  1. Vinnie was fabulous . He drove like a maniac. was eternally happy with his horses ( but not with women sadly) and should of won that Auckland race. Poppy Shot 4 lengths clear 400m out and spent all his pennies. Had the race well won if he didn't think he could just win it by 6 lengths lol. he was pretty cranky about that Gammalite win. Leap To Fame and Lazarus race similar ? just too strong. You would of seen Lazarus gate speed. Was just normal ? but just sit outside them and win anyway. Dixon has well over 5000 race wins and no every inch of Albion , and driving the best horse in the world. No way could little Rakero Rebel hold him in with a 25 year old driver not as familiar with his horse and the track. poor bugger got left parked out for the trip too. she wasn't a hope anyway. What the race needed was some TEAM driving. Sanderson needed to attack before they were a lap out with Sure Thing Captain , and give the Stablemate Speak The Truth the last shot from the trail. A Small problem is that Larry is Full bore at the half mile every race anyway. and no-one can get near him from the front let alone the back of field 😂🤣 Larry Ran 26.5 both the last 2 quarters for a 53 second last half mile. you can't even win from the trailing position with leader going that fast. 😅 NZ Cup looks to be Aussie bound again .
  2. oh ok. thought you had him mixed up with young Jack for a minute. lol. Anyway Grant has barged off the fence in Both the heats of the Interdominon as well as this Grand Final. something that has been seen by LEAP TO FAME a few times. I think Grant is getting more 'Leeway' than other drivers get doing this early in the race. Luke McCarthy got KING of SWING off the one draw, in the Group 1 Blacks A Fake run this week 4 years ago, only to get the chop and Gallop fiercely to the back (courtesy of Anthony Butt) who got suspended. The horse leaving the fence causes issues. Nothing Herbie would do would keep Larry on the the fence??? . He was coming out No matter What Mr Galah. bloody oath you'd be grabbing up if you were Herbertson, with Larry coming out under your horse lol. Herbie did good to stay in the running line after, rather than get planted 3 deep. you just can't see it that way. Funny BOAY story is when Gammalite won at Auckland the horse bulldozed inwards after the start ( the complete opposite of Larry last night ) and Clarke cleaned up John Noble's horse on the second row into a fierce gallop. El Regale. This gained Gammalite the trail behind Poppy (Popular Alm) and the win at the Auckland Interdominion. driver got a suspension to spend some time holidaying with the winnings 💰 . John Noble left swearing for a week 😅
  3. Not Herbertson. It is the young driver Jack Chappell on Tims A Trooper who is on the Dixon payroll . so you got that bit wrong. Jack drew second row and could of been used to help Larry get off the inside , but wasn't needed. Rakero Rebel should of been in the Mares race Group 1 Golden Girl. This race was way out of her depth. You think Herbertson should try and hold Leap to Fame in ? lol 😂 No Point knocking your horse around like that 😅 saying the New Young Driver Champion of Australasia is poor tactically not great thing to do , but go for your life I spose. there's not much you can do to beat 'Larry the Powerhouse.
  4. Well I agree with most of what you say. Those races were TOO LONG at the 2 miles . The Aussie horses aren't good at it. never race it. Also LEAP TO FAME can come from anywhere, over any distance, doing any work. (Cambridge race prime example) and Merlin, and Republican Party, and Don't Stop Dreaming and Chase a Dream Didn't bother even turning up for New Zealand to exploit that fact. the very horses that could pressure him. Pinseeker ??? nah 🤣 So the race was boring and the 3 horses along the trailing positions behind Leap To Fame picked up tens of thousands of dollars in place money without having to do anything. In the TROT, Bob Butt did the same. Just dropped in to a trailing position behind Arcee Phoenix instead of taking him on. his horse BET N WIN is a 2 mile winner (Rowe Cup) but took the 'easy way out' and let the Aussie dictate and run away. Maybe needed John Dunn driving it ? he has a real dig in the Big races with trotters. So the Interdominion racing went Exactly as Most experts predicted. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it . I thought Gus could win it , But the poor bugger has to come from the back every time, and bloody London To A Brick just got in the road of him and Oscar B, so they lost their chance in the last lap. Gus and OscarB must of made up near 8 lengths on Bet N Win in the last lap, so still good merit in 3rd and 4th. Winner was too good drawn the One Alley. the winning trainer driver Chris Svanosio, and his young stable junior Taylor Youl who you wouldn't know, but she is high up on the Victoria driving table with a stack of wins , are TROTTER specialists , racing mainly them like Williamsons do in NZ.

