  1. You don't let up do you?! The case in 2013 was environmental contamination The Galah would be an awesome Stipe as you know Chief , attention to detail won't get past him. drivers would have No chance with him on the panel !! lol..... Funny you should mention that Karrots as was just looking at MIKE BERGER training record . seems fairly moderate for such an experienced trainer . (150 wins past decade from 2000 starters odd) racing in slower grades mainly too. I was surprised , as he did have fine youngsters one after another in the 80's . being an excellent horseman. Mike did the initial work with LIGHTNING BLUE . He won first up for Mike in a 2 year old race Cambridge summer 1985 a night I was attending , BLUE sold for $40k straight after that win, and I was on plane with Blue flying out shortly after as it panned . Wonder what Mike was thinking when exactly 2 years later (as MY LIGHTNING BLUE) then flew back in to Addington and won the Interdominion Grand Final 87 !!!!!!! and later that year the NZ CUP 87 !!! Yet another fine horseman that prepared horses for someone else to get all the glory. so many NZ trainers have suffered that fate.
  2. Just looking at results tonight and the races were won by Barry Purdon (with 3 winners) and David Butcher along with Telfers partnership as well. Some of the best horsepeople in the country with amazing training and/or driving records. The other winners were Mike Berger, Dr Luk Chin and roger Villiger who have all been training winners for absolute decades , and supporting the industry well . Congrats to them all on some more winners!!!!!! Where is the sad bit ?. Very high quality horsepeople getting good results.
  3. just seen ad's on mine being Ry7e Activewear!!. Oh dear lol . better for you karrots ? wouldn't fit em i'm afraid lol
  4. Hey we had the big Plunge this week at Albion. The 2 new kiwi horses were in action ALTA SENSATION and HECTOR . you would know them if follow Nz form. Hector from Barry Purdons the other bloke South Island. Anyway ALTA SENSATION cruised in at $1.40 with everyone on it apparently , AND all and sundry had backed HECTOR in from $3.40 to $1.70 , and then it got Run Down by a head ,on the line. !! Who plans theses things ???? fail...... so bit of a plunge into the toilet !! lol instead of a holiday pool at the resort we were planning !! lol......
  5. Thanks for that result ! didn't think Captain Lee would of won it , as would of remembered. Interesting Clive Herbert horse 4th there in GN Derby , we liked , and chatted to Clive to go to Oz with it, REDCLIFFE PASS ,but Not for Sale (as Clive pretty wealthy) he had a 2nd with Metal Mickey a few years before that, in the GN Derby with that 3 yearold too. man i'd be like a Pig in Mud to wallow through your cartons of harness stuff. lol... hours (days/weeks) of fun lol..... just had in another quick funny NZ experience now that was thinking of Jim Smith and Captain Lee. One year early 80's ,Jim got this horse from the South Island and I was on high-school holidays . So Jim says to me , come down NewPlymouth and we'll win with this filly and make a quid and have couple of great days away. SILKY SUE . what a hoot it turned. Silky Sue form in South Island at Dalzell's was 00000 in the racebook!! from memory, so we were thinking 20-1 and the likes . Sue gets the Win ok, down at Taranaki there ok,,,,, BUT someone let the cat was out of the bag . I laughed for days as she paid $2 w / $1 pl , I think. hahahaha
  6. Congrats on the win TW !! great job. ! sorry I can't remember THE SICILIAN , but probably raced against him at times, back in the ruck somewhere lol...... Do remember your winner on Punt though. The very last time I went to Alex Park I flew over to look at a horse, and went along on GN Derby prelude night with trainer Jim Smith . His fine 3 year-old CAPTAIN LEE won this night too, (had won a few in a row) and might have been favourite for the Derby the following week. (Way too expensive for me to buy lol.....) Here is a very old racebook page I have, with I have noted Little Buckaroo trained by Roy and Barry ,still driven by Tony too, running 2nd to no less than INKY LORD !!! who went on to Win the NZ Cup later that year !! wow! (guess he won the GN Derby then ??) I returned to Oz before the GN Derby final so missed it. Maybe Little Buckeroo won it.
  7. Ya had to do it Chief... ??? put up the race with the four (4) Terrific NZ Cup winners from 1979 to 1982 , LordModule (1979), HandsDown (1980) ,Armalight (1981), BonniesChance (1982) ......Gammalite (0, sob sob lol) (Armalight, Bonnies Chance and Hands Down ran the NZ Cup trifecta) , 2 weeks before this race photo as well) Gammalite crushing 3 Champion NZ Cup winners into submission in your highlight here, ......and then along came Lord Module ! blahblah! great !....sob, sob.....
  8. Sugartown punted like it was already past the post in Race 5 Sandown. but when you get 3kg off like Madame Bolli did with her rider, home you go ! with 55kg on !! neat !
  9. Brilliant Karrots.!! that driver amazing and super chilled. and thought to thank all the people like owners and people who did early work with horse as he pulled up !! amazing. what a great chap . And Nice Win !!! no surprise with the track dirt. Qld sees you get a bucket of 'horse sweat' in your face and colours during every race with the warmer weather lol..... used to enjoy washing horse after so could have a rinse off yourself sometimes lol.
