  1. Crickey the food safety laws these days, paper work and audits, especially the supermarkets, average Joe wouldn't have a clue how stringent they are, and then you see some of the takeaways or food providers, seem way less stringent rules, no offense Joe b.
  2. Think they must of dined on kangaroo they other night, seemed to have more spring in their step.
  3. Interesting what you would pay for a whole lamb these days, especially from an a licensed meat retailer, given there prices per kg, I'm a purist and all those marinades take away the lamb flavor for me, but each to their own.
  4. Cutlets in nz be 40$ and some per kg, lamb racks be very similar.
  5. That's a special price to, usually 31.99kg, nz meat way over priced.
  6. May have trained a horse called Mutual Belle tidy performer, also one called wandering star from memory, was many a year back probably a few more I've forgotten.
  7. Top effort under 70kg, looked like he may have botched a jumped just before the run home, was a little hard to tell if it was him or not, could have been the difference at the finish, good to see raise the flag, flying agent, also running well.
  8. Yes agree, one would think so, I been trying to remember the horse that hunter was riding at the time of his accident, I think it may have been a first time jumper, bloody sad when this happens and the grief left behind for family, friends and racing people alike.
  9. Also Ashlee Mundy who was riding at kurow, and the last nasty fall at rangiora, was the end for racing on the track, still hold trials there quite regularly, have not heard of any issues with those. I not sure but i thought Hunter Thomas may have been riding a jumper, and maybe Ray Hewinson to, Hunter was apprenticed to the late Ray Harris I think, stand to be corrected if anyone out there knows.
  10. That's barking mad.
  11. Cheers for the explanation
  12. Anyone enlighten me what MAAT stands for.
  13. What year did diamond pal win it, it can't remember that win, but can recall ronganui win three from memory, red baron, Magellan maybe not sure, all counted another that springs to mind but may have only been placed.was there the day empire rose won the cup, what a mighty mare she was in all forms.
  14. Anyone know how they went
  15. Yes, easy for most to say just pack up and head for the lucky country, and not just the cost of flying horses over, then getting a suitable property, all big costs involved in setting up, and having the stock to compete, see the stable has a couple in today, good luck to them, I'll be watching on, hopefully they can go well, they do say fortune favours the brave.
  16. I imagine wouldn't be a cheap exercise freighting a team over there, so that 66k go some of the way, but how much one would wonder.
  17. Guess that good racing and stakes over there are tough to win, haven't follow all of his team, have they the track conditions to suit, his team prefers the soft stuff.
  18. You missed one of the best, Durban Cheif won two dominions and was first New Zealand horse to win at his first ever start in America, was that good made the top trotters in the book un hoppled heroes, not to many win two dominions, first one controversial as beaten a narrow margin by recruit, but recruit galloped over the line and was relegated much to the disgust of his connections, I think from memory went on to win 32 races in America, not to many can boast those stats, out of the ds mentioned.
  19. Don't forget the mighty trotter that won two dominions that also started with D
  20. You hit the nail on the head there, and those figures are just ambo staff, imagine how many staff across the board in all industries due to mandates, but they don't seem to mention these numbers, when there short of critical workers, poor nurses still on the bench, mean while remaining workers are pushed to the extreme to cover.Sad state of affairs
  21. Fair call, has just bought back a few memories with one I was involved with, and yes easy to get frustrated with others deciding for you, I was always of the opinion they raced him to much, and on unsuitable tracks at times, gave him 4 starts in 6 weeks and then a 2500m race leading into the New Zealand cup, was surprised he actually stood up to what was asked of him, but alas it came to an end with tendon issues, main thing he went to a good home and is enjoying his retirement.
  22. Why would you, would seem a waste of time and money, or are owners in a hurry to get them to races
  23. Isn't the case of winter horses for winter racing, 99% of the time we know what winter conditions bring, some will be well suited some not, wouldn't you base your plan on which ever conditions suit your horse.
  24. That is correct, horses had to win at Westport then Reefton and then on the all weather track at greymouth, started at 20k I think and may have dropped to 10k at some stage, hunter is correct, Wilbur win trained by bill Cummings I think, and Steven John by the J Rodgers from memory, but do stand to be corrected, was many a year ago, just like the first ever triple dead heat also at Westport.
  25. I can recall seeing a clipping from an old newspaper paper, allakasaam here I am, I can recall following one of her progeny, just on breeding, it won one race from memory, but was a long time ago.
