Happy, the things in Averos Spitfires favour is the one draw and Jonny Cox in the cart! You still have to have the ability and it will be reasonably hard going on the Methven track tomorrow! It was full out last Saturday and on the time it ran last Saturday it would finish 200 metres behind on what it will need to do tomorrow to win.

Laws are there to be changed, just like the whip rule that is being changed! Phil Holden says that he is going to be driving turnover on Harness Racing? Why is he not going into bat to improve harness turnover by having a word to the TAB to allow punters to be allowed to wager and advise the NzTAB that harness punters are not money laundering when they are collecting or betting $1k!!! If Holden allows these socalled rules that have been adopted, nothing surer is that the stakes distribution to harness racing will drop!!!

Would not think so Mr Tard! On what basis do you think it can run its first dividend bearing placing, the fact that it has drawn 1? The horse may have won at the Methven trials but it was not impressive, went a slow last quarter and was driven harder than any other horse on the day, to win a trial? The odds the Bookies are offering at $7 and $2.30 is just blatant massive unders, for a horse that has never run a place in 48 starts!!!!!!! Brodie is on the money
-
CHief, could you interpret it for me? Am I meant to have egg splattered on my face because John Dunn is going to fix the race so that a 48 start non placed maiden can run a place? Yeah nah!
-
You are probably right CP, it may well trail For Today! However, its race record Is diabolical and surely does not warrant being in work? Yes it is not a strong maiden field, but It is also not a strong horse. Yes it won at the trials last Saturday on the Methven track but the time it ran for the last 400m and being under sufferance from that point hardly gives me encouragement that it can go any quicker on Sunday, and it will need to by quite a lot! You have to realise that the driver wouldve been done for excessive use of the whip, had it been raceday, and it was onLy trials! There are others in the field that are just far better horses. From the draw if it trails and they dont go too quick in front, it could run 5th probably at best. Hopefully it does run a place, as it would put my statement that it wont run a dividend bearing placing at rest, however just can not see it! Go the mighty Spitfire!!!

To be fair, Brodie must clearly be on the money as usual! This posting has so far had 6,700 views which seems to be the most viewed topic for a long while! Everyone will be cheering the horse on so that it does run a place sometime, so that Brodie has egg on his face! Is there anyone out there that thinks it is going to happen? If so on what evidence, certainly not on its Trial win last Saturday at Methven? If it was raceday, Andrew Faulks Would have been done for excessive use of the whip!!!
-
Lol. To be fair, unfortunately Averos Spitfire would need a helluva start for it to run a place at Methven on Sunday even though it has drawn the ace and should get a pretty good run! Yes it won a trial there last weekend, but it did beat anything of any account, and it led up and was the only one that was heavily under the whip!! Ran no time and was flat at the finish, Counter Punch can you really say it ran them into the ground? Lol Big step up from trials to raceday at Methven on a testing track! Look, I honestly hope that it goes a great race for the connections, but will it pay a dividend, Nah!

Fair call Happy, however both are bereft of good leaders, and need help!

JAKH, you may be a Spritely old fellah for your age, however normally wouldn’t you normally be tucked up and lights out?

Think I should get a start, Would be a good day down there if we were allowed on the course! Just an absolute shame for the club when we have to stay home and be safe, just because there is absolutely no cases of a virus in the South Island for months?? I see that Cup Day tickets have been released! If Ardern is still in control, there is a better than 50% chance that there will not be anyone oncourse, and therefore I would say NZ Cup Day will be cancelled! There is no way there is going to be no cases by then, and of course there are going to be Aucklanders flying down and spreading their nasty killer virus bugs all around the course. There will be no masks being worn and can you believe social distancing taking place? Not on your nelly, and I believe there are going to be one helluva change in opinion of Ardern and co.next year!

Seriously Denis O’Connell- Hand your license in!!!!

To be fair Arderns handling of Covid19 since level 4 has been very poor. Personally dont believe that National are dead set wanting to win this election as there is such a mess that this nil lot have got us into. Yes they had to lockdown early as we didnt know what we had, but it has now become such a costly overreaction to a very average virus as Brodie has stated many times. Personally the mishandling by Ardern is effectively giving us one helluva lot of money due to the historically low interest rates. I do feel sorry for the many people who are going to be out of work, those that will lose everything they have worked for, the elderly who relied on deposits for income and the many that will decide that life is not worth living for! Ardern and her useless cohorts are going to be taking one helluva lot of flack over the next few years!, -

Phil likes to get in early and totally stuff everything he touches! Racing is already stuffed but yes he would be ideal as Racing Minister as he has no idea about how to succeed at anything! -