  7. Without Merlin, or Republican Party or Chase A Dream or Don't Stop Dreaming to race against it was a Walk in the Park for LEAP TO FAME . He joins the Gammalite club of Dual Interdominion winners. Don Hugo couldn't get 2nd for my F4 ticket the rotten thing 🙄. took the No. 3 and No.4 both for 3rd and 4th lol $2,700 the first 4 paid too. 1st 1 LEAP TO FAME GRANT DIXON FT - - 1.20 1.04 2nd 3 SPEAK THE TRUTH NATHAN DAWSON FT - 5.40 3rd 4 CYA ART JOSHUA GALLAGHER FT 19.70 4th 6 DON HUGO LUKE MCCARTHY FT

  9. Great drive by Sanderson 🏆. RUBIRA Rated perfectly. to win well like that, when you have Luke McCarthy parked on your back. The Grand Master of the harness world Marky Boy (and helper son) WIN the Queensland Derby for New Zealand. Best Queensland horse FATE AWAITS a distant 3rd. Look out 'Marketplace' in November and December. !! RUBIRA might just blast his socks off in the Velocity Slot $1/2 mill then the NZ Derby . someone better tell Regan Todd to start jogging him up now 🤣. none of this hiding out for the Winter if he wants to Win those Big races in the Spring. or Mark will be back and come on over the top of him.
  10. The $150k Queensland Derby is up next. It's Grand Final night in Brisbane. RUBIRA of Mark and Nathan Purdon's drawn the outside barrier so is going to have to be driven well. The Queensland Oaks just raced and Grant Dixon and Nathan Williamson tried to work togeather to run the Quinella , taking the lead with Cool and Classy and the NZer sitting parked. CAPTAIN"S MISTRESS would probably of won it for New Zealand, if Grant gave it the lead over that longer trip. Just a bit tough on her sitting parked after working hard around the field from a second row draw at the start. Instead , Australia's Best horseman LUKE McCarthy out-drove them and roared up the passing lane to take Victory with SOHO AMericano for Michael Stanley.

Gamma has 13 points from the Tasmanian 2nd, Brodster battling 3rd gets 11 , Ranga 9 with Better Eclipse. POINTS UPDATE BOAY Interdominion Draft Championship The 2 Grand Finals Left to run . 12. She's only young mate . and doing ok . a friend of mine gets her to drive his horse at Redcliffe each week and shes won some on it for him. so we love her. Chloe also trains about 10 horses so works very hard. Jett Turnbull turned 18 years old yesterday. is doing fantastic in his second year driving. And Yes, Carter is WORLD quality, and showing it with his great training and driving results in New Zealand, and wouldn't hesitate in a heart beat to put him on my horse. Already a Auckland Cup winner and soon a NZ CUP ??? maybe.? if he can get Republican Party up to it. that would put him on the TOP tier with Marky Boy and that if he can do that .
  13. POINTS UPDATE BOAY Interdominion Draft Championship TAB4ever 103 points , Gamma 97 pts, Ranga 96 pts, The Galah 93 points, Chief Stipe 96 points, Brodster 88 points, Mikey 57 points First up in race 3 very soon, and trying to improve their Points are :- Brodster with NZer BEACH BALL , drawn 1 at $3.80 TABman with Jimartee (No.3 ) at $22.00 and Wispa A Secret (No.9) at $6.50 Mikey with Tango Tara (No.6) at $31.00 and I Break the Line (No.10) at $11.00 Gammalite with NYACK (No.11 ) the $3.60 favourite . Go the Tassie !!! 💰 bring home the bacon lol. Ranga has Better Eclipse in there too at $3.80 . should go well with Herbie on cloud nine.
  14. Grand Final Night . underway with Carter just missing out by a nose in Race 1. The track is lightning fast , as they ran 1.50.4 for mid class horses. A warm 20 degrees at the end of yet another glorious Brissie Sunny day. Good Luck to All the BOAY Participants in the Final legs of the BOAY Interdominion . First runners coming up soon in the Pacing Consolation Race 3. Hoping James Rattray can win next 2 races fingers crossed .
  15. Congratulations to James Herbertson for Victoria . this years winner of the Australasian Young drivers Championship title.🏆 Herbertson Finishing 4th in tonight's Final Heat. to take Championship Victory over the local lass Chloe Butler (who won the last heat at Albion Park Race 1 ) Was hoping Carter would win Final leg that for New Zealand as had a couple of bob on it but got done a nose on the line. He led them up in a scintillating 1.50.4 mile so was a good effort. Final Points were James Herbertson (Vic) 111 points, 1st Chloe Butler (QLD) 95 pts 2nd , Jett Turnbull (NSW) 77 pts 3rd. Carter Dalgety 4th on 66 pts , followed by the other 6 contestants
  16. This young bloke going quite well. Only in 2nd season and from a very famous family from Bathurst. Jett Turnbull has won 3 of the series races so going great Guns. here's a paste on him. The 17-year-old is flying the flag for his state in only his second full season of race driving and was successful aboard the Rickie Alchin-trained filly Hunger Strike in heat two of the Championship at Albion Park on Tuesday afternoon. The win brought up 100 wins in 2025 for Turnbull in the prestigious series where he is up against some of the best young drivers in the Southern Hemisphere, headed by last season’s Australian leading driver, Victorian James Herbertson, who currently sits on top the leaderboard after the first round of heats.