  10. Well if Taupo didn't get the kiwi punters a winner some great racing at Sandown today to get rich. My mate Matty Cartwright already plucking the 3rd race at 8-1 with his claim. wahoo. Plenty of good claiming riders to get on today .Guinea's runner in the second last as well CAMBOURNE will be hardToBeat !
  11. and you are all pondering which is faster now? African Bush Elephant can get to 40 km/h , but White Rhinoceros can hit 50km/h if cut loose !! hahaha...
  12. Well the ELEPHANT from NZ might of gone under by a nose/head in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes at Moonee Valley last Sat, But stable-mate RHINOCEROS won today at Sandown by 3 lengths at $4 odds. !! very nice. For Emma Lee and David Browne. I imagine they are kiwi trainers? how did they go in NZ ? going pretty well over here in Oz
  13. Your first success always stick with you as a great experience i guess. Knocking off a childhood hero (the countries leading trainer Barry Purdon) with very first horse leased at your very first drive was a bit of a thrill.
  14. Yes , that is fair enough Chief. It's the carrier issue that is pressing as well as 'self preservation' . My kids are older and working in the city, so had vaccine. I can't be bothered at present, but they keep insisting "Go Get it." lol.. In the future , when a large actually really dangerous virus occurs , a huge chunk of people will be wiped out , like a bigger scale Spanish Flu that killed millions a century ago , with people of all ages. I'm not anti-vax or Pro vax. I gave the kids Menningoccal vacine when high-schools issued it . Another nasty thing that is best to avoid. Polio vaccines are great ! saved thousands from lifetimes of suffering . But make no mistake VACCINES are poison. some will react to it. It kills cells. Chlorine in the water supply destroys cells too. It is a Poison . But you could stop your kids swimming for a while I guess (to avoid injesting Chlorine, and drink distilled water instead of tap-water poison. Not worth worrying about !!! The kids ten step outside and start sucking in the TRAFFIC fumes in the air anyway . another 50 toxins the body has to deal with. then they start drinking alcohol and killing a few Brain cells . Worry about a pitiful little vaccine after that ??? Naaaahhhhh. pass.
  15. take whooping cough for example. A vaccination is given three times to infants in their first year. A Whooping cough epidemic breaks out every 3-4 years in Australia now as people Scared off from vaccines these days. (rate of immunisation dropped from 95% to 90% recent times) All ages can catch this contagious respiratory disease. It is Particularly Nasty. 1 in 100 babies die when they contract the disease . It is brutal. Doctors that treat these tiny victims say this >>>.>>> "100% of those that didn't vaccinate, WISH they did , once they see their baby in the throngs of not being able to breathe , and the terror that goes with it"
  16. Yes those boys train out of the same track barn at Menangle and work their horses togeather. Very busy with a full team as getting great results. Young kiwi lad Jack Trainor might be a threat to the McCarthy domination. Funny things happen in NSW . A decade ago the states leading driver GREG BENNETT, and one of the Fitzpatrick trainers were warned off. for paying a NSW steward off , to Not swab certain winning horses at certain venues. crazy stuff. I believe Greg has served his time and applied for a licence again a year or 2 back , but was refused at that time, not sure if he has tried since. Trainer Cameron Fitzpatrick still with 2 years to go of his 12 year Disqualification. As for the steward , don't know. Probably left the country and officiating in NZ somewhere ???? lol......
  17. Com'on Chief , who is gunna back 4 horses to win in one trotting/pacing race ? odds just aren't big enough. with This 'system' you showed with $42 loss , you were DOWN $27 from the Get-Go . only one can win each race. Might as well box the 4 selections in a trifecta each race that Jason picked. AND hope the outsider of the trio wins.?? He got trifectas in 5 races (didn't count his 'fifth' selections any race) divs were $64, $27, $35, $64, and $36 here in small pools. so if $1 BOX each race total of $24 per race = $216. Collect was $226 . A tidy $10 Profit !!!!! lol.......... handsome lol...
  18. The sure fire sign of a fixed race is when a mystery betting plunge appears on the bookies books. Team driving is a different thing (as driver's just working togeather to obtain the best possible result for all their horses) Often NOT stablemates as most seem to think either. Race FIXING is much more serious , as runners are not given the chance at the best possible result by their drivers. It's a SET-UP for one plunge horse to win. Still very hard to prove. In the dozens of races run in Australia daily there will be one somewhere. Bankstown yesterday race 5 , had the early favourite trained by Dean McDowell (son of Colin ) and his Mrs Kerry training. BUT they had a second string runner. Sensationally backed in for a stack, in the last 5 minutes betting before the race, was the kiwi bred Bettor'sDelight horse BETTOR SENSATION. 7-1 odds into even money. Obviously knowing it would beat stable-mate. The race developed nicely with some 'help' around, and BETTOR SENSATION in by 3 lengths easy. !!! That's how you do it folks. nothing to see here.
