It actually did show a fair bit of speed several times in The straight at Forbury! To be fair Denis O’Connell would be classified as a hobby driver, and His horses always perform better with a professional driver, no offence intended, Denis!!

Happy, thing is that Oz is far easier to place a horse and win races! Even though I am having trouble saying it, Averos Spitfire would win races, especially in South Australia, where the horses are absolutely donkeys! Horses that are driven with a sit in NZ, go to Oz and can lead up and still win! Some of our horses do improve by going over there and with different training methods, however Oz horses on average are just not as good as ours, so it is far easier to win!!

The media has been bought by the govt. by the money the taxpayer has given them. They are scared to ask the right questions and it is a known fact that she only has the journalists that are going to be KIND!!!!!!

Just watched Vigaroso bolt in at Bendigo. Won like a horse that is capable of winning heaps more in Oz. Was a reasonable battler for Denis O’Connell, racing mainly at Forbury for fair results! Wonder what sort of money they wouldve paid for a horse like this nowadays?

Word has it that Greg O’Connor has resigned from the job of promotions at Addington, which was extremely brief! Can not confirm but I am sure someone can? The wrong person has gone i would say, as there are several that harness definitely need to have gone ASAP!

Unfortunately for harness racing in NZ, he just hasnt got the ability to be constructive! I will take it that everyone agrees with me, unless someone posts something that says otherwise!! Ken Spicer, we understand that you appointed Mr Holden to this important position, and word is that it is only because he was a cobber of yours!!! If that is the reason Mr Spicer, you should resign your current position as it is totally dishonest, and should not be tolerated by Harness Racing NZ! Has Mr Holden got a vote of confidence from anyone apart from Mr Spicer?

Ardern says that she didnt know about the 4 positives until about 4 pm On Tuesday! Winston new about it at around 3pm on Tuesday, before Ardern??? John Tamihere knew on Monday, so dont believe that Ardern didnt know about it before she says!! She says that she wanted a transparent government!!! i say BS, you can not trust anything she says!!!! Phil Holden talking to David Di Somma this week once again, has given me absolutely no confidence in our CEO of HRNZ! Do not think he could negotiate anything at all, and god help harness racing if this is the best that they can do!!! why in earth Ken Spicer decided he was the best he could get is definitely puzzling! So far he has done not a single thing of benefit, and he is too soft to be in the CE position. He needs to grow some balls and go into bat for harness racing as his efforts on a variety of things has been woeful! Thats right, it wont worry him as he is on a big salary and will move on when things deteriorate, just like John Allen did! How is the enquiry into race 9 at Addington start going Phil?

We have to realise that this virus has not actually killed anyone in NZ! We have had 23 die mostly that have been rest homes, 13 of the 23 from the one dimentia rest home! Some didnt even test positive to the virus!!!! Have been told that already the suicide deaths due to Covid19:is much higher, however this small detail wont come out from this Govt. as they just want to have everyone shit scared! Of the 4 from the family from South Auckland, are any of them in hospital? Yeah Nah!, If this coalition of nillers is going to close the country everytime there is a case, then we might as well all jump off a cliff!!

Tornado Valley and McLovin were both not bad trotters, both were good grinders racing in Canterbury! When they went to Oz they have both become in the top echelon over their! Very interesting!

The sooner the sheep realise that they have been following the most incompetent Government in NZs history the better. they have achieved nothing that They campaigned on. You are deluded if you think they are worrh voting for!

If someone is not up to a task then the employment should be terminated! Personally dont give a rats if there is a contract, surely the starter been given written warnings for poor lerformance? If he has not, then the Met needs to step up to the plate and start doing this, as surely they can see the performance is substandard! Greg O’Connor is his new role, to improve racing etc. needs to be doing this pronto. The fact of the matter is that there is many many thousands wagered on every race that the current starter officiates over! It is just not acceptable that the shite that is being dished up far too often, ks accepted by the Met and HRNZ and the punters! Hopefully someone in officialdom will see shat we can see, and act on it!

