  1. and spread its wings a bit further int he industry, the stories that exist aren't just about the winners or 5 stables
  2. Not Catalyst but watching that trial at Taupo , what a beast Call Sign Mav has matured into. Very handsome boy!
  3. More luuurve racing stories?
  4. Wait...what I thought it had been rebranded as Te Akau TV!
  5. You summed it all up.
  6. Thas no different than a horse jumping on the plane to go to Aus for better working conditions, NZ will never compete.
  7. What about if they said in NZ that all the people that don't get vaccinated have to go to the races in NZ - surely that would be a great way to push Vac rates through the roof in this country?
  8. They'll for sure do it here as well.
  9. My thoughts exactly, comments like that are a real concern and indeed the reason the industry is in the state it is in.
  10. We are lucky here we have BS experience to get us through any rough patches we may hit on the AWTs.
  11. No different than several other expensive experience, I've had terrible holidays, cars I haven't been happy with etc etc etc all about the experience, not to mention it can be very character building . See alot of owners who come into the sport think getting a Winx or Luxury Liner is normal when we all know its anything but.
  12. Yes instead of worrying about their gambling, the lockdowns made them worry about their livelihoods.
  13. I dont think beggars can be choosers.
  14. Perhaps it shows just how dependent we are on those smaller punters that go along week in week out ,who may not be bothered with the card deposits.
  15. For the sake of the industry certainly hope so.
  16. There are alot of people who venture into racing who get a slow one and think they have been scammed, racing can be a very long game.
  17. At this early stage it looks like only the Valley could upset Zaaki, Elephant appeared to handle it well.
  18. They'd have to be pretty happy with that run, looks a good un alright.
  19. If it happens here the leadership will say look at the nice Strathyr we got in at Ellerslie , isn't it great!
  20. Wow that is a real worry, have to think today a few short priced favs missed out so the bookies must have been happy on it. However 25k for a race like that sums up well where we are heading.
  21. Yes 11k & 5k in the 2yo at Wanganui, however probably put that down to lack of form. But the next at TR doesn't look inspiring.
  22. You mean the AWTs or the Grass tracks, cause if its the Grass tracks they are that silly they'll probably try to sell them.
  23. Certainly take your point regarding the interest in the local product, however my beef is with the distribution of the stakes. Throwing money about for so called Premier or Feature meetings etc won't solve the industry woes, it needs a better spread for the very reason I've mentioned i.e. no interest in the local product. It won't happen though as evidenced by the names mentioned and many many of the decisions being made amongst them the over reliance on the AWTs - just can't for the life of me see how they are good for the industry apart from as a preparation tool (but surely there were cheaper options available if that was the case) , I'm not hearing anyone saying they are loving punting on them either - thats a worry no matter what the powers that be say. - But I'm digressing!
  24. I don't know who they all are , but from those lists I can see why they didn't want to increase the base stakes, hey just a smaller example of the Peters money from years ago - all the same and nothing changes!