  19. yes it seems they do Chief . I don't know what they are though. I only go along once a year. It doesn't happen often at all. They're usually just belting along flat out all the time these days (esp. with 'Leader Peter' whizzing along in front often) lol..... Here's a report from last year , shows a steward fine for slow sectional . (and Galahs mate h Barnes too ! lol.....) R1 Nathan Dawson (I Am Serengetti NZ) fined $200 AHR rule 163 (1) (b)(ii) - impeding R4 Peter Greig (Bodhi Tree) fined $200 AHR rule 156(2) - engaging the shoulder when applying the whip. R6 Graham Dwyer (Maywyns Best) fined $200 AHR rule 156 (3) unapproved whip use R7 Adam Sanderson (Smooth Showgirl) fined $150 under AHR rule 162 (1)(y) - slow sectional. R7 Hayden Barnes (Northview Hustler NZ) reprimanded AHR rule 163 (c)(ii) contacting marker peg
  20. I didn't see some of those races to disect your opinion . assume you are accurate . did go back and view the hayden Barnes drive you mentioned on KatachaMan last race at Albion yesterday. and yeah had chance to stay 1-1 early and dropped 4 back on rails instead. a racing decision. whatever. it's a VERY low class horse . I like your philosophy ! and fully agree , Love seeing everyone Always doing their best out there. !!! I like my philosphy too , I just back good horses with good drivers. Group racing they're ALL having a go !! excellent. I made several thousand in July carnival here, Brodster ,Davis and others support weaker company (low class) races ??? that is great really because someone needs to do it. .. betting weaker company Addington Friday was a risk , I just did it for fun , and followed John Dunn for the night (a good driver). so did very well actually. Was Still very disappointed with NED KELLY drive in the last race, but you gave reasons for it , which I accept.!! AND so lose my money supporting weak class (and performed) runners , When should of known better.
  21. If you say certain drivers aren't trying (A very serious accusation) that is definitely 'bagging the driver, No Matter what way you look at it. you have even began 'Generallizing' over several races. Nathan Dawson drives New kiwi horse HECTOR today in R6 , He has drawn the 7 alley. Chances of winning are slim from there !! He will have to drive a brilliant race to win. might fall short but i'll say in advance, he'll be honest as any kiwi driver , and do his best. p.s I'm still recovering from all the quiet drives race 12 Addington the other night lol.............) tongue in cheek.
  22. yes it's hard to argue with stats like that unfortunately . I still find it hard to bag any drivers. i know how hard it is. Hard for horses too. You were disappointed with Spankem form. It's just so fast and competitive. wanted to tell you a horse that I admire greatly with 46 wins from 89 starts. hasn't been able to Win this season (this year) COLT THIRTY ONE , 9 starts this year , 0 wins. That is how hard it has got to win now. Spankem and the Colt are whizzing around in 1.52 .all the time. so quick so just so hard to win. They're beauties though !!
  23. Well there was super racing in July at Albion Park Mr Galah , with the kiwi visitors winning the Group 1's. You are leaving ONE DAY too early . Tuesday sees three (3) new super u-beaut kiwis turned up in town !!!!! After only 4 out 5 for Karrots last week I'll give you a Pick '5' swansong to enjoy , as you give up on Albion lol...... Lets take the 2 kiwis Grant Dixon won with last week , along with the three NEW KIWI's !!! $350-1 Sportsbet HelloJoeleneJoelene R1, Sugarinspice R2, AwholeLottaRosie R4, Hector R6, and AltaSensation R8 seems that Hector, SugarinSpice and Alta Sensation have abandoned your shores as well. ?????? Queensland virtually another NZ state now for harness racing, so you should hang around. !!! good luck if you take the Bet !!
  24. Brendon does get better results than brother Hayden. Hayden Barnes being the driver in the last race today at Albion on KATACHA MAN that you weren't happy with. $9.50 third fav here. Hayden only drives roughies. won 100 from a thousand drives last season , but only 22 from 300 drives this year. That is lean indeed , !!!!!!!!!!! here's the odds and placings he drove this month. Think I'd just go and sell cars or something lol............ Date Track Race Horse Placing Margin Odds 06-09-2021 Albion Park 7 9. KATACHA MAN 8 16.5m $9.5 06-09-2021 Albion Park 6 3. 25. Son shouted me to the Gabba AFL final for Fathers Day present. Excellent game ! but Lions sadly lost by a point. People were booing and throwing things at the umpires at the final siren as they walked off !!!!!!! seriously the amount of abuse was terrifying. Officials doing their job as best they see it. Strong comparison with Stipes . People lie to them !! I lied to them .(just blamed horse usually) it is an impossible job. They are/were/sometimes hated because they effect your living and operation. In the 90's All that whip stuff started up . Stewards fined drivers all over the place. They came down stable area to inspect horses arses after a race to look for welts even !! , so they could fine you. we hated the bastards lol.. so gave the driving away altogeather along with abut 15 other drivers. But really the stipes just doing a job.
