holy moly. some fixed odds are up for Melton . They NEver put up fixed odds for harness before the actual day usually . A pitiful effort compared to gallops treatment usually with early markets. seem to get them up all the time over 2 days ahead most of the time. so LET"S get some 100-1 at the Group 1 racing Victoria TROTS , while we can then π° A multi of PLACE Prices to get a hundred bucks. Melton Saturday night. Race 1/ $1.85 One Over All for Nz owners and the top driver Greg Sugars. tricky draw. Race 2/ $1.60 CantFindABetterMan this kiwibred would of been in Vic Cup most years Race 3/ $2.05 Major Delight , won 9 of 10 starts at Melton. 2nd to 'Aardie Ex here maybe? Race 4/ $1.30 CallMeTheBreeze, won the rich Great Southern Star here earlier in year over this distance , defeating JUST BELIEVE by a neck . the only defeat to Just Believe in his last 20 odd starts I think. Kate Gath will line him up here to try and nab/pip the champ again again. Race 5/ $3.50 Some American , Kate Gath might steer this bloke to 2nd in the Victoria Derby here. Has placed 10 of his 11 starts at Melton. goes alright. Race 6/ $2.60 Catch A Wave , Kate here with the Nullibor winner, beat Leap To Fame (3rd) in this race last year with a big finish , when 2nd to Act Now Vic Cup . He won a Miracle Mile too. Race 7/ $1.40 Aardie B Miki. Aardie's Express little sister sure to go close here in the Victoria Oaks for Queensland man Pete McMullen. hope she wins if 'Coastal' doesn't. NZer 'Coastal Babe' ONLY showing $1.55 to Win ? very short odds for the Steven Reid trained North Islander to win the Victoria Oaks . Must be a heap of kiwi's in Oz with plenty of cash going on it ? (the Imperatriz army leftovers π) chance of a couple of hundred π° for just a gold $2coin donation. and don't even need a winner (just a lucky 7 places lolπ)

Looks like The HORSEMAN has grabbed the number 8 runners just ahead of you TABman. So you are on the 11's. Probably MEANT TO BE (R3) that you have scored the best NZ has to offer in DON't STOP DREAMING (R9) . you should be able to BET AND WIN (R5) now with 3 good horses like those in your ' Team 11 '. (you'll be allocated a 2nd runner in some races TABman , to make up for the races without a No.11 runner. ) I've been waking up every day unable to breathe at 3-4 am for a week (literally) . It's 3.30am here currently. I told the Dr yesterday I think I'm getting too excited about the best horses in NZ and Aus racing this Friday and Saturday nights at Addington and Melton π. He said "you are a moron and take these AB's and don't die on us ........yet" lol. π . I replied I have to see NZ Cup first anyway. πππΊ

Some clever driving by you getting the number 5's, and you're rolling with Ya Rite Darl, It's Tough and Charlie Brown for the Diamonds (and just missed getting Mighty Logan (6) too π) put's you in with a strong chance in the BOAY Spring Cup π . Best of Luck !!! π»

PLEASE NOTE . that should read Horses 1 -12 that are selected . Post a Number between 1 and 12 here before Friday Race 1. Addington. (any race without the number you selected , you will get a replacement from numbers 13 onwards allocated to you and you might have 2 runners in some races) thank you.
-
With the good horses all having a run at Addington and Melton this week , time to get the old -timers some runners to support. So a Friday night Comp at Addington is the go . The BOAY Spring CUP . Anyone welcome to enter. Winner will be who picks the best HORSE NUMBER this week at the Friday Addington meeting gaining these points (first in first served) Points allocated will be 8 points for a win , 6 points for 2nd, 4 points for 3rd, 2 points for 4th. ALL you have to do is PICK ONE NUMBER between 1 and 10 and you have that number horse for EVERY race (first in posting favoured number here gets that horse number. Only ONE Player per number. please pick a different number if you SEE it already selected here below. π First and last races only have 9 runners , so the player with number 10 will have 2 runners given to them in the feature races during the night . (Scratchings from 1-10 with emergencies etc will also be replaced with Back Row horses.) Late scratchings and No Race = bad luck. will try and make sure Everyone will have the same amount of runners ultimately. Best of Luck to take out the BOAY SPRING CUP π!! POST a NUMBER here before race 1 Friday

