Harewood, let us just wait and see! The domination by the one stable of all the group races has been a major negative for harness racing in NZ over the last decade or so! You go back and look at the full fields, the evenness of racing and the interest from the public. This has certainly gone backwards hugely due to the domination. We had 2 year olds aplenty racing from November but this has become non existent now because owners and trainers knkw they are just wasting their time as they wont be besting the AllStars 2 year olds! Yes the current AllStars owners will leave their horses with Hayden Cullen but if the results are not there then they will go elsewhere or drop out as they are not getting any you ger. Jean Feiss will pull out from racing in NZ now that AllStars have disbanded as she will just race in Oz. It is going to be very interesting what results come out of the Cullen barn if he is left to train without the same assistance ! You would wonder whether the training bills are going to drop drastically at the Cullen barn without the huge extras that are charged for? Owners there demand results or they wont be staying too long! Tim Williams will start training on his own or in partnership with Cullen. Personally think the disbanding is the best news for harness racing for a very long time.

Omakau is a turning track that generally suits the front runners. Dont think there is much banking so being handy is going to be an advantage. Good punting!
-
No ulcers as far as Brodie is aware? Been a good year health wise, never tested though for the deadly virus! Been an even better year financially due to having a Labour government in power though!
-
Chief, it is not just rumours, pretty validated and obvious really! Yes there are always big knockers, but lets just see what happens with the results that come out in the future from the barn.
-
Yes there were some impressive performances, however you can normally get up and put the jug on and not miss much until the last 50metres. The racing at Auckland compared to Addington is like chalk and cheese unfortunately! Auckland lack the number horses required and also run the wrong way around!
-
The Dunns will win the premiership in NZ for the next few seasons, providing they stay at the beach and have another team in Auckland. They are a very good partnership and have some very well heeled owners who will continue with them now that the AllStars are gone. Will not disclose anything on a public forum but from very good source there are other reasons for the ceasing of the partnership! Time will certainly tell if there is anything in it going by what happens when Mr Cullen takes over!

JJ, why do I continue to point out the hypocricy of the TAB restricting certain punters to pathetic amounts and allowing other punters to put on large amounts? why? Because it is just not right, they advertise that they are concerned about gamblers that can not afford to lose! Bollacks, they are the punters that they encourage by giving them bonus bets!! I dont get Bonus Bets, but all these others do? If the TAB is not going to allow all punters on fixed odds, then go back to Tote only!!!!! if the TAB continues to think it is fine for them to allow certain punters on for amounts of $20 and others on for $10k then they are going to have to take the publication of this fact! r

No he can not maintain the same strike rate, unless he adopts the same training advantages that the AllStars used, and I do not believe he will be doing that! Do not know Hayden Cullen but there is no way that any trainer operating legally can ever dominate harness racing again like the AllStars have for such a long time.
-
Basil, firstly your comment in regards to Hunter’s mother not missing him, is a clear sign of your opinions not being worth a pinch of dog shit!!!! Basil, some people are easily accepting of things and let us see how Hayden Cullen performs at the AllStars stables! What on earth js wrong with 4 minute NZ Cups, far preferable than one stable winning it every year! I cant get much on any race whether it be a maiden or a Cup race, so that wont affect Brodie. However, it will be great not to have The Trackside presenters and interviewers wanking on about the AllStars. Hopefully Mark and Natalie enjoy their extended time off! Wouldnt be surprised to see Tim Williams go out on his own training and I know he will be very successful.

The racing at Alexandra Park last night was pretty boring! When you are having 6 horse fields and racing for good stakes you know that all is not right! Perhaps there might be more South Island horses go up there for Premier nights now that one stable has pulled up sticks, but Hayden Cullen may well continue if he has the horse flesh

Jj, I acknowledge that overseas bookies/accountants do the same, but that doesnt mean it is right!!!! I am sure they are not losing sleep as they get paid for just turning up! They are not providing the service that restricted punters require and are hypocrites! they advertise that they worry about problem gamblers but do nothing about restricting losing punters!!!!!! The winning punter is who they are concerned about, they chop them down! I dont bother too much now as It is basically not worth my time and effort however I will continue to advertise the fact that they are ethically wrong in what they are doing! Far easier ways of making money nowadays!
-
As far from a Socialist as can be Chief. Not Tall Poppy either, just stating fact! For Harness Racing to survive in the future, we have to have horses, owners, trainers and punters!! The stake money for harness racing is quite pathetic nowadays when you compare it to previous decades. You were racing for more back in the 1980’s and to be racing for stakes of $7k is just ludicrous. You are just going to attract people to racing to own horses when they are almost guaranteed to be losing $10 to $20k per horse per year, and this is what has been going on in recent years. Now with the opportunity to own a horse with a chance of earning good money in the bigger stake races, there is some chance. What I like is seeing stake money going to different people who are also shelling out thousands every month for having a horse racing. Seriously, do harness enthusiasts really enjoy seeing the one set of colours dominating races???? I certainly didnt!!

