Yeah right! A mare that needs to go to the paddock Ranga! She is not going to win anything from the unruly and she will gallop if she is in the field! Pointless racing her until she knows how to pace, too many issues! Even if she ever won a race it is going to cost a heck of a lot more in training fees to make it a worthwhile effort!!!

Driver tells Stewards where to shove the whip rules!!
Brodie replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Just watched the replay of the said race on April 21st that the Stipes didnt like the way Ian Cameron used the whip! Absolutely pathetic If this is what harness racing has become! Seriously it is well overdue that the drivers all got together to go up against these bullies and they need to get HRNZ to have the stupid rule corrected!!! How on earth can anyone have any confidence in harness racing when the ones controlling and making the rules are total DICKHEADS? -
Yay she is back again for another chance to race allowed by the Stipes! Race 2 Ashburton over 1700 metres, Terry Chmiel in the cart again! I suppose being only over 1700m on the big track and UNRULY it gives her only 1700metres to gallop. The track is likely to be damp so maybe this will give her a chance to stay down without galloping? Would be good if she she could possibly pace the whole race so that the loyal who keep thinking she could win get an opportunity! The truth of the matter is that this horse has had more chances than it deserved and should have been banned for a lengthy period! The thing is the Stipes are too busy hammering drivers like Ian Cameron that actually want to win the race they are in!!!!

It really is sickening that these socalled Stiles are allowed to fine and suspend drivers for doing nothing that a punter wouldnt want them to do! As The Galah just stated, there were many drivers that gave their horses absolutely no chance of running a place by just sitting there and not trying!!!!!!!an owner of those horses that werent given a chance by their drivers!!! If I was an owner of one of those horses that werent put into the race, I would be far more pissed off than if my driver tapped my horse using an elbow movement! The Dickheads that approved the last 2 whip rules should hang their heads in shame and admit that they were Dickheads for changing a rule that actually worked!!! -

personally think Ian Cameron was a wee bit too mild with his comments! FFS drivers are being fined or suspended for wanting to win a race!!!! The last two whip rules are just blatantly stupid and the drivers should be telling the incompetent Stipes to stick their whip rule up their arse!!!! There is absolutely no INTEGRITY coming from the officialdom at all and they will drive people away from the industry! Who is this Paul Williams???? Not going to mention any names or give their initials, but there are several that are just not up to using any common sense and are on the gravy train. The trainers and drivers are out in all weathers and working massive hours for very little financial return! These fat cats that are fining the drivers and affecting their livelihood with pathetic decisions do very little and will be rewarded financially for mediocrity!! Racing Integrity has gone out the back door with this current lot!!!! -
Gamma, not too sure you shouldve put that last line??

What I do know is if Michael House dies go to the gallopers then u would say Palmerston North is Goooone!

Ricky May’s drive on Bettorlini was not great and as I say he probably admits it in hindsight! However, these things do happen and Matthew Williamson’s drive on Gypsy yesterday was a shocker as well, from a driver that represented NZ at the world drivers champs ! Havent checked to see whether he was asked about it from the Stipes? Gypsy was very poorly driven last start as well as Matthew did not appear too interested as he stayed on the fence and got held up badly! Yes I backed it last start and said never again! Yesterday when very short, Matthew put the horse in the race by easing early and then making a run at the 1400m and sitting parked and gone at the 400metres, easily beaten! Now anyone that follows Canterbury racing should know that Gypsy was going to stop as it needs a sit! Not sure at all what he was thinking as he was never going to get to the front? Racing is like that, we think as punters that we know what we are doing and then we are wrecked by the drivers actions which basically is what governs whether we win or lose! Personally do not think there was any skullduggery going on with the Loyalist/ Bettorlini race and as The Galah states, it takes very little to alter odds on a fixed odds bet, especially if they know who the punter is! Harness racing is struggling in NZ and has been for a long time and this Covid BS has certainly not helped. We all need to hang in there to get thru this and we are not being helped at the moment by several paid parties who in my humble opinion are doing a crap job!

You shouldnt feel hurt Nina, you , Greg and Ben do a fantastic job for harness racing, always to my mind professional. As you will be well aware there has always been stable talk etc. and that will always continue. Personally dont think the Hope stable stable drive and Ricky is not normally such an aggressive driver as you would know better than most! Not sure why Ricky didnt hand up to Tim and in hindsight he probably be first to admit it, as he cooked your horse and Grant Paynes horse! At the end of the day the race is run and as in every race there is a winner and more losers. I backed Loyalist at it previous start reasonably heavily as I thought it would go well from the stand, however it missed away and was never in the race after that! That is racing and we move on! Keep up your great work, you deserve the great results that you get, but maybe a quiet word in Ricky’s ear to hand up if Tim comes a calling!

