  1. I agree it isn't a great betting medium (Brisbane trots) as they more or less wait for a good draw to go for the win. Don't forget , These horses race week to week and are not many are set for features or anything , or even a punt really , like we used to do. They just pay their way with lower prizemoney than NZ. same drivers drive the same tactics over the same distances Boring. As Brodster says really. You can still punt and win. I don't watch them often these days at all ( I bet Victoria gallops generally with a system) but last Tuesday had a look at Albion and tipped some for Karrots . I got 50% of the TAB quaddie by just taking the kiwi breds with good drivers . It was three Bettor's Delight and BLACK HAWK JOE , who is a visotor who has hung around for good interstate trainer Rickie Alchin. So was (Let's hustle (McMullen), Wholelottarosie (Dixon) , Recipe forDreamin (McMullen) , and BlackHawk Joe) . $275 for 50c . Just take kiwibreds with Leading Drivers !!!!!!!!! a proven formula I always use. might take one tomorrow now lol.........
  2. I believe stewards do a great job. For Drivers : rules applied/enforced to provide a Safe working environment for the combatants. For trainers : swabs, raids, horse Race gear items listed and enforced , tactics quizzed multiple runners ,etc to provide a Level playing field. For Punters : monitoring of betting activity, quiz of failure of heavy supported runners in races, etc. Like a Ref at the footy, stipes are not liked by some, But are definitely doing a necessary Job. Just don't be disillusioned by the odd decision not going your way.
  3. By golly you guys are harsh. Olivia Thornley got a stretch of time too. HOW on earth are drivers supposed to improve when they get long suspensions when not had many drives. ? don't understand it. I posted about KRUG above , in the Group 1 sires stakes . Do you think a long stint would help Blair. I got suspensions while learning on 3 occasions . WASTE OF TIME . you come back less experienced than getting drives in the meanwhile. (POOR Olivia , just sad) I put John McMullen over the fence too lol, and down into the lagoon at Redcliffe , came up out of the lagoon like the 'Swamp creature' lol. .....was worth the suspension !! lol....
  4. Came home in 58.4 half and a 30 second last quarter. Couldn't of gone for it hard enough IMO lol... Blair O .mmmm 10 drives for No Wins today . hope you not putting too much on ...... might of been 18.00 for Saginaw
  5. Unfortunately after talking to a few senior drivers today Ross is on a hiding to nothing, there are a few reasons why Ross steered back to the inside safety and horse welfare again Unfortunately don't get recognized. Punter perception seems to be the overriding factor in stipes decisions. All this discussion about a difficult to drive horse ,named SAGINAW , who was rank outsider in a little race. I still think of KRUG on CUP DAY 10th Nov, a heavily favoured runner , driven by a driver everyone here seems to like named BLAIR ORANGE. race was Race 8 The Sires Stakes Final. A feature Group 1 race. KRUG sat one -one all the way getting beautiful trip. (like Saginaw on Friday). Then KRUG refused to move to outside as they turned in to home straight around the death horse. This can happen now and then !!!!!. So Blair steers it back to inside , gets badly held up , and only runs 4th . Huge amount of money lost on it. WHO's at fault ??? Trainer? Driver? Horse? or Punter? (they all lost) and Blair didn't get time for that driving decision? maybe should of for failure to get horse to outside lol............ Why should Ross then? Advice >>>>>>>Just tell stewards horse difficult to drive Ross !!!! and Superbass was shifting wider early in straight as well , making it harder to come around it than earlier as well. And point out Krug lol......
  6. Every race there are drivers that make SPLIT SECOND decisions that may gain you the victory or MORE THAN LIKELY cost you victory . Because there is heaps of rivals doing Exactly the same thing. Ross is extremely inexperienced with 220 race drives , you have to learn and gather number of drives to earn not just 'reputation' with your peers but ability to make those strategic SPLIT SECOND decisions. 5 drives per meeting I was told is best to achieve this. He Literally pulled the wrong reign (rein) and looked a bit contentious because of it. BUT didn't effect the chances of any other runner ? nor endanger anybody (as often happens at the gallops even with the very best like Bowman and Berry that hospitilized fellow jockeys and killed the rival horses over past year.) I have trouble agreeing with the 'Dishing out huge Penalties ' when you just make a mistake that only costs yourself badly. Actually happens more than you think. I pointed out race 12 Addington, earlier in thread here, full of those mistakes . Much more serious if you 'Take someone else ' out of play. give them 3 months Ant's Butt cleaned up King of Swing recently in Brisbane and got a month. It's a TOUGH business > race driving.
