  1. Tommy TomTom, you didn't answer the question ...
  2. does no-one in the media these day know the difference between a benefactor and a beneficiary... lord help me
  3. a shame that ...but never fear.. .the family still has Rideitlikustoleit to take on all comers
  4. just re-reading this thread Jess ..I am in no way an undercover Westbury Weasel ...if you'd like the little memento I snaffled for you from Mr Redwood, I will need a convenient postal address to send it to, perhaps that ofa third party if you are concerned I am a some kind of Stalking Mustelid LOL
  5. great to see this thread has moved on from Thomass's BS to discussion on one of, (if not THE) all-time great singers of all time. Sigh.
  6. Media often receive info from official sources with an 'embargo', Reefton. And many of the big breeding organisations will have been directly involved with Messara, so you have to cut them some slack. They know a lot about the issues being grappled with. Key point is that their quoted comments in Stuff article weren't made to the journo PRIOR to the Report being released, as Curious (and others) could easily conclude from a reading of the article. They would have been asked for comment SUBSEQUENT to the dinner evening!
  7. Saw the show today... a little hesitant/tentaive whcxih is to be expected 'first up'. Dominated by Guerin, who is not afraid to air his knowledge. Made some sound points re Messara Report,. Hopefully the other two get to have their say a lot more as the weeks go on. Otherwise it will have to renamed: Guer In.
  8. ..but you probably have other disappointed owners to talk to and one in the next to saddle up and supervise Yes, like Michelle Bradley, 32 at Ruakaka yesterday ...and Chris Gibbs on a well-deserved break, in Dunedin for the Pink concert!
  9. Curious..I think you are misreading / misinterpreting the breeders' comments. Typical of the media, the Stuff HEADLINE suggests/implies something 'wrong' (ie Winston giving the well-heeled the inside running) ...but the breeders comments quoted have come AFTER the release of the Messara Report not on Wednesday night at the dinner. Catching my drift? As always the media look for comments from the glitterati and ignore most/all of the others - so Stuff's article lacks balance, being top-heavy on the response of the wealthy breeders only.
  10. Here's the man his-self...at the Stallion Parade a week ago. Looks magnificent.
  11. Hawke's Bay RI | Saturday 1 September 31 Aug Friday Morning Weather: Fine Track: Slow 8 Track: True | 6mm Rain Last 24 Hours Weather and track updated at 8.40am Friday 31 August Bugger, thought I had pulled the right rein for a change there, Hesi!! Tightwad!!N LOL
  12. I don't think the moaners were moaning about just 'making a change', PD ..but there are probably more worthy contenders for that Award than BGP. As the driving force for BGP, Luke deserves recognition, eventually. But the older generation(s) you refer to, who are still passionate about the industry have given decades of time, energy, money and support to keep the industry alive. You seem to forget that this industry is about PEOPLE and HORSES - not digital technology or money or marketing or betting. While on that subject, Messara's Report has many worthwhile recommendation. The one I'd like reconsidered is the name: WageringNZ. Dumb name. People will mix it up with Wages... Someone needs to come up with something better! BETTORNZ /BETNZ / BETTERNZ ????
  13. how can Trackside content/presenters be independent when it is owned and operated by NZRB?
  14. ..and having said that... I don't think they should have won the Award either...nor should A Rodley or any of the Trackside presenters. I had the misfortune to cop Mark Claydon (?) and Peter Early on air on Radio this arvo ...one sounds likea clothes peg is awkwardly place in his sinuses \; and the other cannot stop himself from saying the word 'there' 20 times per minute.
  15. they are using primarily social media to generate a new (younger) generation to embrace horse racing at a number of levels - betting, owning (ie syndicates)
  16. I disagree with that view, Hedley. "All the smaller trainers" will simply have to adjust to the challenge of relocating to where the services and facilities are ... some may not be willing to change...that's their prerogative...but you cant continue to operate 57 race tracks in a country this long and skinny with a population of 5 million...
  17. JS/AP/SOM/WYND/SC/MAG Here's my list of non-winners tomorrow Tarzino... Take all these in a box trifecta and you'll make plenty, cos I'm usually wrong!
  18. Can I have some of that please Captain My Captain?
  19. Common sense really...for a public forum to be treated with respect and as a credible sounding board for the industry it has to be operated professionally, with maturity and respect for its contributors (and their various opinions) and stay out of the gutter in terms of language/tone/attitude to issues.
  20. Oh dear. Tommy Tom Tom ...at the risk of repeating everyone else everyone else ...your comments re SENASSY are fine but they beg the question....if you knoew this before the race, why oh why didn't you impress us all with your wisdom by telling us before the race...duh!!! Hang on...I think I know the answer...it's because you only knew which example to use AFTER the race... it's just a pity we are not as flocking DUMB as you want us to be! LOL
  21. Well said MM ..I am disappointed that KFE has been noticeably quiet in the aftermath. As a PR expert she may have advised herself to keep her head below the parapet for a while, but as Chairman of a very high profile and important racing organisation she should be showing better leadership qualities ..ie explaining what happened; apologising for it; outlining all actions that are being taken to deal with the consequences; and prevention measures. That's what a Chairman should be doing in these circumstances, IMO. As you say, accountability.
  22. Ask Thomasss.. he will know.
  23. The Other Half is the fourth horse from the Volksraad mare Philippa Glass to win this month !! I'll av Bubbles; Vintage Stock ; I'll 'ava 'alf - all three won within a week of each other earlier in August
