  1. Think my post was not very supportive of the industry and the nights racing at Addington, and being sarcastic is a pretty backwards step, and rightly so, not tolerated well. Full Kudos to the Brodie, the Galah and others for tipping a winner on the threads at good odds last night!!!, (Bourbon On The Rocks) proving they have an eye for a winner. Disappointing again, were YURI and MICHELLE, doing their 'can can' out the back of the field as usual, something the Galah and myself, was thinking that might happen with-in this thread. I was almost 'annoyed' for some reason, these well supported runners are just adding to the misery of Harness racing attracting Punters. (probably because I can't pick em' lol) You'd have to be a very Patient, Hopeful, and (possibly wealthy) person to support these type of horses As a Punter. I can't do it. but Brodie Ludwig and others are very good selectors and doing well supporting these meetings . Very well done to them and hope their success continues onward through the year.
  2. Get ya money out Luddy , there's some good ones today YURI 4-1 fav 1 win from 18 starts ? pass Sense of Occasion 2-1 fav 1 win from 27 starts? pass , Moment Of Kaos 2-1 fav 0 wins from 12 starts? pass With Ice 2-1 fav , 1 win in past 17 starts ? pass Puntaway 2-1 fav 1 win in 7 starts ? pass geez it'll be fun losing on them . don't think so !!!good odds on offer ? Where?? If these are the favourites , then the rest of their field's must be well worth investing on , or not. Hope you got on DreamInsOver in the first race? win number 4 from 130 race starts . Perseverance like Ludwig pays off.? an incredible 5-1 odds!! lol............... how did we miss out on that one. I think some of these today need a bit of TEAM DRIVING to help them out a bit. Telfer's three runners can try all the 'team driving' they like in the first Jewel on Sunday , but they won't stop Amazing Dream. It's a SIGHT to BEHOLD seeing the BEST horses race ? lol.... It's good fun and top shelf? or tune in for MICHELLE v YURI then today 6.15pm . could be a classic ? Galah on the money this thread lol.....
  3. Mr Butterworth sounds like a Brodster relative lol ? Hope he has a win. Jonsey and Karrots have Not done the Race 8 selection on the $10 Karrots Jewels Comp thread . They won't be Bolting for Brilliance or muscling up a ''mountain' of winners? in that case
  4. Sportsbet opened a market today so have taken 7 wins , 2 places , at 400-1. AmazingDream, MysticMax, LaRosa ? (well Bettor Twist only beat her 1/2 head twice Group 1's , Third time Lucky? TrueFantasy, Fivewisemen, Akuta, MuscleMountain for wins. ShanNoble to place (missed a place for me by 1/2head, in the NZ derby behind Krug , time to get it back?) PembrookPlayboy to place in the last. (tough draw for CopyThat and reckon Williamson will track him into it) three for Cullen? two thousand odd for Gammalite for a lazy fiver ?
  5. Yes some bookies paid off someone to fire off a few shots and scare them into scratching from the Melbourne Cup. Don't think they wanted to 'really' hurt the horse, as pretty hard to miss a horse with a gun. "Phar Lap" had scratched from the 1930 Caulfield Cup and that races subsequent winner "Amounis" was backed in huge amounts of doubles with Phar Lap to win the 1930 Melbourne Cup (Phar Lap scratched late from Caulfield Cup so they got great odds) so the bookies wanted him to scratch from Melbourne Cup too. he didn't. Phar Lap Won . and many bookies collapsed. FOOTNOTE that not many know. Phar Lap made an estimated $1,000,000 pounds for Bookies the year before in the 1929 Cup, an absolute fortune, as everyone backed Phar Lap , but he finished only 3rd to Nightmarch. bookies motto after that lot ?? "You win some , ya lose some" lol.....
  6. Last Jewels the Allstars won 5 of the 6 pacing Jewels. (Beaten a nose in the other) Can Cullen stable match that Stat ??? Go close. Amazing Dream at $1.60 ??? the Auckland Cup winner is almost DOUBLE the 'class rating' of the whole field. They wouldn't get an Auckland Cup start , let alone win it .?? Get your $1000 on that Brodster. !!!! pretty easy 600 and clock off after race 1 and retire to the bar. lol.....
  7. All good Brodster. they're sharing some credit around , as am sure they all work hard at it . I tell ya what , I'd be listening to Nat . I watched that Box seat , (for the second time ever) on the harness racing site, to get the Jewels preview. And Nat was on a laptop cross and was totally Honest about every race , and just about Knows what is gunna happen in those races already. She was super polite about rivals and straight to the Point. I know you won't watch it , but if you happen too, you'll be IMPRESSED , she's fairly Dominant.