  7. Very poor decision to go inside the death horse , when had ample time to pull outside just as they turned for home (or before if he wanted) Tis a shame , as Cameron drove SAGINAW brilliantly early part of race to get one-one sit from awkward alley. Three months for steering inside another runner instead of outside it ?? harsh , harsh harsh. What about the LAST race won by FireFox .Race 12. 3rd and 5th, G Thornley and John Dunn, Asian Elvis and Ned Kelly. looked to me both travelling well enough at quarter. (middle half was 61.2 seconds) Driver O'Reilly put himself into race with Life of Art and ran 4th with a great 'Attempt to WIN' drive. Meanwhile John and Gemma both refused to make a move until home straight , from 4 and 5 back running line ? STILL 8th and 9th 150m out even. No way they gave horses best chance of winning ???? Thoughts ?? bring back Natalie my main thought lol...... wouldn't see her driving uncompetitive like that! lol........
  8. congrats to John Dunn with 4 winners through the first half (6 races) of the program. Hoping he can match that in the second half of the card ! 7-8 winners on the day could be possible.
  9. What about your Cambridge corners ! a winner or 2 coming around the bends yet? Rage no good , you only end up like Molloy or Forbury! lol. yeah bottle of vino will help . good luck to you too .......
  10. com'on Karrots , i'm half way through the carton now , being a beautiful Friday and Big John Dunn is raking in the dollars , can't take over anything at present lol......
  11. Well Race 2 hits the line , and all is fine for BIG JOHN , big john, Big bad John....... lalala.... How did you go with that one Chief ? only $17.00 and $4.20 a place for Mr Dunn in the second on Sportsbet. I feel violated as paid $25 / $5 on the tote. !! dang it.
  12. ELEPHANT steps up to a Group 2 WFA tomorrow at Moonee Valley after winning his first 5 starts for NZ . Is he able to take that step ? and CRUSH the opposition once again. carries 59kg this time? but drawn the 1 alley. Give it a shake for the kiwis anyway ? At Brisbane some more animals involved , where we have the RATTLESNAKE racing in Race 8 Eagle Farm. Is Sure to give the opposition a shake and recoiling in terror lol.
  13. Well John takes out Race 1 and pays $7.00 . thank you very much . Keep em' comin' John lol !!!
  14. Good call Jason !! that won very easily from the good barrier draw. Fergo must be pinching himself getting all these BIG BAR stable drives !! gunna have a good day I suspect.
  15. Thanks for tips Karrots. chucked a spare dollar on the place multi Sportsbet. (Have to be in first 3, Don't have that Top 4 thingy in Oz unfortunately . 100- 1 exactly if all run a place !! excellent. John Dunn a big chance of driving 5 (and close with another 3) today !!! having fun without Nat and Mark lol.....
  16. Pretty short then , should be win or bust hahaha, and why is the FFA a stand? so old Whitesocks might miss away? just get em' all on the gate and all away safely is what they should do.? (saves more punters losing faith and/or money on gallopers) The FFA trot is a mobile , but I reckon the trots races 1 and 4 will be 'chaos' at the start.
  17. Hi Karrots , heading straight to the leading stable with best horses. Sundees Son would be a bit short but am still going for leading trainer John Dunn 'treble' still. Race 5 Somekindawonderful Race 9 Classie Brigade Race 12 Ned Kelly NED KELLY has a good Aussie ring to it !, and horse has atrocious manners to go with it. Fits the bill nicely for Gammalite then? lol..... You'll have to put the NZ odds in for me. nothing up for them here .