What I will guarantee is that most owners and trainers in NZ thought it was a great day when it was announced that the All Stars were pulling up sticks! Many wont say so but it is a very well known fact that are totally over racing for the scraps in the big races! Yes the AllStars have an unbelievable record for winning races and do a great with their horses, no one can deny that! Of course they are going to be missed, as they wont be plundering all the major stake money year in and year out! We all have an opinion on whether what they were doing was always legal or not, however what ever they were doing clearly worked! As a racing point of of view, I do firmly believe that owners and trainers will now view things a lot lot more positive going forward. Will be very interesting to see how well Hayden Cullen goes and jf he gets the same results seem he has been watching most things that have been going on there?

Happy New Year, Basil. Love getting awards, just another for the cabinet. Hoping that 2021 is the year that the TAB sees the error of their ways, and starts treating customers all equally and are ethically correct! Nothing to do with self obsession, it is all about my continued right to point out the hypocrisy of the NZ TAB!
-
Mehe, FFS it is nearly a New Year and you seem to think that Brodie needs protection? If someone has been moderated it is for a reason that Chief deems warranted and after warnings! If Anyone doesnt agree with something they are entitled to express their opinion, but there js a right and wrong way to do it! You and A couple of others were deliberately being antagonistic and trying to disrupt this site, and as it is the Chiefs site, it is his perogative as to how he runs it! Happy New Year to each and everyone to contributes anything to BOAY! It is going to be a very interesting year for everyone, some have not done very well financially, so hopefully 2021 is better for you!
-
Mehe, no one is protecting anyone here! Anyone is allowed to state an opinion, providing it is respectful and not putting the site in jeopardy! Brodie will speak his mind whether you like it or not! Chief doesnt have to support anything I say and that is the beauty of it! Some people have generally the same thought patterns and that is why you think I am being supported. The TAB continually victimise restricted punters, so it is restricted punters perogative to remind the TAB how ethically wrong it is to be treating punters differently!!!!!
-
Lol. Yes I did like your comment, then I thought that Paul Nairn wouldve worked out how to train The Ginga better than Alan Clark, as he is a brilliant trainer of trotters. I sincerely apologise if you were offended by the removal of the heart, nothing at all personal, Mehe! It is Xmas/New Year time, and we are all meant to be KIND!!!!!!
-
Most of the Middleton breed were little horses and never carried much condition. The late Carl Middleton also from Methven was more than likely a son of one of them. Carl was a good trainer of trotters and a decent bloke from what I heard.
-
Probably a “Prized Prick”. Was it worth reading? Yes I read it, was I not meant to?
-
Yes, the Middleton’s, Graeme and Colin, I believe, always had 2 year olds up and running for the first 2 year old races back in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They could run as 2 year olds but didnt go on with it as older horses.
-
I think Paul Nairn would be bright enough to work out how to find the best from The Fiery Ginga! He was probably as tough a trotter as we have had, with the way he was driven and raced all the time. Mr Clark should have it suggested to him, that the horses he have raced since are not The Fiery Ginga, and can not be driven the same way!
-
Mehe you were clearly moderated for being a plonker! I am not protected by Chief at all, We have never met!!! Chief to my mind is an extremely fair and tolerant moderator, and everyone gets a more than fair hearing! What happens is that there is one or three that just want to rock the boat! If you dont want to read any of my posts, then just totally ignore them, as you are not compelled to read anything!!! You dont have to agree with what I point out, however disagreeing with Brodie for the sheer hell of it is also very tedious.
-
Mehe, just can not be bothered discussing things with you! The TAB hammers restricted punters continually so I will give it back to them as they dont play fair! If someone has been moderated then it is not before they have received warnings! As to spelling it is often hard to understand what you are saying! Finally, how about posting a discussion topic for once, instead of just being a plonker?
-
Matt Purvis and Tom Bagrie are both very good young trainers, and very likeable as well. There are a few coming through but probably not enough! You could probably say that they have had a bit of an assistance due to their family connections in racing! Must be just about impossible nowadays for a young person starting out training without some assistance! Not belittling their very good efforts as they are both successful and doing a great job with their horses. We certainly need more coming through!
-
Mehe, yes of course it is repetitive!!!! I will always stand up and fight for my rights when I am being wronged!!!! You on the other hand are a follower of BS! Mehe, not one person has been moderated at all due to someone not agreeing with Brodie!!!!
