  1. Have to say the HRNZ has to distribute the stakemoney as fairly as possible, to all still existing clubs. You still need Sponserships and Memberships (with some wealthy people involved) to make trotting clubs and race-days a GREAT PLACE to go ! People like Chris Garrard need looking after with-in the harness industry. Richard Brosnan , won at Melton Monday with a trotter. (first prize stake was just $2,200) Marburg meeting in QLD last Sunday each winner got only $1,500. not a great deal at all. But the connections COULD GET A WINNER> the critical element. Sure, you might need to win at least one race every 3 months , just to' break-even', because of the horse costs. BUT if you're winning people aren't thinking about that too much. just enjoying the wins !! NZ needs more races, that attracts more horses , that attracts more winners, That attracts more owners and interest from punters might even be possible. You won't attract punting activity on huge fields , standing starts , or poor quality. As long as people are WINNING regularly (owners and punters) they will continue to support the industry a little. (speaking for self and hopefully others) You need lots of Winners to keep owners and Punters happy !!!!!!! Smaller fields and more racing WOULD PROVIDE THIS . even if prizemoney is low. spread it thin if need be, to get these Winners!!!!
  2. Unfortunately the New Zealand bloke needed to stay sitting on his butt on his bike, in the Team Pursuit just now . He was Riding for Bronze against Australia in the '4 man team pursuit'. Unfortunately he hit a wheel of a team-mate , (just like a good trotting driver would lol,....) and his butt was now sitting flat on the valodrome track, instead of being on his bike. oh dear. so Bronze to Australia on this occasion.
  3. Not very easy at all to get a horse to run 1.50 Brodster. ? can't say there's Heaps of horses that can. 'Arms of an Angel ' (If that's the Teaz horse) had 10 wins from 14 starts was in 2016 , running 3rd in the miracle mile to Natalie in 1.48. , Likewise 'Alta Orlando ' of Dunn's , a terrific horse has a miracle mile third placing as well, in 1.48, and he did get a GROUP 1 win in 1.50 a year ago. But mostly in his other 25 starts past year, no where near running 1.50. It's a very hard mark to achieve. In recent times NZ FFAer Star Galleria arrived at McCarthy's, and only can get out a 1.51.5 mile (2 wins in 8 cracks at Menangle) And Spellbound did it !! she had a group 3 win at Menangle recently in 1.50.1 , so she is incredible. (Beaten a nose in a group 1 at Brisbane her last start in 1.52 odd ) so yes , there is one that fits the bill. I guess some of those Jewels winners like BD JOE and South Coast Arden and Akuta, would go real close to a 1.50, so maybe you're right afterall lol.......
  4. That's asking a lot of Spirit of Anzac ? . thats FFA speed.!!! will be amazing if he can do it. usual mid-week Menangle speed is 1.54-1.55 miles, and Saturday night Metro 1.51-1.52 miles. SPIRIT of ANZAC running the 1.51.8 was a fab first up run for sure yesterday. Old kiwi FFAer, CASH n FLOW rattled off 10 wins in a row last Winter-Spring in 1.49-1.50. This season (year) he only has 3 wins from 9 starts as a bit more worn out, and can only get 1.51.2- 1.51.4 mile as best now. Still got the chocolates 2 weeks ago , and paid $20 the win !! fabulous kiwi 'trier' and hope your boy 'SPIRIT' can take up the challenge you set him, and follow in Cash's footprints as a FreeForAller. .....
  5. did we ever get the 'reason ' Tim Vince handed in licence at the Wigg's training establishment? Just give Danielle Hill , the South Australia pocket dynamo a plug here as well, as she drives well like the Wigg sisters. Danielle (with only one eye after horrendous crashes) has broken her Australian record tonight !!! 6 wins (and a 2nd) on the 7 race card at Globe Derby Park SA today. wow ! that's great going she has driven 6 winners on the card on 5 Occasions now !!! Breaking her own record of being the only driver to have 6 winners on 4 occasions. Sure, they only toddle along at 2min mile-rate down there , but a fine achievement all the same.
  6. Hope you didn't see the NZ weight lifter Hubbard. She isn't going on the Hot list !!! hehehehe Try Menangle NSW then for a bet. They just let em' roll , and they all get a chance if good enough . Spirit of Anzac was enormous today first up in Oz.
  7. No , nothing found that has been reported anyway. results have been good all year. so they (stewards) used the retention barn to house the horses of Grimson and Trainor to see if performance dropped off, while they were 'under surveillance' , but it didn't.