  8. Sorry Jonsey , Phar Lap knocked off in Mexico by the Bandito's there. All good in Aus.
  9. Well that's a great stat on her resume' . what a ripper. 1964 Interdominion at Melbourne Showgrounds . The brilliant horse TACTILE I mentioned start of this thread finished 3rd. the year after his 5 Derby wins. The NZ Best Horse Ever CARDIGAN BAY fin 6th starting 48 yards behind (because he won the 1963 Interdom SA) LITTLE MAORI shared the 12 yard Handicap with ROBIN DUNDEE (one of best NZ mare ever) who won Interdom the following year in 1965 at Forbury Park (dead-heat) So the kiwis were all off the Handicaps on that tiny tiny track ??? Talk about home town bias ??? Tactile, Little Maori, Robin Dundee off 12 yards and Cardigan Bay 48 yards. Minuteman won it ,off the front . Bloody cheating Aussies !!!! lol...... hahahaha your great Uncle's horse keeping EXCEPTIONALLY gifted company from NZ there !! wow ......... crazy good.
  10. Well he get's the chance to Beat his favourite drive (Bettor Twist) on Sunday in the 3 yearold fillies jewel . 'BettorTwist' and 'La Rosa' fighting out group 1's with 1/2 head between them on a few occasions, and now he (TIM with OFFandGONE ) can sit right on them from the 1 alley and dive-bomb late ?? Ben Butcher did Exactly that with ENJOY ME in the sires stakes final Group 1 on New Year's Eve. (to win that feature from BT and LaR from 1 alley)
  11. Yes anything can go 'Wrong' if you don't have the right stablehands. Especially with an Ice epidemic around these days. Chris Waller even had a horse disqualified and got huge fine. Sharrock and the greyhound lady over NZ recently too, place has gone nuts?
  12. For sure !! Blair Orange and Tim Williams have long lists of wins with Allstars horses. This is now a NEW stable and CULLEN Racing have the right to put on whoever they like to drive. Joshua Dickie won last time with SUNTAN , and Jonny Cox , also a very good driver. (won the feature race at Akld the other night) They've both scored some Cullen drives for the Jewels. Hope they do well. They drive well and are experienced. For sure with the stablehands being important too. The DUNN team very lucky to be in business (got 14k fine as well) after 4 ( Four) positive swab disqualifications for Caffiene at Nelson three years ago???. 'Got-At' apparently?, Where were the transporter stablehands looking after their charges ?? mmmmm
  13. Your great Uncle's horse raced in NZ as ATLANTA (a Light Brigade mare who won a couple at Forbury Park) You are right on the money being on the Derby thread here as she left a brilliant foal named LITTLE WILLIAM. Little William WON the Victoria Derby 1975. !! to join the honour roll of champions like paleface Adios, Bag Limit, Westburn Grant, HolmesDG, Courage Under Fire and a swag of other classic winning horses. So LITTLE MAORI has a claim as the mum of a Derby Winner !!! a grand achievement.
  14. I used to really enjoy the absolute 'unbridled joy' expressed by some trainers, after a big race win. We had a touch of it at Eagle Farm Saturday when the trainer Desleigh Forster horse APACHE CHASE had upset the plunge horse that Kah rode 'Arton' that is spose to be a Stradbroke chance. The camera did the chase after the race too!, lol.., chasing Desleigh through the crowd and capturing her crazy excitement. Was great moments. GAI Waterhouse used to be like that , Always Beaming about her horses chances before and after a race. But she was never the same, after that Horrid MORE JOYOUS scandal and very public mounting yard debacle with the owner Singleton in 2013. She's been a lot quieter ever since really , which is a shame. Wayne HAWKES is still good value !!! makes you laugh , even though some don't like him. The rest of the trainers sound like they have 'Prepared cliche' speeches' after a race, very drab at times.
  15. Hey they sound really confident in that article ! the Hopes with both the trotters running against Bolt4Brilliance. Bolt came home with a great sprint last week. could be very interesting. You'll have to keep the NOMINATIONS open ,at least to after Sunday Jewels ,Jonsey, as there is going to be some fine winning drives !!!! am sure this thread will be getting some nominations after the big Day. ? Gammalite prediction : watch out for a NATHAN WILLIAMSON (Pembrook Playboy) 'Special drive' in the Last Jewel race on Sunday.
  16. Shat on him ??? 17 days ago he drove the winner of a 200k race AKUTA for Mark and Cullens (part owners) That's BIG shit !! and a a drive on near the best horse in the country. Well done to all of them !! good shit.
  17. Could he beat his old drive BettorTwist ? slim hope in race 3. Yeah, even on their very last night of action by Allstars on Dec 31st, Tim won the 200k race with ALADDIN defeating Mark on 'Shan Noble'. A juicy driving fee from the 107k first prize for Tim on Aladdin, and a great drive by him too. With Tim's new drive OFFandGONE drawn 1 in the fillies Jewel Race 3, is must be a tiny chance of knocking off his old drive BettorTwist (who's drawn 8 ) ?
  18. Definitely JJ . Mr Flash to be joined at the Bar for a round of 'shouts' by the Galah and Taupiri Wonder as it looks.