Just read an article on HRNZ that says they have employed Ollie Partridge to look at how to improve the GROSS BETTING REVENUE for harness racing! What a brilliant idea, finally they want to increase the GROSS BETTING REVENUE which overall will increase the NETT BETTING REVENUE! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? I have an idea that HRNZ could possibly put to the NZ TAB! I wonder if the NZ TAB let the punters bet on harness racing rather than stopping punters, whether this could possibly increase turnover????? The fact is that the NZ TAB didnt think that their gross yield on harness racing was high enough so they set out to improve the gross yield!! How would we get gross yield up the Suits who are paid big money thought! If we restrict certain punters to pathetic amounts and bring in the AML rule so we can control who bets with us, then the yield will increase!!!! So with this the gross yield did increase, however the amount of REVENUE they could get drops, but hey what a grest job we have done!! The TAB business plan is TOTALLY FLAWED and they should be increasing turnover. What they are doing is detrimental to harness racing by driving punters away from betting on harness racing! You only need to look at how many people you now see oncourse and betting on harness at the TAB outlets. Reality should have hit them by now they are flogging a dead horse with their current pathetic policies! Harness racing is stuffed totally unless they entice punters back in good numbers, and by trying to control punters by restricting punters to amounts not worth collecting is detrimental to running a prospering business! They will say they are doing harness racing a favour by increasing yield, but they would be far more successful if they increased turnover and increased oncourse participation! Makes too much sense, so hard to see them doing anything different as they are only concerned about GROSS YIELD rather than NETT PROFIT!!!!

Gamma why would I bag anyone for commenting on the Premier Racing Blog Site? None of us are getting remuneration for expressing an opinion! The Stipes and RIU employees are getting remunerated for their efforts and unfortunately I believe a lot of their decision making is very poor! They are a protected lot and never have to answer to anyone for these poor decisions that do affect the participants in racing that are keeping those employees in employment!
-
Doesnt matter how good your horse is if the driver is no good! A poor driver could get Sundee Son beaten! I offload on horses often that have drivers with very poor UDR’s on the basis that the horse only needs to be driven reasonably well to pay a dividend!!!!! However, this horse with the poor driver is driven poorly and is unlucky! What you learn when you back a horse with a driver that has a low UDR is that chances are your horse needs a little bit more than luck! There is a reason that Blair Orange, John Dunn, Tim Williams etc. have good UDR’s.
-
To be fair, you see poor drives in every race and mostly never questioned. Stewards turn a blind eye to most things including horses that gallop every start! Of course Ricky should have handed up to Tim as he would have trailed the rest of the race, as Tim would not have handed up! The runs of Loyalist from last start to yesterday’s run Was like chalk and cheese, and I backed it last start and it went poor! The thing with harness racing is the unpredictability of how a race is run by drivers decisions! The fact that Loyalist likes a fast pace is what the difference was between both its last 2 starts. The horse had a good run on the outside yesterday whereas the start before The different driver never put the horse in the race. Rangiora you can not come wide from the back, and be in it! Pointless questioning drivers as nothing ever happens anyway.

So is there any logical reason why the odds aren’t out yet?
-
So the Brains Trust have placed the perrenial galloper Lizzie Richter on the unruly list for Mobiles??????? WTF???? How stupid are these Stipes?????? Just another pathetically stupid decision from our professionals that are in charge of ensuring that racing is being run with integrity! Go figure, apparently you are allowed to gallop in every race and that is OK with our Stipes! Hopefully the owner of Lizzie Richter will retire the mare as it is going to continue to be a financial disaster continuing to pay training bills for a horse that would be far better suited racing at Riccarton Park! The decisions of the Stipes are mind boggling!
-
Yes she has got speed but she should not be allowed to race with her atrocious behaviour of galloping in every race but one or tso. Being sent to the trials to perform is just ridiculous as she only runs against a few nags! Be interesting to see what our so called Stipes do this time as she needs to be ousted for a lengthy period or indefinitely! How she has got away with her antics all her career is hard to fathom. She had all sorts of head gear and coverings today and still gallops and how is she going to win when she continues to have such bad behaviour? Some horses get put on the unruly with one gallop and yet this Lizzie Richter gets away with it every start!
-
If Lizzie Richter isn’t banned from racing for at least 6 months then the Stipes and RIU are pathetic. How on earth can anyone have any confidence in them when they have been acting totally irresponsibly by allowing this pig to race? Seriously a horse that has galloped in just about every race and is not unruly is just ridiculous! Retire the mare to the paddock before it causes harm!
-
Looks like she has to be running along in front or she gallops. Dont think the 2 trials showed that she is going to be able to race in a field without galloping. If she does gallop today needs to be out for 6 months and why is she not on the Unruly?
-
She is back, racing today at Rangiora and not even UNRULY!!! How many damn chances does this rogue of a horse get?? She has drawn out a bit which may help, but seriously what are the odds of her not galloping?? If she gallops today the Stipes need to pull their heads in and put her out for life!! Going to be an interesting watch.
-
Ranga, it is not their personal money!!! Yes they are paid to get the best result for their employer being the TAB! However their business plan is totally flawed. If NZ wants a harness racing future they seriously need to be encouraging people to enter the industry, i.e. Owners trainers drivers and PUNTERS! Without the $ from the punters in NZ the industry is totally stuffed and the TAB will only be operating on Sports and overseas racing! Any Dickhead can set odds that are UNDERS and leave them there, they need to be encouraging the wagering! The tote pools nowadays are pathetic and clearly shows that they are not getting the casual punter onboard!
-
Looking thru tonights Addington fixed odds, there are so many horses that odds appear far too short for what they should be, but we expect that from the Bookies! The thing is that if there is no money for a horse then they should be lengthening them out slightly to encourage wagering! By leaving them at UNDERS all it does is not encourage the punters to offload and by lengthening them out in the last few minutes misses so many would be punters! Yes they want to be SAFE however the odds are always in the TABs favour so to increase the turnover and therefore the profit, they need to alter their current policy of offering fixedodds that are under what they should be until the last few minutes!!

Correct

Not sure nowadays Ranga. i do know that several years ago there were no restricted gallops punters! Reason being is that gallops form is impossible and people that punt on gallops are not exactly playing with a full deck!