  8. News is good Karrots with the kiwis and Aussies getting a few medals in the Japan Olympics. excellent. Great carnival in Brisbane for the harness racing seeing Amazing Dream winning a couple of big plums last month. Bad news with shitty covid , as brisbane locked down for a week , no crowds at Olympics is shitty too, for the locals there. Bad news with Nurburgring bet just now lol. The idiot was one-one and pulled out to deathseat at the mile ???> moron he was, would of won from the one-one sit. Got no idea why he did that. must of thought he was driving Gammalite lol...... and would still win.
  9. Ex-pat kiwi should be at the Olympics for producing wonderful winning performances all this year. At it again today, on a quiet Tuesday, with Spirit Of Anzac (moderate Cambridge horse with Mike Berger until recently) Spirit out of the gate in 25.7 first quarter !! holy gaucamole, !! with the rocket fuel burning bright and home in 26.5 for a 1.51.8 mile first up in 8 weeks, first start in Aus. stunning improvement, Backed off the map too on all the totes lol........ This Trainor lad is the Usain Bolt of the trots !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At Albion NURBURGRING (a better NZ performer) might be worth a look in the last race at 10-1 ,as easier race that he has seen for a while. might be too classy.
  10. Haha yeah , it's hard to fault the trotting drivers at all. and i remember Sir Mark Todd CBE , going great guns for NZ across the equine Olympics for a good many years. He did lift off his butt as they went over the fences and that though lol...............
  11. Never mind mate. stick to the water !!! Carrington and Regal just WON more GOLD for NZ just now in the double Kayak !! fantastic. Nz are cleaning up paddling and rowing !
  12. Doubt they would give them Chief if they didn't work (isn't it 80-90 % efficacy I think?) Polio and Smallpox wiped out by vaccines , so some work Very well. So many strains of flu though, I'm a why bother type of person lol....(as only in 50's) older people like my father in law in his 90's , always get them. Warnie still got covid , so shows a different strain to what he was shot for , must be doing the rounds possibly.
  13. Flu shots have been around for a long time. like a lot of vaccines . sometimes clots and things happen but is rare. Warnie (Shane Warne cricketer) has come down with covid in the UK . He had both his shots prior so shows don't work all the time either. Nurse told me that flu shots are very 'Strain specific' My dad used to get flu , every time came to QLd from Tas. just a different environment that he was not used to . refused to come up anymore in the end , as got harder on him as he got older. (cough, etc) he had free government flu shots every year down there. Flu will ALWAYS BE AROUND. Not sure why we are locked in Brisbane for a week. because 13 people had flu today ??? stupidity. Olympics are on and Empty Stadiums in Tokyo. Just silly. They do have flu in the community with 3000 more positives on Saturday in Tokyo ( with just 3 deaths from prior contractions) and 2000 cases yesterday testing +ve (with No deaths) so doesn't seem any worse now than Flu any other year ??? WTF are they worried about then? Is mild compared to other years. world gone mad.
  14. On the subject 'Whats the Go Here" have just seen a kiwi weight lifter having a crack tonight at the Olympics. Seems to be some BIG anomalies here !!!???? Hubbard having a couple of anomalies , bit like Brodster deciding who to get the money on, to be 'On the money" lol.......... Hubbard having a lift in the weight-lifting tonight. wonders will never cease. Laurel Hubbard (New Zealand) — 1st attempt: 120kg (failed), 2nd attempt: 125kg Emily Jade Campbell (Great Britain) — 1st attempt: 118kg, 2nd attempt: 112kg (failed), 3rd attempt: 122kg (successful) Sara Elizabeth Robles (USA) — 1st attempt: 120kg Wenchen Li (China) Hubbard’s historic appearance sparks debate Hubbard was born male and competed as a man before transitioning to become a woman in her 30s, taking up the sport again after meeting the International Olympic Committee (IOC) guidelines for transgender athletes.
  15. Think Brodster is right , and a very common site is this in Aus these days with the many exported horses. Also an exported kiwi trainer today !! lol. RICHARD BROSNAN just won the trot at Melton Victoria. He is now 72 . !!! Son (and co-trainer Emmett usually does the driving these days) Think Richard got the shits with NZ in 2018 when fined $20,000 and three horses disqualified for Cobalt. so packed up and went to Victoria. BONNIE'S CHANCE won the NZ cup by 7 lengths in 1982 for Richard, a brilliant win. Primed for the race of course by Gammalite who defeated her in the Auckland Cup earlier that year with a typical Powerhouse Performance !! lol....
