Well at that cost to the industry it should be resucing the cost of areas like mare returns, naming etc in a very siginificant manner - well you would want to think so, but will they let go of the money spinner those areas are?

Yep you'd have to think so. I just love how they have a habit of giving themselves a pat of the back for soing things the industry has been suggesting for sometime , like starters incentives. Average field size will be an anomaly , they are too naive to realise that. That has been assisted by the Covid situation and reduction in racing venues, but breeders and owners are racting to that just look at the potential foal crops coming through.

Probably the most dissapointing appointment we have had in years, can't think any positive to come out of it. Has dived and destroyed parts of the industry and is off on his bike before it all really catches fire!

True , don't think this one leaving before the inadequacies are found out though. Perhaps the comment on racing knowledge is because they already know who the new CEO is.

Wow now I understand why the advert was written in the manner it was, not enough cadence in that company profile if you ask me. But then I wouldn't know becuase I don't have the systems and processes or the skillset for that manner to provide anyone with any confidence in what I am writing. Not sure anyone here is capable of making a calculated intervention that would allow me to greater productivity and some sort of positive commercial outcome either and most certainly no added value!

What success are they building on? - I've never known the sport to be in such bad shape and heading further into oblivion! Why does someone need to be emotionally Intelligent for this role? Need to be able to cry when all finally falls to bits? What is Cadence? Biking to work for climate change? It says State of track , so presumably may have been a slip or something? Only in NZ can you move a meeting due to fears of abandonment & then abandon said meeting!

Yep the true heart & soul of the sport, but they realise that over there whilst we continue on our slippery slope to no where attempting to kill off country racing and a helluva a lot of support for the sport You're so right about the silly M Report!

Centralisation it really works!

Even with their extraordinary prize money over there, they still get what many of us having been saying over here for years about looking after the base of the industry.

NZRACING Industry- What's a plan?

Those type are all the same, won't go to Aus to race cause it would mean they are likely in the same situation as the rest of us horse wise.

and this is where we go wrong, our administrators , naive owners etc look at this and think we need an Everest, Eagle or a Slipper (in our case read Champions Day, Breeders Champs etc)to change things around when what we really need is the building blocks in place to allow us to strive to have such events not these events at the expense of the building blocks!

and he is only the tip of the ice berg with that in mind ... plenty of others should have gone to pasture years ago, but the cash is too easy and the accountability near zero , perfect for many!!

I agree it wouldn't be hard, but I think at present they use the thoughts of a few of the bigger stable and base it around that, well that appears to be the case. It wouldn't be hard to set up a system for it , but instead we get a 2yo race at Otaki that had 4 in yesterday, 6 in 2 years ago (no race last year cause of Covid) , 5 in 2 years prior to that - hello something is wrong !

Despite that, surely its possible to use jumpouts /trials/trackwork to guage what is ahead. Not the industry fault if NZTR haven't engaged enough to get a handle on this , perhaps its a job for the COO to look at , but as I've said before unless its a copy paste exercise there is no hope of it happening - largely because they haven't got a clue how it works, or simply do not care. If trainers thought by them doing something they would get something out of it i.e. vote for races required at race meetings etc they would do it, I have no doubt about that, but that needs to be communicated to them by those running the show. Also by doing that they wouldn't be able to make it up as they go along for the benefit of a few in the industry which means it probably won't happen. Absolute no innovation in our local industry , no new ideas too worried the establishment won't like them - thats one of the main reasons we are on the road to no where (not entirely true I guess oblivion is a destination).

How hard can it be? You plan a route to the bigger races on the pattern i.e. Derby, Oaks , Gunieas , Cups (Aus are superb at this it flows like melting chocolate) etc and you programme races that are likely to be in high demand. I can't understand why every single race meeting does'nt have a 1200,1400,1600 & 2000m race or equivalent in the maiden ranks at industry level , its a no brainer surely these are usually the races trainers are planning for their horses. How hard would it be to set up a voting system in the online trainers centre for what races trainers are looking for in a month or two months time, how hard is it to plan races around what a meeting in that region had a fortnight or month beforehand? But probably like everything in the sport in this country its been hijacked by self interest!