  18. Hey NZ is racing !!! off they go at Invercargill. Looking for a winner , but only came across PETES DASH in R9 with Dennis actually driving himself on this occasion, to get the job done. Looking at Dennis O'Connells training record , (I don't know him , but is mentioned Boay often) well he is getting better results every year. !!!! now in 8th season preparing runners , and here's the figures. 2014: 0 from 42, 2015: 1 win from 53, 2016: 0 / 11 starters, 2017: 3 / 56, 2018: 5 / 98, 2019: 5 / 119, 2020: 4 / 102 , and 2021: Dennis has 13 winners from 182 starters !! so a real break-out season. Best of luck today with Petes Dash (2 wins from 50 for Dennis ) persistancy pays in the end. The BOAY stable should get togeather , and have a crack too.!!! what a stable circus it would be lol.... Chief Stipe is in the hedge keeping RIU look-out duty, Gammalite hammering the sign on the gate saying 'BOAY Allstars2 revived" send us your horse! lol...... Karrots at the gate begging us to train her Sweet Lou fillies ! lol. Davis and the Galah at the TAB getting the bets on (and winning by backing anything else than Allstars2 runners. Ranga on the trackwork as knows a good horse or 2 , JJ Flash on the phone (ratting out the Chief in the bushes to the RIU) , and BRODIE with his brand new filly , that he picked up for $100 at a dispersal sale as doesn't want to spend too much , (and he fondly named her JACINDA to race) How hard will he work her ? winners all round
  19. Although surely that is a good deal for the absolute Best in the country?. Big gap back to the others? So many of the leading barns in Aus would be around $1000 a week in full racing mode. I would think with endless near million dollar yearling purchases looking for a home these days. Think Waller has 800 odd horses (and over 100 staff) on the books ,and Gollan in Bris has too. Snowdens, Freemans, Hawkes, Waterhouse , etc most would be double NZ in charges. would have to be about $500 a week for Nz racehorse roughly?
  20. Unfortunately Carleen 2nd on He's The Real DEEL in the last at Sandown so lost a win bet, but Madison Lloyd , the other lass claiming 3 kg, got the chockies for a $25 Quinella with Frankie Pinot. nice ! Doesn't the weight relief make a huge difference with these fine steeds ?? time to crack a pinot I think !
  21. I think you need to make some races for more prestigious , a name race , that owners can aspire too. Australia gone mad with this sort of thing Golden Rose, Everest, Kosiusko , golden Eagle. The prize money is sort of important depending how much it costs to keep a runner in training. You need a chance of being 'In front' . The punter likes to bet on 'Form ' runners . EXAMPLE so you need lots of race winners to get form on the board (to keep punters and owners happy)!!! , so is better to have say 2 x 10 horse fields (thus 2 horses adding to their winning form) also 2 lots of owners winning and keeping enthusiastic too !! than having one 14 -16 horse field with emergencies.
  22. sounds a great idea.!! lap it up . Hope the best maidens around get a run and make up a good field for you (the punter) and best of luck to the runner's owners. I would imagine paying the training fees as a group of owners would be WAY CHEAPER in NZ , as to what it is in Oz to train a galloper. so they need to race for more money here than NZ to try and return a profit.
  23. Well yes Doomben too, any midweek meeting that the BRC brisbane racing club run are 'higher' level METRO stakes meetings . First starter maidens accepted have to be rating 59 . Randwick as well midweek are 'metro' meetings as opposed to 'country'. so country would be NZ level.
  24. Hi Chief, The Wednesday Victoria meetings are 'Metro' meetings so of course are gunna be way better stakemoney than NZ. Sandown on today , and loving it . every year through winter the apprentices get swags of winners with the 2 and 3 kilos off , (and then Very Unfortunately nearly disappear when ride out claim) like POY and GERMAN last year. heaps of winners then , hard to get a ride now. Will PRICE starting to dry up ,as claim reduces . Cartwright has been brilliant . the girls today , Madison, Tahlia , Alana all getting good rides with claims . he real DEEL in the last with Carleen looks good too. Horses with 3 kilos less on their backs Must be able to perform better . love it. More claims the merrier !! easy to pick then.
