  1. Yes instead of worrying about their gambling, the lockdowns made them worry about their livelihoods.
  2. I dont think beggars can be choosers.
  3. Perhaps it shows just how dependent we are on those smaller punters that go along week in week out ,who may not be bothered with the card deposits.
  4. For the sake of the industry certainly hope so.
  5. There are alot of people who venture into racing who get a slow one and think they have been scammed, racing can be a very long game.
  6. At this early stage it looks like only the Valley could upset Zaaki, Elephant appeared to handle it well.
  7. They'd have to be pretty happy with that run, looks a good un alright.
  8. If it happens here the leadership will say look at the nice Strathyr we got in at Ellerslie , isn't it great!
  9. Wow that is a real worry, have to think today a few short priced favs missed out so the bookies must have been happy on it. However 25k for a race like that sums up well where we are heading.
  10. Yes 11k & 5k in the 2yo at Wanganui, however probably put that down to lack of form. But the next at TR doesn't look inspiring.
  11. You mean the AWTs or the Grass tracks, cause if its the Grass tracks they are that silly they'll probably try to sell them.
  12. Certainly take your point regarding the interest in the local product, however my beef is with the distribution of the stakes. Throwing money about for so called Premier or Feature meetings etc won't solve the industry woes, it needs a better spread for the very reason I've mentioned i.e. no interest in the local product. It won't happen though as evidenced by the names mentioned and many many of the decisions being made amongst them the over reliance on the AWTs - just can't for the life of me see how they are good for the industry apart from as a preparation tool (but surely there were cheaper options available if that was the case) , I'm not hearing anyone saying they are loving punting on them either - thats a worry no matter what the powers that be say. - But I'm digressing!
  13. I don't know who they all are , but from those lists I can see why they didn't want to increase the base stakes, hey just a smaller example of the Peters money from years ago - all the same and nothing changes!
  14. When you have people like BS who think top stakes need topping up before the lower end stakes it says everything about the industry. Dont waste your time on a Saturday when there is great Aus racing on hand.
  15. Like everything in nzracing - absolute transparency for those that get a seat at the table.
  16. Not sure, have to admit haven't paid much attention to it , it's such a snorefest to me the whole awt racing.
  17. I'll be cheering him home, he is exactly what we need in racing in this country at the moment. I'll back something else should help him out ; )
  18. Well unlike some others I have every faith the AWT will continue to be a success, our leaders have told us so and have been open and transparent about their performance to date. I'm sure this is just a minor blip, wait till Riccarton & Awapuni get up and running , then we will really know what success is!
  19. That problem doesn't just sit with them, it's the advice they get that keeps the distribution like this. You only have to look at who benefits from it to understand it.
  20. I'm "Positive" they'll say too much racing around after COVID!
  21. I think CS is trying to make a point, trainers have/not... lots/none... money...so are ok/not ok to pay fines? Am I getting close CS?
  22. Would $600k go far in an operation like theirs? i.e. 10% of Prize$ from last season.
  23. That's what I thought, the Aus pools are hard to get a line on (non comingled), just worrying a bit with the level of interest on the NZ product I'd have thought not much else on there might have been some serious interest in them. R7 12k win pool, 8k place pool
  24. R4 Cambridge $10k in Win Pool, $6k in place pool , you'd hope there was lot of Fixed odds betting going on?
