  1. Its interesting isn't it, obviously still a lot of water to go under the bridge before they get the track and stakes in place, but that hasn't stopped the usual lot celebrating it like its already happened. Personally I'd prefer to see a Strathyr where the horse population is , but I guess when it comes to NZracing anything is better than nothing.
  2. Perhaps thats where NZTR come in. I guess if it is they get the amalgamation over the line first then start on the emotional blackmail with Avondale, you know calling them out for not wanting to be part of the future of nzracing etc etc.
  3. It's that type of thinking Fairy Flash that has got us to where we are today i.e. only a few industry participants , owners clubs and their opinions matter and if they don't like it they can stuff off! I'm even of the opinion as silly as your opinions are you still have the right to have a say about it all.
  4. Disgusting for the young fella having this dragged into the papers, hang your head in shame Thomas if you had anything to do with this!
  5. But it works in Aus. and where just copy everything they do over there, so can't understand why it won't work here. There are horses for Ellerslie , just as there are horses for Reefton or Waverley they all find their mark.
  6. I think you've hit the nail on the head there and I can't say I blame them. Only Fairy Flash would have confidence in NZTR at this point.
  7. Do you honestly believe any other clubs barring about 5 or 6 in NZ joining together (in particular provincial clubs) would get given race dates or industry support for doing so? Absolutely no chance of that!
  8. I can't help but see how a Strathyr is anything but good for racing in NZ , I certainly hope they get that far. But I struggle to see how its good for the rest of the country, having said that I think most of damage it may have caused is in motion as we speak at any rate. Also struggle to understand the point of the AWT if this Strathyr gets going. As for people calling it a merger well thats just a joke!
  9. Looks like NZ racing is saved - Hooray !!!
  10. The industry day(s) would suffice for a club like this & many others of its ilk. Plenty would still support it and it's something in racing in NZ that has always worked. However under present leadership there is no chance of this for obvious reasons coming to fruition right before our eyes. What irks me most about these decisions is they are getting rid of something that really works for the industry & outside of funding has any real high degree of cost to the industry & replacing it with the same standardised fare that has proven to be very average.
  11. Is it true NZTR are looking for a COO? That cannot not be right, I mean along side having a CEO as well?
  12. I can't see how TAB cannot perform better than recent years, given the significant cost savings they have made in the past 12-18 months, my biggest concern still is NZTR lack of leadership, direction and self interest , no matter what the TAB does.
  13. Well I can see $500k thats going to waste straight away in that fund for innovative clubs charade, be better spent on lower end stakes or splitting fields or whatever gets the product out there, can't see any innovation from the clubs that are going to get it that would do anything to generate further wagering on the product and why do they need it in the first place when they have full time Marketing personnel / CEO and staff at a lot of these clubs?
  14. This won't do a thing to improve the area that so desperately needs it, the "coalface" that JJ Flash is operating at. A $2k increase in stakes , won't be noticed within 3 months (if that). We have a exponentially declining foal crop amongst other big issues, this is largely because the coalface are abandoning the sport . I get tired of saying it , but the base needs solidifying first before the rest of the industry can improve, it needs more than pocket change to do that. We are gonna throw another $10k at a lot of 6-8 horse fields , why?
  15. Ho hum - coal face , you call taking a 2% share in a few horses the coalface lmao!
  16. Apparently there is $500k set aside for innovative racing clubs or something like that, so thats just another way of siphoning off funds to the protected few.
  17. Stop playing the man and start play the ball "TAB Fairy" - tell us all how good this stakes distribution is going to be for the industry? I'm all ears , the floor is open to you tell us how this is all going to play out and make the industry better? Especially for those people at the coalface .
  18. I'm not sure they are robbing the asset rich for the poor, I think they are robbing them for the rich. Many of those mentioned in the articles in your previous posts.
  19. Agree, I'm picking it will be at Te Aroha. I think they should use one of the under utilised tracks and turn it into a jumping mecca. But they probably won't.
  20. Pleased to see some increase , but like you can't see the point in the top end increasing by $10k, I just cannot see it making a material difference. Just as I cannot see the $2k making much of a difference to an owner on an industry day. Appears as though only paying the starters fee to 10th like in Aus. so may have been some savings there.
  21. Promising? https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/NRB Meeting News/NZTR media release re stake increases.pdf