  19. Can't remember who it was , probably the Galah, who can spot a great drive , but a few customers posted on the Brilliant drive by BEN HOPE to win that spectacular Group 1 NZ trotting Championship FFA Trot on April 9th , and win his first Group 1 race. Muscle Mountain ran down the best in the land Sundee's Son and Bolt for Brilliance , with absolute ' Peach ' of a drive. So BEN HOPE get's a nomination . (at the time HunterTPunter picked the Q , so nominated on his behalf )
  20. wonderful idea Jonsey !!!, and sure to get some fantastic nominations. Sheryl Wigg being one already. Naturally , the Amazing drive ,by the amazing driver Mark Purdon on the AMAZING DREAM to win the Auckland Cup with a 10/10 drive in that feature on Dec 31st, is what Many will say fits the bill of season's brilliant drive.?? BUT To Surprise You lol... , I'm going for a Brilliant drive to WIN a Group 1 , that actually beat Mark and Amazing Dream back into 2nd place , while that grand mare was still at her peak , not long after that Auckland Cup victory. KIRSTIN BARCLAY with Watch Me Now, only a moderately performing horse, and Winning the NZ Standardbred breeders stakes on 12th FEB . check out the drive from the impossible 8 barrier draw!, and then running down Mark and Amazing Dream in full flight . (Who does that ???) no-one ? except Kirstin. well worth a nomination.
  21. Unbeaten as a four year old . 12 starts 12 wins for Royden Glen (including Auckland Cup) so a brilliant training effort by Fred Fletcher. Can never forget that derby crash. Royden Glen was on the deck for 10 minutes or more lashing out. Nearly took out a hall of famer in Charlie Hunter ONZM (Young Quinn's trainer) check this following report for how close a call these amazing men and women can have at times. Displayed in a corner of the Hall Of Fame is the helmet that saved Hunter's life during the most sickening racing fall in New Zealand history. In the 1984 New Zealand Derby nine of the 14 horses crashed at full speed directly in front of a packed grandstand at Addington.Hunter, driving Tucker's Rule, was caught at the bottom of the carnage, with champion pacer Roydon Glen trashing out with his legs and repeatedly kicking Hunter in the head.Hunter broke his sternum and ribs and his lungs were punctured. But the cracked helmet that sits in the Hall Of Fame saved his life.
  22. Absolute machines that gave it everything. and some not big horses either. SIR CASTLETON , was 3rd in that Auckland Trotting Grandfinal above, but went to South Australia Interdominion, the following year and Defeated the great Scotch Notch with a brilliant sprint Win. also For NZ and the late master trainer himself, Derek Jones NZMM and his son Peter from Canterbury , the fine trotter TUSSLE ran a great 3rd. !! TUSSLE went on to get her moment in the Spotlight too. Winning the her 'home' Trot Final at Addington 87 where Cliff Irvine had taken her over. fantastic trotter. btw. Scotch Notch beat Sir Castleton in her 'Home' Trot Grand Final too at Moonee Valley the year after SA. making it 2 Quinellas for the 'pocket rockets' after narrowly missing the Akld one. Two quite small trotters that were 2 of the Australasian greats ever . A wonderful Era .
  23. At Interdominion Auckland 1983 . First round of Trotters heats, McSHANE beating the subsequent Grand Final winner SCOTCH NOTCH (one of the Aussie greats of All Time for the late Graeme Lang) . McSHANE was 8th in the Trotting Grand Final. Notice the first Pacers Heat in photo, going to speedy Queenlander "WONDAI's MATE" (73 wins from 121 starts) beating the grand NZ Cup winners Bonnie's Chance and Hand's Down. the trainers are Peanut farmers in the bush, the Reinke's, still bush bash with the odd horse even now , but never had another 'Good' horse . Reinke got tipped out in the Pacers Grand final after winning two heats. What a little ripper the Mate was!!!. Took a NZer to Brisbane once to take him on in the 80's named Frederick (a NZ derby runner and pretty quick) Wondai's Mate kicked his brains in , with Frederick battling 4th, running 1.55 in the 80's . super quick for those days.
  24. Well it's been that sort of week. The sun earth and moon definitely in a line on Wednesday night !!!! lol........... Allstars winninning at Redcliffe (Virgil + Aqua Sancha) while the eclipse was on. excellent GREAT WIn !!! for KUKERACHA in the Queensland Derby yesterday (in the photo beating Hughie Bowman on the the Waller grey horse . Grand kiwi hoop JMAC wins !!! legend !!!! BRISBANE LIONS with 7 straight wins and smashing out HUGE win yesterday !!! AFL premiership Bound 2021? hell yeah! CHELSEA just now a few minutes ago in Europe, winnnnninnnng the Champions League Final ,(biggest football match there is in the world each year) and now CHAMPIONS of the WORLD !! ( my son drove over to wake me at five o'clock as is a big Manchester City supporter ) thinking he was gunna knock off my team supported. No chance !!! with the Stars aligning ! One word for it . Wahoooooooo!!. (send KRUG over for pacing Derby now?)
  25. Pipped for 4th by Gretna Hanover? , behind the Lady (Flora d'or and Philippa Frost ) in the NI Breeders .