  17. If you blokes are having a look tonight at these youngsters race tonight Herbie should nearly win All 3 Heats tonight again.🤔( or some Quinellas with jett turnbull ) The first race tonight (Heat 7 at 7.52 NZ time ) the Bettor's Delight mare WORKS FOR ME has good NSW trainer , who isn't that good a driver, so was getting it beaten. Will improve heaps with James driving it. HEAT 8 is Race 3 tonight . Herbie drives the number one. The trainer Chris Watson is another ex-pat NZer , whose son Damon usually drives the horses. they have 2 in here this race. Chris usual race colours are black with a silver fern too like the All blacks. so a sort of win for NZ if it salutes ! can't work out Why this horse JUST ROLLING AROUND is so short in the market though.?? but might just be because Herbie is driving it . it does have 3 Redcliffe wins I spose. HEAT 9. is race 5. Herbie on the former top Western Australia trainer Michael Brennan's horse SABALA. Ran no-where at Addington in April for Jonny Cox, but was too good here first up. Cake-walk this in . The James Herbertson Treble is 14-1 odds . so might be worth a fiver? to get some week-end money 💰🍻
  18. Yes no doubt the very top drivers are able to do this on unfamiliar horses even. These would be Blair Orange and James Herbertson currently. the top of the 2 nations in wins. Others that are fully grade One would be Cam Hart and Pete McMullen. possibly Zac Butcher ? possibly John Dunn ? what do you/people think of them? happy to it on your horse ? Chris Alford (Vic) and is in his twilight years but still is solid , but like Tony Herlihy and Maurice McKendry and Ricky May you might be looking to the slightly younger brigade to be the more dominant now. Grant Dixon, Luke McCarthy, Natalie Rasmussen, even Mark Purdon himself rarely take/took outside drives , so are in a A grade class of their own . they are/ were Busy with Training for Results . and 100% successful with it. Wilson, Crystal, Carter and co in the younger brigade are just super. keen and enthusiastic. quite a few drivers in each State are doing fine like them too. Callaghan and Gallagher in NSW , Garrard in QLD especially The driving standard is Good as ever I reckon. they getting the horses to go faster than ever to go with it.
  19. A very serious topic then . and one that needs Addressing. I'm one of the 'Marvel' at it brigade and in fact love it. Nothing better than having your horse given every chance in a race , By getting some aid from stable-mates this becomes a reality for some horses that otherwise wouldn't of won. The Fixer winning the NZ Cup, Amazing Dream in the Auckland Cup a couple of examples , but Dunns and Telfers have even used great tactics to effect at times. Ferguson's even did that crazy one one time . I asked a galloping bloke one time , why he hated the harness racing so much? , and he said "Mainly because they all seem to be related to each other and you don't know who's looking after who ". 🤔 fair enough I spose. NZ races are tough enough to win as it is , but if you can go into a race with your horse and 'Get some Cover' or whatever it might be . like Green you are discussing, Mickey House at Manawatu, or how Allstars in Group racing for many years in Sires Stakes and age features (exactly like the current Emma Stewart barn and Grant Dixon barns might in Australia) and Not be 'Put to the sword' by a stable-mate. well and good . you might just win It !!! the highlighted bits above quite important in the success rate of these great stables .