Only 2 nights a year are put on National TV broadcast in Australia for Harness racing , and this is one of them this Saturday night at Melton. ( they have thousands of gallop races 24/7 π) Anyway the Poor old harness horses have the Spotlight for just a 'moment' in time with 6 x GROUP 1 races at Melton. Race 1/ Looser class trot with NZ owned One Over All and recent Butterworth NZ purchase Sacred Mountain in it . Race 2/ FFA with old Bach in it for Nz and ex-pat Cambridge man Kyle Marshall. Bach won 5 races last Autumn but not going as well now. Race 3/ G1 Queen Of The Pacific. the best mares with 3 of Grimsons good mares (Aardies Express drawn 2) against 3 of Emma Stewarts. Race 4/ Open Trot Sprint. Just Believe drawn 3. Write him the winners cheque now? NZ owned Queen Elida drawn 2nd row for Brent Lilley. Race 5/ Victoria Derby Final for $200k Emma Stewart stable with 7 of the 12 . The 2 Heat winners drew 2 and 3 . All over red Rover. Race 6/ Victoria Cup G1 (worth very miserly $300k π) Leap To Fame drawn 3 .All over red Rover. Grimson 4 x horses All drawn poorly. π Race 7/ Victoria Oaks G1 . Steven Reid came over with Coastal Babe from NZ . good on him. wins it from the pole draw too. The Queenslander (Aardie B Miki) for Pete McMullen drew 2 at the start so hopefully 2nd. Emma Stewart beaten for a change ? π Race 8/ Arrggghhh is in it . say no more . (worst horse name ever π) Race 9/ Keayang Zahara !!!!!! don't miss this one. She is Addington bound in November. Will be winning the Vic Trotters Oaks here no worries So ALL the very best of Australia will be racing , with the brilliant trotter KZ rounding out the card on her way to NZ. and ALSO the lone NZer 'Coastal Babe' a great shot as well of a BIG Win in the Oaks. this is gunna be Great. bring it on. π°ππ°ππ»

you could be right Chief , but sometimes the death seat can find you a good winner. and you can grind the opposition down a bit.
-
Well maybe the Fillies could get a Slot too ? in the Big 3 year old slot race. Because speaking of Summit Bloodstock , they are in the Ownership of COASTAL BABE. Coastal Babe absolutely 'monstered them' in the Victoria Oaks heat at Melton last Sat. She was Zipping home in 26 seconds to destroy the Emma Stewart 4 x Horses in her heat and looks a Great Chance in the VIC OAKS Final this week. Great to see a kiwi there. !!! and a Huuge chance too. Likewise , AArdie B Miki cleaned up the 4 x Emma Stewart Fillies in the first Oaks heat for trainer/driver Pete McMullen , owner Mike Tanev and Queensland !! (full sister to group 1 mare Aardies Express who won at Menangle again Saturday night as well) pair of nice horses there owned by Canadian Mike. lucky bugger. Mike breeding these 'Aardie' horse in NZ originally. Will be great to see the NZ - QLD quinella next Saturday night in the VICTORIA OAKS Classic. potentially ππ. who is this Emma Stewart stable again? maybe they could both run in the Velocity afterwards. ? fantastic footnote: Emma Stewart stable ran TRIFECTA in both the Victoria Derby Heats , so with 6 strong players in the DERBY Final this week , So she'll probably win that anyway. π

Rumoured top pick for next CEO on NZ Head Office
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Some New Zealanders in the NAVY might suit your CEO needs then Chief. Some of the 'Rock crazy' crew on the HMNZS Manawanui probably looking for job now? Racing NZ work might be easier for them ? π π -
Rumoured top pick for next CEO on NZ Head Office
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
Just saw Sharrock for the first time on Facebook. He wanted to go back to the famous Rugby, Racing and Beer days. There in lies the problem. In modern times Rugby League , Racing cars, and Wine are more popular (with the very best of the players, drivers and drink) making a Huge impression on the International stage. and very sadly 'Pokies' had a huge impact on people's NZ racing involvement too. The answer is to get people back interested in 'Racing' with Quality horses that are still being bred in NZ and compete on the International stage (to keep a high profile) Te Akau are a force in doing this , and have kept NZ racing to the fore with Melody Belle and Imperatriz , etc recent years with lots of shareholders . Gai Waterhouse racing does this on a big scale in Sydney for example quite successfully. gets a LOT of people involved that otherwise wouldn't Be. So ALL is NOT LOST yet . NZ has had some good racing lately, but a lot of Bad publicity from all the scraped meetings. a financial and critical disaster. So isn't ELLERSLIE nearly fixed now ? surely when a WORLD Class venue is in action , Like All the other countries have. People will roll in for a look and a piece of the action. No need for the Rugby or the Beer Mr Sharrock. Get a Wine Drinking (NZ Warriors supporting) racing CEO , and all will be well .ππ° -
And won at Methven again today in the Fillies and mares classic trot. Rush came up the home straight nearly 'sideways' like a crab, and with more fancy Leg-Work than the Brodster used to strutt around on the dance floor, but Sam Ottley somehow Held her Togeather to take the Win . Sam is fabulous driver as you suggested at getting rough going ones going ok. 3 yearold filly KEAYANG Zahara would beat her (Rush) by 50m ( after another easy win last night) But full credit to Sam for that win today on RUSH. and some Canny training by Mark Jones.