  16. Man , you guys in NZ were Totally ripped Off in the last Cricket World Cup in 2019 . Scores were tied after the 50 overs were bowled, at 241 runs each. A 'Super-over' each , as a Tie-Breaker, resulted in 15 runs each being scored. so the tie wasn't broken. England declared the winner still?????? How in the World is that NOT A DRAW.? and both Teams crowned Joint World Champions ? bloody cheating Poms. Event 2019 Cricket World Cup New Zealand England 241/8 241 50 overs 50 overs Super Over: England 15/0, New Zealand 15/1 England won on boundary count Date 14 July 2019 Venue Lord's, London
  17. Aus have 2 channel 7 stations running Olympics all the time, and coverage is fantastic. Lucky to have many events that Aus is in. Rugby girls for NZ brilliant. ! An Aus 100m runner going tonight in semi-final against the fastest men on the planet to get in the biggest race there is 'The Olympic 100m Final" Without BOLT since 2004 too , lol. Hope he (Browning) makes the final.! I'm seriously considering writing and lobbying for horse racing at the 2032 Olympics as the new Olympic sport. Horse and harness racing popular around the world. going back to BC even with pharoahs and Romans with Chariots. Would be a wonderful event . Sweden, France, USA, and Canada love their trotter like us. And i'm sick of prancing dressage horses , showy jumping, and eventing cross country . Time for a Change !!!!
  18. I don't think I've ever watched a marburg race. Class is that low , it's just unbearable. Just watching Olympics and the BRISBANE LIONS lose just now !!! noooooooo. I only watch and Bet on GOOD WINNING horses. e.g Amazing Dream, Pink Galahs, etc (so No Addington today lol)
  19. Your opinion is very good. you give reasons. I have been on Olympic forums and of course the internet is full of sore losers , as i saw with the totally biased comments. ( a lot of Aussies hate American swimmers it seems lol.....) Nina would NOT know who to take seriously here mate. It would look quite seriously Derogatory and disgusting to a NEW Poster mate, (who hasn't seen it all before, and had to see such Insulting remarks) You see races a certain way. Others just hate people. I think you are wrong with the assessment of Ben following Sarah off the fence behind SUGAR ME. He had No Chance of doing that IMO>>>> Apologies about Barnes , I would just go with the stewards report. I didn't notice anything.
  20. Stipes here don't Muck around mate. 2 of the best drivers McCarthy and Butt got suspensions , winning or not ???? usually winning. lol.... haven't seen Herlihy suspended much? Shane Graham got a year (QLD leading driver at the time) for dubious drive, Trista Dixon got a year (wife of leading QLD Trainer ) for team driving with Grant. Don't see that happening there?? lack of Pro-active stewards maybe??
  21. Doubt that mate. A lot of that stuff posted is vile and no one wants to read it. did you see the Mark Purdon comments? Any relative of the driver (ben or mark) would be horrified, and can't say someone shocked or upset is over-reacting? Unfortunately some people are trying to achieve that exact thing (like RD/Forb) and it is so UNNECESSARY.
  22. Yes the stewards made Sarah watch the replay and issued a warning in the report. I'm Still a 'Why Put legs where Angels Dare to tread" sort of person . especially if on a loose rein regarding Ben .. JMO It's a competitive business alright !!! Even the greats of the game found out , with Luke McCarthy putting the legs of King of Swing in a peril- ful place with Mr Anthony Butt and Copy That crossing down. (In the Black's a Fake Group 1 recently) END result is a horse galloping and 4 weeks suspension for Anthony.
  23. Ben gave the horse every chance to run 3rd. Tommy a clear inside run in the home straight. The first 2 horses were just too good. I would question the tactics Very early in the race , where Ben placed the Matthew Williamson drive in great peril I'M TOUGH by almost sending it into a gallop . I would of been yelling and screaming if i was Matthew. Quite un-fair on him. Sarah ultimately blamed for it by the stewards , squeezing Tommy Rulz down onto him , but geez that was ugly early!!!! could of been quite nasty.
  24. Please Brodster, tell them to send another trotter like this bloke to Queensland.!!! (photo last night) Retiring after last night's win , the old boy OUR OVERANOVA ! once again off 40m handicap with Grant Dixon aboard for yet another great win, and Bowing out after 203 starts for 64 wins and 39 seconds (so in the quinella more than half his starts , even off the huge handicaps! ). 500k earnings. Please, please send us another beauty like this with the exports !!!!!
  25. Been going great guns with the winners from NZ. cleared over 4k from around $400 outlay with the Great constellation carnival through July , and those juicy Amazing Dream wins, etc. excellent. Last night a grand go at Albion too. 5 out of 6 for me, with just Tommy Lincoln missing in the first race (third). but we saw SMOKIN BY (that horse of Kerr's from there) and Gammalite favourites ALTA ORLANDO and OUR OVERANOVA storming to deserved victory!!! , getting in some good multi's. no need for any footy/olympic bets with these type of horses around town, lol....... A horse Won I never heard of , a NZ winner at Westport and , Rangiora in the summertime, called SPORT MENTAL . I seriously looked at it for a first Albion Win chance, but didn't push the button unfortunately. SPORT MENTAL trained by a 'Colin Godden' . Is that a kiwi trainer ???
