest pointer, would they put up with terrible failing coaches? No way Jose. Unfortunately a lot of us could see this coming, we chatted about it on here and privately, what a shame NZTR didn't/doesn't call for a national moratorium and take suggestions from the floor and in private, there are some wise heads out there, some even still care ....a bit......are you listening Petone. Cheers Joe.
  15. Will there be voluntary redundancies per chance?........voluntary pay cuts?.......this is what happens in most business's, it happened to ours back in the 80's crash, what has changed?.........just got greedier me thinks. Something stinks to high heaven, incompetence springs to mind.
  16. What a total fucking joke, Sharrock is the ringmaster of a 5* circus, it's been a sideshow for quite a while, laughing clowns, dodgems, roller coaster, all that and more, now RACE and the rest of NZTR have morphed into a 3 ring 5* circus, the VILE fiasco/tragedy and the AWT dodgem circuit, and the worst course proper south of the equator, can't count Riccarton as that's north of the South Pole.....so,.....roll up, roll up buy your tickets here, acts never seen before...blah blah, you know how it goes, you guys are living it.
  17. That useless BS was championed by C Wood, therein lays your problem, the disaffected north dictating to the seriously effected south, the mindset of of the north is seriously questionable, the CD don't have a mindset or a brain to bless themselves with, look at the Awapuni debacle as an example and the SI is now the poor relation, reading BDL this morning it's the same old same old, moving to Cambridge eh? lock stock and barrel, and the associated costs eh? if this wasn't so tragic and sick it would be an ongoing Monty Python skit....... Sadly the NZ I once knew is gone, a great place, a little boring, but generally a great place to bring up your kids and enjoy world class sports, racing included, this government has it's faults, but they can't be blamed for racings demise and we need someone to blame, so maybe ourselves, the ''consultants' to the Gov, to Winston even, who were they again? people with private agendas perhaps? coat tuggers, urgers, mainly misinformed and misguided laymen, who either unknowingly or worse, knowingly assisted our industry to become a ''corner store'' rather than the department store it once was. To save the SI it will take militant action, if any owner doesn't back their trainer in that, then they should FUCK OFF........ Thank you. Joe.
  18. All those that have faith in Petone or McAnulty are insane.
  19. It didn't work in Toowoomba, and the Geelong track was a complete joke long before they decided to sack the track, the Poly on the Sunny coast mainly has small fields and mostly locals, VIC has built-up a collective of horses that suit the track, so Ballarat will survive as will Packingthemin, cos the locals need somewhere to race their 'scrubbers'........sorry to use that adjective, but sad to say most are, it's ok as a training track unless you let their heads go, then you have your share of problems. The Goldie is in the process of dropping in their synthetic, for training and wet weather transfers, the Goldie is becoming a big training centre with lots of new trainers, mostly 20 somethings desperate to start their careers and unable to get on E Farm and Doomben owing to the Boy's Club that QLD has alway been.......one day we might get a royal commission into RQ and the corruption, BRC have a lot to answer for also, but hey, no one likes a whistle blower and the sun shines and the surf runs most days so we make the most of it. I must say though, we had need to contact our local MP over certain issues with RQ and their horse welfare fiasco, to the credit of everyone, once the opposition racing minister got involved a huge improvement evolved. Lets see what type of conversation we are having over the AWT down in Chch this time next year eh? might be very interesting, if a weeks a long time in racing, then a years....?????
  20. Ahh, but how many Prime Ministers got the job due to that mantra?........I say he needs to go and quickly, surely there is some brave soul with passion and vision?....oh that's right 'they' all moved over here.
  21. And yet Mills is still there? That beggars the question .....why?..........don't like the Government? then just wait until the next election and exercise the democratic right, it's as plain as the nose on your face, he should not be there, if he had any cred he should resign, it must carry some real hutzpah being boss of CJC, ......#romefiddlenero
  22. You know Doomed, in a brave new world the SI should say ''Fuck Petone'' and start their own breakaway racing association and compliance org....... Petone will say OK, you are sanctioned, so what? there are enough jocks to say ''fuck Petone too'........the publicity would be enough to actually ''fuck Petone''..........but there has to be a will........a strong will...........surely there is strong parochialism down there? the Government whoever it would be would need to step up then and you just might end up with a level playing field, however it would take strong militant action to achieve that. What's happened to SI racing is a travesty, sadly apathy has had a lot to do with that, once, in it's heyday it was as strong as the NI...... The kowtowing to Petone is gut wrenching and defeatist, if they went it alone would the Gov disqualify the TAB from betting on SI racing? Maybe, but that itself brings probable legal action, restriction of trade mainly, would Trackside drop coverage? That could be overcome with closed circuit Youtube and associated outlets....... Lets face it, Kerry Packer told ACB to fuck off and started World Series Cricket, it went gangbusters, Rupert Murdoch started Super League after telling the NRL to fuck off, it worked, well it brought the NRL to the table and now look how strong the NRL is.....anything is possible, don't tell me it's not, you are only limited by your budget and your imagination, I'll keep saying that over and over.......but curling up like a mongrel dog copping a kicking is not working is it? How many more youngsters from the SI will walk away, how long until there is no-one left to care? ..........bring it on, would love to see a breakaway racing league in the South, bring back the will, go on...I dare you?
  23. Now that's bloody sad, funny bugger, wicked sense of humour......another nice person missing.
  24. KITK, that's Nomates twin bro, separated at birth, Tommo's bald, it can't be him.......
  25. The pro-ride at Randwick is the go to, they even trial on it.........never see an AWT at HQ......God Forbid.......Not for racing.
