Damn, thought Speeding Spur would have dragged Monty into it. A nose from 3rd and still trucking, great result for Monty as he wasnt mentioned in dispatches by anyone in the commentary before the race. Some disappointing runs in behind, no one was prepared to move apart from the second horse. Strange race.

Go the underdog. Gooooo. Whooooop. Yuusssss -
Quite correct Basil. They are doing nothing illegal, they have built an Empire that is chugging along quite nicely. But Empires come and go, and I think it is disingenuous to attribute Harness racing's troubles to one stable. It goes much deeper than that. Make Hay while the sun shines for the AS barn and to the rest keep at it and results will follow, eventually.

I hope Pats Delight shuts them ALL up frankly. If he happens to get to the front it might be all on. I just hope the race is run at a decent clip from the start, so those favoured ones have to work to get handy. Going to be a noisy lounge room tonite, especially with Monty in as well. -
Auckland Harness Tonight- Loving the big divs!!!!

I see Chicago Bulls full brother ran reasonably well first up. -
During his reign at the top as a 2 and 3 yr old, what was it 24 straight?. His opposition were ,apart from Shakamaker and one other Revenes I think , useless to put it bluntly. One of the weakest bunch of youngsters one could imagine which made him look good. Im not denigrating the horses ability just stating the obvious here.

Interesting.!. Mind you I have been criticised by experts before ,so water off a ducks back. To me Racecafe has been a non entity since deciding to join BOAY, which has a more " loving " atmosphere about it which I enjoy.

Kiwis At ID 18: Is it worth watching?

God forbid that would happen.lol. I'm not bagging AS , they do a wonderful job but it's nice when the underdog comes up trumps. The Aussies are not going to sit back and gift this final to us so expect some fireworks. -

Apart from my money having gone on Pat, I thought Galactic Star has been running some great races and from the ace will get a good run. Bit short still though, but leys face it ,anyone winning apart from AS would keep me happy. -
One of my neighbour's is part of the Manawatu Board running the track. We had a street Xmas party on Sunday and talking to him it doesn't sound like they are shutting up any time soon. I could talk to him again and answer some of your questions.

I disagree partly. One major difference is the ability to discard those horses that do not show enough aptitude or potential, and still have enough stock left with the ability to win majors. That one thing is not afforded the majority of trainers. I agree with Galah on the point of other trainers having similar skills and knowledge, just not the Empire the Purdons have built up.

Terrible track Cranbourne. No banking and short straight. Had to make your move early as no chance trying to come from the back . Just hope Pat and Monty get reasonable draws in their finals.
-
No, Pats Delight. Come on get real.?
-
Well, thats two in a row. Mind boggling. Gee I wish I had stuck more on.urrghh. Ride my luck for the three peat?. Watch this post for my nxt installment.?

Laugh at this one. The other day I mentioned that little portfolio of horses one remembers bobbing up at odd times. Lilac Star the other night at 8s for the place. Tonight Alex R2 Crackared. Will stick a few on for some fun.
-
I will give you my Tab account no. Chuck in some money if you are at a loss. 50/50 split if I win.?
-
No , longer distance will suit I think. Are the wheels going to fall off Tornado Valley or is he the real deal?. Quite exceptional rise to the top ranks. One of the mitigating factors for backing Pats Delight apart from the fact I think he is headed for the top is , wait for it Brodie, he isn't in the Purdon barn. Even I am beginning to grin when they lose to someone else.
-
Pats Delight $6.50 ff. Forget Cruz Bromac, get on.
-
Over the years you build up a portfolio of horses you remember popping up at certain meetings at good odds. Tonight was one of them. Unfortunately I decided to save my money for the Interdoms and didn't back it. Bugger me the horse ,Lillac Star pops up at 8.30 for the place. Ughh.

As an update to Montys run. The poor horse has been unlucky as it transpires . Kyvalley Blur clipped his back wheel as they turned for home and punctured his wheel. Ants reckoned he would have run 2nd or 3rd at that stage ,but he trucked on up the straight pulling a blown wheel. And now he has drawn out in the car park again for the 3rd heat, cant win sometimes . Being over 2550 mtrs at least he will be able to get into it at some stage , and he backs up pretty well on hard racing. And being a dedicated fan and having my TAB account well looked after by him, moneys on Pats Delight in the Final . (barring accidents).

So much for sticking with with Motu Meteor for a place at nice odds. Pats Delight went within a whisker of the track record on his ear. And good run by Monty from our there , kept on trucking, but Kyvalley Blur the eyeopener after the first night's effort.
-
No it reads " man with hand in pocket feels cocky all day."
-
Sticking with Motu Meteor in that. Good run for 4th and drawn well to take up a prominent position, interesting race this one. And Pats Delight, just wins from there, tough horse can't see past him . And of course , hoping Monty can get a drag up and get close in his heat to add to his points .Tough from out there over the mile but he is if nothing else a gritty sort. Good times

Priceless Happy. Gee ,sad to see Prestonpans go. Shouda sent him to the Trittons, he liked to lead . Install some handlebars on his bonce and you got a frontrunner with plenty of ticker. Will watch his progress with interest. -

Great gutsy run by my fav Pats Delight, and our Monty toughed it out after sitting parked the whole way for 4th. Unfortunately Monty drawn 2nd line over the sprint distance while Santa has 3 off the front but up againsted Tornado Valley and Speeding Spur .