Yes as Curious said they have a NEW Lightning policy in Victoria . Just now they have had to go back half hour at Flemington as there was a lightning strike in the area. That being the new timing for any lightning in area to clear. Last night the storm was pretty persistent . usually they pass through quite quickly. 2 years ago Coolangatta and other horses were terrified on Manikato stakes night by a violent sudden evening storm with the loudest thunderclaps ever heard there. the race itself was run another day afterwards. was quite a shocking experience for all those there that night. -
Looked quite Hot Chief. hahaha. bit of 'Hot' Pink with black trim lol . like Black Caviar. catches the ladies eyes. Always a winner mate π. just found em' in the cupboard. sort of shower proof material where all the track slop and water just falls straight off.
-
They have super tight super sleek pants and silks these days. They wouldn't hold water like cotton or anything. I think Mickey wasn't serious about 2kg. it just felt like it with the water pummelling them during the race like a fire hose. Even in the older days we had satin silks that were very very light. Brush the clods off when they dismount and they would be fine to weigh in .
-
On ya Mickey . Great drive up the fence there in the 5th at Flemington. Look after the 'Monger' mate. Shame I only got $3.60 and it paid $4.50 in the end, but can't have all the luck. π»π

The ''Ascent'' Slot race for 3 year old trotters
Gammalite replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
Had the pleasure of chatting with him once 40 years ago Ranga. At Alexandra Park when he stormed to Victory in the Trotters Interdominion Consolation. (photo) He had a very nice mare in DOWNSOUTH CLARE . Dick Lee passed away 30th Sept 2024 aged 89 years . RIP. Fun Fact: Dick used the same Whip that Bruce Clarke used to drive Gammalite π to win the Pacers Grand Final and Graeme Lang used with Scotch Notch π in the Trotters Grand Final that she waltzed away with by 6 lengths (he might need of used the whip on her but Gammalite sure copped some π€£π ) that sure was One lucky Whip !!!! 40 years later and KEAYANG ZAHARA about to do Aussie proud like Scotch Notch and Downsouth Clare did in NZ for the Aus trotting Fillies/ mares. ( La Cocaracha did well in Nz once too) -
The ''Ascent'' Slot race for 3 year old trotters
Gammalite replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
yep . you're on the money ok. Just found this article about their association with Ken Breckon and Richard Cole for their slot. Looks like they're on a Winner for the Inaugural 'Ascent' The unbeaten three-time Group 1-winning filly caught the eye of Ken Breckon (Breckon Farms) and Richard Cole (Managing Director of IRT), and will make her way to New Zealand later this month to represent the high-profile slot holder pairing. βItβs great to team up with Ken Breckon and Richard Cole, they are great people who are big supporters of the industry. Itβs very exciting to be in partnership with them,β Lee said. The eye-catching squareqaiter has now had seven starts for seven victories, including dominant results in the NSW Trotters Oaks, NSW Trotters Derby and the Vicbred Super Series Final (3yo Trotting Fillies). She will step out in the Need For Speed Princess Final at Melton this Saturday night and the Victorian Trotters Oaks on Saturday, October 12 before jetting to New Zealand for the half-a-million-dollar event. βIf all things go to plan, she will stay in New Zealand for the Trotters Oaks two weeks after,β Lee said. -
Cold Chisel already with the Northern Derby in his keeping . The 'Merlin' Entain boss Dean really rocking it lately with YourTheOneThatiWant now joining in. π€£ he's channelling some Grease energy there. It's a wonder there's not a ''Greased Lightning' racing somewhere for him πΊπ He sold 'KISS' off to the Aussies though. Gene Simmons won't be happy about that π . KISS is in the Victoria Oaks heats tomorrow night. Dean also sent INXS and Supertramp to Oz to try and rock the scene up a bit. Supertramp not raced though here but INXS won 3 in the Winter, but was down the track in the Group 1 QLD Derby won by the good NZ owned/trained horses 'Major Hot' in July. Dean is Sure as Eggs to have a great November at Addington Cup week with his 'good band ' of Barry Purdon/Phelan stars anyway. Bit of Merlin magic very likely.

Mickey DEE !! π° D for dollars. what a great ride on Privileged Son just then in the 2nd MV. Michelle Payne now training with Patrick Mickey will be on some more winners tomorrow for sure , just like Matty Cartwright will in NZ . 2 similar jockeys that get GREEEAAT Results. Jmac rides are getting a bit short in the odds these days, so take the 2 next best and rake in the wins. Go you good things !! π°

Rumoured top pick for next CEO on NZ Head Office
Gammalite replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
when some get the need to jostle about pointless things on the racing forums it turns into a bit of cartoon as they try and beat each other up. including their very own contributors it seems a lot lately. NZ supposed to be a peaceful place on the planet too lol ? π -
what an awesome view at Wyndham during the race videos. The river so huge behind them at the 600m Mark it looks like an ocean in the background. and at the 400m the water almost looks like it is coming up the banking levee right beside the track. The guys there racing are tough as teak and racing away anyway. not worried about a bit of water about lol.