Basil, bit over the top, but yes you do have some good ideas there. Dont condone horse bashing! Treat everyone ad innocent until they can prove people guilty! Stop persecuting people that need help rather than destructing! Encourage punting rather than try and eradicate!

You could well be correct, Greg! However, it is Addington Raceway that is putting on the harness racing, and HRNZ would be governing over the Met Club I would say! It is shocking then that Addington are still happy to have a starter that is not competent to do the job now! Age can catch up on people earlier than others, and Sometimes you just have to own up to your short comings. Whether HRNZ or Addington admit the starters failings nkw and do something about it, is doubtful! However, the eyes are going to be fully on the starts from now on, and the pressure will mount for another starter if the starts continue to be substandard!

I doubt HRNZ will be doing roadshows! They will need too much security!

What on earth is the stewards have opened up an enquirey into the start mean? The starter effed up again, one of their own! It happens every week, nothing to do with the horses, all to do with the starter not up to The job! Doubt anything will happen, never does, too busy dealing hammering others!,, Time Mr Holden stepped up to the plate and tells the starter he needs to retire! Everyone Thinks the same!,

What about starters? Are they adding value to racing?

Tim has had his knockers over the past few years! I have not been one of them, however he like all others had poor drives! What I have noticed from Tim now, is a maturity and consistency that probably wasnt there a couple of seasons ago. He now seems to be a thinking driver rather than an all out attacking driver, thinking he was driving an AllStars horse. His UDR so far this season is near .4000 which is pretty impressive! Even his interviews are impressive and down to earth and likeable! Maybe it is fatherhood that has improved things, I am not sure, however he is one bright spot for harness racing at the moment.

Mikey, it is pointless when he is quoting bets of $150, It is clearly showing that they are not Bookies anymore. Bookies take bets I thought and offloaded what they didnt want. These punters that are allowed to get 1 or 2 thousand on are extremely privileged, compared to other punters who can get buggerall on!! The TAB have always got the advantage over the punters with The odds they offer, however they do not seem to realise this by encouraging punters to have a go! What is the point of The Bookies offering odds that are just not worthwhile or competitive. They want people to also bet on the tote bUt by driving punters away then they will Not get tote betting either. This obviously reduces the pools and the dividends on the tote nowadays are Also pretty short. Everyone is allowed to choose what they do with their money, however you will find that they have other priorities than gambling, if they are not offering fair value!

Noodlum, what they are is quite obvious. The hierarchy of the TAB who are all grossly overpaid for what they actually do for racing in NZ, dont want anyone making money on betting! Anyone who is a consistent winner gets restricted so much that it really isnt worth their while. They have been doing this for many years now and they wonder why turnover is not growing? They want control over every punter and that is why the $1k limit was brought in, and dont believe the BS that it was the DIA that wanted it! FFS, how is someone winning $1k money laundering?? They advertise that they are concerned for people with gambling problems! What a load of bollacks! All they want is people with gambling problems and that is punters who lose! No it is not an even playing field when it comes to the TAB!! The NZ taxpayer has had to bail the TAB out or all of their employees would now be at the WINZ offices, and yet we have not heard a single thing from the hierarchy in this regard. They continue to collect their massive salaries on the basis that they continue to have only losing punters wagering with them.

Basil, you are entitled to your opinion. Yes we all have had it rammed down our throats how great the AllStars are, and how every other stable in the country needs to up its game! However the NZ Cup has become less and less interesting in recent years due to the domination! This year even moreso as we wont be getting as much of the Michael Guerin and Craig Thompson wanking on about it! Yes we need to have prestigious races and yes we need cup day, so that we can get plenty of income off the hospitality! Yes it will be a boring race, and yes the standing start will be a mess, but what we need is more people betting iNto the races! Will harness racing attract more people into it, the way it is currently going? Not on your nelly, Basil!!!! The current decision makers in many of the sectors just have their own agendas, and this is crippling the industry!!!!!!!!