  20. Yes I saw the heartbreak with Vinnie in Victoria when Popular Alm broke a bone, and BAG LIMIT and SINBAD BAY were constantly having issues , from over-stretching every thing . ( In between their many Super Big race Wins) The Top Level in both countries is through the ceiling good Chief. Esp Allstars (now on the wane) and Barry Purdon with a few stable stars taking over ( with all the hard work by Scott Phelan of course too) Allstars had unlucky accidents with Akuta and Millwood Nike to end their careers prematurely. and Cullens and Dalgety's are racking up many big race wins too. Very Sharp Trainers. It's a true pleasure to Watch them race. (just on a side note Chief , a very good friend of mine here in Brissy I used to drive for, has a horse share at Dalgety's. he loves to support NZ like Dean Shannon and that too. Horse named Magician , and should win tomorrow night at Addington too ) . Grant Dixon in QLD has Many 'very modest' horses racing too , some winning tonight even in slow old times and grades at Redcliffe where he sends the juniors to get a go. and get yet more wins. Something like the Dunns camp and the House camp does so well there. helping some smaller-time owners out which is nice 👍
  21. Six races down , with 4 to go. They're sending them around the Redcliffe Triangle after-All tomorrow night for 3 races . with the 10th and Final Leg at Albion Park Race 1 Saturday night . James Herbertson sure to take the title before he steps out driving RAKERO REBEL on behalf of the late Greg Sugars in the Interdominon Pacing Grand Final. Here's the current race by race points scored in photo below. Herbie cruising to victory in Leg 6 by 3 lengths from NZer Carter Dalgety and a staggeringly good $68 Quinella . The class of driver well worth following as predicted at start of thread, and you can reap the rewards . (I missed it though as was in shock a little from the late Chris Garrards passing) POINTS UPDATE. Young drivers Championship. Herbie (Vic) 72, Jett (NSW) 53, Chloe (QLD) 52, Emily (WA) 44, Carter (NZ) 38, Sam (NZ)and Bernadette (SA) 32, Wilson (NZ) 30, Harrison (NZ) 22 , Brodie (TAS) 16.
  22. This week a Very special harness racing man has passed away after a long battle with illness. Chris Garrard received a OAM (order of Australia medal in 2019) I'm sure he would of been so proud of that achievement as we are for his amazing support of harness. In recognition of the great harness racing supporter here's a small tribute to the wonderful supporter of our sport throughout Aus and NZ. Chris set up Horse and Hound from 1985 with wife Maureen and 3 sons and has developed the business over the years to help the participants with Rio harness and sulkies, Garrards Pesticides and even an Equine Veterinary practice. Many of my friends and colleagues from harness days work for the company in various capacities to this very day making the harness world a better place. Chris Sponsors many races throughout Australia and New Zealand, including our Main Australian feature races of the year , The Garrards Miracle Mile at Menangle . His last one saw two of the greatest horses ever seen, fight it out in Don Hugo and Leap To Fame. Chris helped set up the Redcliffe Yearling Sales . His dream to get everyday folk a horse to race at an affordable price, and sponsored the series for graduates of that sale. Chris being a long time President of the Redcliffe trotting Club , and is club Patron and life member. Chris still deserved a TOP horse himself though for all his years of support to many participants in the industry. a nice BOAY story for you is he paid the sale high of $36,000 2 years ago for the Redcliffe yearling sale top priced lo, t a nice ULTIMATE MACHETE Colt , and he gave Chris his biggest win in harness by winning the Sale Graduate Final for 2 yearolds One year ago. SINABUN would of given Chris one of his biggest thrills with the Win and am sure he got a Big picture on his wall to enjoy in his declining health times. Last Week on Friday night , SINABUN attempted to qualify for this weeks Group 1 Big Queensland Derby , but unfortunately didn't qualify as it is a Very very hot field. Chris would always recognize that horses is a 7 day a week job you can't get away from , and I remember him turning up at the stables on many Sundays, with a carton of beer to share with the staff , and share stories and toasts right into the evening sometimes , while we were hammering shoes and that sort of thing , getting ready for the next weeks work. A true Caring Gentleman , I'm proud to of known him , and certainly people like that are ones that endeared the sport to me and Many others for life. RIP Chris Garrard. A Champion of Harness racing forever.

  23. Race 3 a good example of our QLD young drivers. running the Trifecta. The old Saturday Interdominion quality boys of Pete McMullen and Shane Graham and Robbie Morris out-driven in that race 3 🤣😎😂 Paige Bevan (22) winning from Leonard Cain (25 years old and with 800 wins ) who both could of driven in the Young drivers Championship ran the Quinella , and Chloe Butler (22) who is in the championship ran 3rd .👍 Our future very bright for young drivers. 🏆🍻🥰 I would say Paige and Chloe is about the exact equal of someone's like Monika Ranger and Emily Johnson in NZ . all the young lasses having a good go at it really.
  24. Bugger the Dragon . couldn't get there for Herbie. Harrison Orange had to park and ran 3rd Heat 4. Couldn't get the lead off Herbie so 3rd was his lot. they went 27 , then 29 , then 27 , then 29 quarters in that 🤣😂 a 1.52 mile 😳 rattling along. and they're some of our slow horses here. That rarely start on Saturdays as would get smashed. West Australian young lass driver mowed my 'certain ' Quinella down late on too 🙄 . No justice in that . I better ring these stewards up and see what's going on ? 😎
  25. A kiwi won the first race tonight at Albion. Riley Butt !! his colours have the silver fern too. Unfortunately Riley has given up driving for some strange reason at the ripe age of 22. And put our best local youngster Angus Garrard on his horses. You think he could drive with a name like Butt ? they been a great driving family. Riley must of got a fright.