We can not have racing without politics Mr Retard! Once Winston is gone then racing will not get any more bailouts! Forums are for discussions and sometimes topics get intertwined! If you do not like the topic then you are not required to comment! Anyway, I think your country has more than enough to worry about, thinking maybe you could take our PM but we do not want the Victoria Premier in exchange. -

Brodie replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Seriously, how can anyone defend Mr O’Connells drive, it wasnt just one very poor decision! Have a look at the UDR and no. Of wins! Please explain why he has only a Graduation license when he has held an Open License previousy? Yes Keryns decision to press on so hard when leading was not great, however she did win the Juniors inter island champs recently, so can drive. Mr O’Connell’s drive and decision making was extremely poor and not up to a standard and deserves a long suspension. A young Junior lost his license and was sent back to the trials, and he actually won his race!!!! Mr O’Connell has not got the ability to drive a winner at Addington, so how does that work? -
Seriously Denis O’Connell- Hand your license in!!!!
Brodie replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
You are probably right, and I am not doubting that he can train horses! He should not be allowed a license to drive on raceday! His driving record UDR clearly shows that! His horse he previously trained Vigaroso is going like a champ in OZ!! -

Kimberley clearly went for a gap that wasnt there, and she will admit that, but she is a skilled horse woman and driver, however Denis could not be classed as the second one! Mr O’Connell certainly used the whip in the straight unnecessarily as the horse was already beaten -

Brodie replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Yes Keryns drive on Glenthorpe, was not that well thought out! yes it wouldnt go down as some of her better work, however nowhere near as bad as O’Connells for several reasons! The interesting thing is the fact that our Junior driver that won the inter island competition this year has not won a single race in 34 drives!! Just shows how much of a raffle the inter island comp is doesnt it? -
What has happened to the edit bit?

Unfortunately that is the problem! She has not got any kdea! She wants to stiff the economy as then she has more. Her first policy she has announced if they get back in, ks for another Public Holiday for Matariki, whatever that BS Is???? FFS, the last thing we need is more holidays, business is bleeding and people have had enough days off this year to last a lifetime!!! Ardern and her loser cohorts have got absolutely no idea how to get NZ business going! Be Kind, what a load of BS!!!!
-
What quote is wrong? So you are saying that people losing their business and jobs is not going to increase the suicide rates? You are dreaming JAKH, Australia commentators are already saying there is a spike Over there, but the governments wont want it coming out!!! It is common sense that the crippling of the economy is going to have a a far worse effect on lives than any virus that is not a killer, unless you have issues already. If you are scared, stay at your rest home, where you are more likely to catch something anyway! People are starting to see that this government has mismanaged the situation in recent months and Wont take much more.
-
JAKH, this was brought out as a political broadcast by the Labour Party. Are all the specialists wrong when they say the ramifications from the lockdowns that are killing business and jobs goi g to be far worse than Covid19? I have heard from many that are saying that mental health is increasing and there has been an increase in suicides. Interesting that they quoted to June when the financial Implications hadnt totally hit but watch this space!! There are heaps of people die from the run of the mill influenza every hear but do we lockdown for that? If you feel you are vulnerable then stay put but you have no right to expect to be able to financially cripple everyone else!!! In time you will realise what a total over reaction to a virus that will not have a vaccine that works for a long time. The scaremongering by this controlling leader is blatant BS and government is not elected to control people and especially not myself!

Seriously, hoe anyone could possibly defend the drive as being acceptable is just ridiculous!!! He couldve easily dropped into the trail early on. He shouldve handed up to Jimmy Curtain a lap out, and to keep his poor horse parked out and then hammer it down the back straight was just ridiculous! Yes of course he is an easy target bit there js a reason for that! Why is he only on a Graduation license, when years ago he had an Open License???? The Harness Industry needs to have far better standards than this, as the drive was a shocker. The same driver had his horse disqualified From a placing at Cromwell as he went up the passing lane with a round to go! Yes there are a enthusiasts that want to drive their horses on race day, and yes they are entitled to if they have a licenses! However, if their standards are not up to scratch, then they need to be stood down. On the roads, do you condone people that are dangerous to be able to drive just because they have a license? -

I have just read the stewards report for today. The race in question the stewards did actually question Denis O’Connell as to why he gave Petes Dash no cover despite having the opportunity to on at least 2 occasions! It doesnt say what Mr O’Connells reason was which will be very interesting? The stewards have adjourned the matter till a later date! There is only one reason that he could have given, which is that I am nlt a very good driver! If there is any integrity whatsoever, there has to be a indefinite suspension to the license and back to the trials for 6 months at least!
